This looks better if you qualify. ANZ Black with 75k bonus points.

    • You can always get both

      • Both as in black and platinum QFF products at the same time?

        • +1

Yes they're two different cards after all

        • +1

I have both and got the bonus on both, ANZ see the Rewards and the FFQ cards as 2 seperate products! - I got the platinum and got an invitation for the black (i think its targetted)

      • +4

yes you can apply both cards but bonus points only applicable to one as per T&C:
Offer available to new and approved applicants who apply for an ANZ Frequent Flyer Platinum credit card account by 04 January 2017. Not available in conjunction with other offers, packages or promotions, or when transferring from an existing ANZ credit card or where you currently hold or have closed an ANZ Frequent Flyer, ANZ Frequent Flyer Gold, ANZ Frequent Flyer Platinum or ANZ Frequent Flyer Black credit card within the previous twelve months.

    • IF you don't have a problem with the min. spend, and FF points is your aim, then it is 50,000 QFF VS 37,500 Velocity points.

    • black card doesn't have an annual fee waiver if you click through that link. if you click through here then scroll to the bottom to there's an offer there that does.

  • I cancelled this card in June. Do you guys reckon I can re-apply and reap the points ?

    • +3

I dont think so, just read the terms and it states this:

Not available in conjunction with other offers, packages or promotions, or when transferring from an existing ANZ credit card or where you currently hold or have closed an ANZ Frequent Flyer, ANZ Frequent Flyer Gold, ANZ Frequent Flyer Platinum or ANZ Frequent Flyer Black credit card within the previous twelve months. This offer applies only once per eligible customer.

      • And yes, they actually check. I called up and was given the exact date I can re-apply for this card – exactly 12 months after closing my last card, at which point the promotion had ended. However, a new promotion had started, so I applied for the card on the given date, but must have been a day early, and was told I'd have to wait until tomorrow to apply, but that as a gesture of goodwill they would call me to arrange the application. Epic annoyance.

        • I made the mistake of applying within the 12 months. I called and they confirmed I would not be eligible. I still got the points :)

    • +1

I cancelled my ANZ black this month

      I need a 1 year reminder so I can re-apply :)

      • Add it to whatever calendar you use :)

  • Thanks. This reminds me to cancel my ANZ plat card.
I used the points last time to get Bose QC25 :)

  • noob question - what does 50k of QFF amount to?

    • +1

      300

To be a bit more specific, 1500pts = $10 Woolies Gift Card.
      i.e. 45000pts = $300 Woolies gift card.
So you'd be on 49500pts which is $330 in Woolies gift cards.

Alternatively, 8000pts = SYD-MEL/BNE-SYD (and vice versa) one way economy class on Qantas (+ ~$32 in tax). It's 6400pts on Jetstar. The cash value of a SYD-MEL/BNE-SYD is dependent on:

      • Day of the week
      • Holidays/festivals/special events
      • Availability (i.e. just because you are willing to pay 8000pts for a seat does it mean it's available)
      • Whether you require check-in luggage
      • Whether you value having a snack/meal on board
      • Cash cost of other competitor airfares - what I mean by this is if you pick Qantas on a Wednesday afternoon which costs ~$100 one way, you could probably book on Tiger for $60 one way.
      • Its a sacrilege to compare tiger to Qantas. You can compare Tiger to Jetstar Domestic though…. haha

Generally speaking, for the best value for points you'd wanna go with flight / upgrade redemption. Redemption for gift cards or other items are generally the lowest value in terms of points vs money ratio.

        • I'm not saying you're wrong. I am quite familiar with point valuations, but consider this:

          • Not everyone flies, and this could be due to circumstances (illness, disability, phobia, lack of interest, money)
          • When/if they do fly, they just want to get from A to B for the cheapest price possible. This means comparing Tiger to Qantas, especially on a 1.5 hour flight is indeed applicable. This also means saying business class/redemption upgrades is better value is not applicable because all along the intention was to get from A to B for the cheapest price.
          • I understand and generally agree that flights are better value, however, the reasons above in my previous comment, plus the reasons here are why it's complex to value flights, as opposed to simply saying 1500pts = $10 woolies gift cards. A $10 Woolies/Coles gift card is probably the next closest thing to cash after a $10 EFTPOS card.

In support of the "some people just want to get from A to B", $3000 for a Business Class return to Asia as opposed to $400 on a Scoot/AirAsia return fare - you could save the $2600 and pay for a whole week in a good hotel. This obviously only applies to specific destinations though.

    • Well, I just booked roughly $2500 worth of flights Sydney-Lord Howe Island and back for 40000 QFF points (if I'd been quicker I could have got them for 32000 points). This is around 7c per point, which is close to the maximal redemption value. If you buy stuff at the Qantas store or exchange points for real-world gift cards etc you'll get less than one cent per point. Use them on flights, preferably to upgrade a paid flight to business or first class.

And get the 75k card if you're eligible, you won't get points for both the 50k and the 75k cards despite what koconder says above.

  • At what point do they ask for your pay slips?

    • About 2 hours after filling in the form I received an email asking for payslips.

      • +1

they don't like group certifications or anything like that?

other credit cards I've applied for have asked me for either group certificate or the one from the ATO

I cancelled my last ANZ FF card on the 13/01/16 - sooo close…

    • These offers won't be going anywhere soon I don't think. Hang in there!

      • Hopefully a similar promo comes up after this one expires on the 4th of Jan!

  • How long before you can cancel this card?
