Arrosto Lorenzo Woodfired Pizza Oven - $149 @ Barbeques Galore

230

Ive been wanting a pizza oven for quite a while but not willing to invest in a permanent pizza oven just yet.
Clearly not at the same level as a true pizza oven but it is great bang for buck. Looks like you can also roast, gril and smoke

The original price was apparently $300. but it is selling for $357 on amazon and $250usd from swagdaddy in the us

I got something similar from Aldi for $200, and it's great for pizza. I made bread once, and it was hard to maintain a constant temp and the loaf came out tasting very smokey, but I'd try it again.

Brilliant. Wedding anniversary present sorted. Thanks OP.

    Please Note
The Oven and Firebox are separated

I wonder how separate they are? It does look like the oven could be a separate inner skin, would you get any smoke flavour?

If it's anything like the Aldi one I have (which looks 90% the same) they are the same box, seperated by a wire grate and a square pizza stone. The smoke easily gets through the sides of the stone and into the oven (I'm talking like 2 inch gaps). Infact, that's how it vents to the flume.

Edit: I just watched the video. It's the same. The only difference with mine is that the thermometer is on the right hand side rather than up the top.

Please do not watch the youtube link. That's not how you make a pizza!!! :O

Don't you always make your pizza bases out of putty? :P

      • I like how he says he lets his pizza stone SOAK overnight!!!

      'sno how ya meark pee-tza!

  • I don't know anything about pizza ovens, but I saw a hack on Janie and Jimmy's show yesterday for a tandoor oven. How hot do these pizza ovens get? I'm wondering if I ould use it as a tandoor.

    • From memory, the manual suggests keeping the temp around 140-170.

      • Thanks, the Indian oven was about 400c.

  • keep on mind that these pizza oven's rust if exposed to rain

  • Tempting. Made pizza tonight (one way to use up that left over ham) using my gas pizza oven…. gas is so easy, but you do miss that smokey flavour…..

  • Picked up a stone igloo type pizza oven from Aldi for 72 down from 140, it's a black oven so wood goes in the same place as pizza, and so it takes a bit of working out things. Having said that, pizza tasted great. Main issues were relatively small so pizzas limited to about 20-25cm, and the edge near the fire would blacken. Will probably be able to do better second time around by pushing the wood further out of the way or making the pizzas a but smaller

You just need to rotate the pizza as it cooks

      • Amd a decent pizza spatula.

  • Went to my local earlier, website said they had stock. Guy there said they had no stock but he could order me one.
He then said he wouldn't recommend one as they're really small and very badly put together.. Not too sure why a person working in sales would put down their own product unless they're really that bad?

    • Exact same thing happened to me (Capalaba, QLD store), the woman then tried to sell me an $800 one. Might go back to my original plan and build a cob oven.

      • Yeah he said they had a really good one last year that they got rid of and didn't replace with anything. Then tried to tell me the $800 one would be the only one worth buying.

    • I can think of a reason, the classic bait and switch, and because he is on commission like most sales people

While I agree, he'd be stupid to think I'd spend $800 when I went in to spend $150.

        • Yeah bit if he sells you the 150, maybe he makes 10 bucks if anything, he sells you the 800, he could be making 150.

Also the bait and switch often doesn't really have the bait, in fact it relies on it not being available. You are stuck, have invested some time, maybe even thought of the next pizza you are eating. Then he offers you a more expensive one, and there's more of a chance you would think about it.

There of course is every chance it wasnt deliberate, just today I was in a conversation with a guy where I thought the same thing happened, however he was just a lazy bugger. Still very poor form either way

        • @Jackson:

Yeah I know what you're getting at but in this instance he obviously had no chance of selling me the $800 one so he also lost the $10 he could have made.

Will just buy online for click and collect :)

        • @cala90: sorry edited my comment after you responded. Considering at 10 bucks he may have to sell 50-100 a week to get by, which isn't feasibility. If 10 people a day came in for the cheap one and only one a day walks out with the expensive one, he is weary ahead
