    • Thanks for the post, and thanks to all you afficionado's out there for your comments. I've found that as a non-techy, running through the comments gives me a good idea of potential problems and concerns

  • 7 available @ Canberra Big W

  • Went to Pheonix WA and got the 50 inch one instead for $349.30. Were 2-3 available. None of the 48 inch ones at Phoenix or Cockburn WA
Edit the one I got it HD (not UHD)

  • Any other alternatives to this?

I need something for a PS4 Slim I just bought as well as to maybe consume media on.

  • Thanks op, got the last one at Ipswich :)

  • let you guys know arndale SA has some still

anyone know the best setting for picture calibration for this bargain ? loving it input lag isnt that bad tbh

    • The input lag is under 50ms
I've got to test it properly but it's decent

      • felt around 80 ms tbh howd you test ?

for casual pc gaming thats fine (i have a monitor i use for main gaming)
and when casual gaming ill use the xbone controll with the adapter for windows for laying in bed playing games casually :)

        very good bargain

        • It's not 80ms I can assure you or I wouldn't be playing competitive games on it

I have tools and programs that measure it through my pc

It's definitely less than 80ms and I can prove this by playing overwatch over 4k 60hz via my Xbox one S and scoring top player every round lol
Couldn't do that with my last tv set and it was horribly laggy

It was smooth and lag free

I would check your settings if you feel it's any higher but in hdmi enhanced mode it felt very fluid out of the box

I'll have exact numbers later tonight when I run some testing tools to check correctly

Its around the same as the bauhn tv from Aldi

Not having smart features has helped this unit a lot

        • @shawncro 222:
easier explanation is i just suck at overwatch (what i was using to test ) i should stick to battlefield and dota 2 xD

agreed though it is very fluant

          80ms was proberly too harsh
i havent turned on hdmi enhanced mode tbh would that be a massive difference ?

        • @AliensStoleMyMoney:

          Should make a difference :)

Its like a game mode type setting, hence maybe the difference here
          I turned it straight on

        • @shawncro 222:
just finished a round and yeah definatley matters felt alot smoother now :) just gotta colour calibrate it now (do that eventually )

        • @AliensStoleMyMoney:

          Glad I could help :)

Game mode shaves about 30ms off

        • @shawncro 222: Excuse the ignorance here. Just a casual console gamer here. Have never heard of 'HDMI Enhanced Mode'. Care to explain what it is / the benefits?

        • @stevensx:

          Hi StevenSx
HDMI Enhanced Mode Disables all the added LCD features which increase latency

It basically is Game Mode, LCD runs in a better mode to ensure latency is reduced between your console and TV

Also allows Chroma 4:4:4 at 60hz aka Better Colour for Monitor Usage

    • Told me at 910 this morning they had none… Too lazy to check…

      • yeah when i left there were 3 infront of me. i called brickworks at 9ish and they said nothing but people here got some from them i just put it down to lazyness on employee side or them saving the bargain for them self ;)

      • tbh they got sick of the calls
the guy at stafford basically did the same once people lined up to be fair to those in store first

  • I picked up what they claimed to be the last at Karrinyup WA, however there was another one sitting there that some lady had on some sort of quasi-hold from what I over heard. Basically holding while she checked on another TV in the shopping centre. If you're in WA and desperate you could call and check what happened to that one.

  • I wanted to buy but not sure if it it will fit in my 2 door Kia. They said theyd hold for a day and "dont worry, theres plenty of stock" but 24 hrs later they had 2 left and no record of my hold. They did allow me however to lay-by it (with a $500 wish card, haha) so that I can have a few days to pick it up. Anyone recommend a reasonable Wall mount? Cheers

    • richieisnow it fit in my 2012 Rav4 with room to spare
shouldnt be a problem in most cars, its not a huge size

    • Fit in my "small" aka corolla/pulsar category car with room to spare across the rear floor pan.

      • I still have it unopened.

        Box dimensions:

        W = 1170mm x D = 180mm x H = 740mm

        Cheers

    • Fit in my Hyundai excel a treat lol.

  • Picked up 2 I put on hold at Rockdale this arvo, the person there was very helpful. They actually had me come in the back as they couldn't find my order but knew it was there because they remembered a conversation with another person. Once I got in there I realised why, there were about 30 TVs on hold/lay-by

  • Anyone know any stock in Vic? Couldn't find any at 3 stores.

    • Theres a podt earlier in the thread from about 20 mins ago. Dig through youll find it.

  • Is the digital audio output coaxial or TOSLink ? My soundbar only takes TOSLink and I don't want to buy a converter. Thanks !

    • +1

      Optical output and coaxial

  • (profanity),i realized that my AMD HD7950 graphic card doesn't support 4K@60Hz,it's only 30Hz.I don't have money to upgradea to a decent one ATM.

    • i found that the problem is the Hd7950 only has hdmi 1.4 which is not support [email protected] can output 4k@60hz,however this tv doesn't has displayport :(

I am seeking diplayport to hdmi 2.0 adapter if this thing is existi.

      • Definitely appears to exist from the quick Google I made, and it appears that 4k@60Hz will work fine.

If all fails, you can always try to return it or sell it to me since I'm Sydney too :p.

        • See if you can score a GTX970 off Gumtree for around $250. I have seen some ads around that figure. That supports HDMI 2.0 and will give you 4K output. Cheers

      • You can't upscale hardware. Don't waste your money on adapters. GTX970 is the go. Cheers

  • we need a thread for Android TV boxes

  • +2

this grub is selling it on gumtree for $650. Thinks he's smart making a profit. I've offered him 50 cents
    http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/blacktown/tvs/brand-new-jvc-4…

    • I just saw it lol, maybe I should post it as a deal on ob as a troll

      • +1

Yeah you could, then get everyone on ob to spam the crap out of him lol. Scum like that do not belong. He probly saw the deal on here and then gets an idea of making a profit.

        • sure he did and I could. But I'll just leave him be, probably trying to make a living or pay his school fee.

        • @mcp2kpro:

Its not making a living ripping people off though
Its a blatent rip off, the TV doesn't retail for 650 to begin with and you can get a 65 inch Bauhn for 799 so hes not fooling anyone
I caught one grub out but didn't bother too much with them

they soon learn no one is going to pay them 650 for a TV when you can get brand names for not much more

        • +1

          @shawncro 222:
          Spot on mate!

    • +1

Just post an ad for this deal to under cut him 😂

  • +1

I just picked one up from BigW Bonnyrigg, here in South Western Sydney.

You have to ask the lady at the photo counter and they will get one for you from out the back.

She said they still had plenty left out back.

    Good luck!!

    • Bong on…

  • 2 left at Morayfield as of right now!!

EDIT: Make that none. Someone just came in and took both.

    • +1

Meeeeeee :) well, I took one! Very happy with my purchase so far.

      • Haha, nice one. As I got there to pick up mine on hold the girl took one out the back on hold and someone else grabbed the last one off the shelf.

Great bang for ya buck with this TV.

  • Picked up last one from Belmont this morning (it was out back)

  • Wahhhh none more left in SA it seems…….

  • Picked up one of these from Watergardens BigW, they also have a similar 49" model for $350.
Very decent unit for $328, similar 4K JVC models have Walmart (US) buyers complaining about sound quality but it's quite OK for the price, picture quality very good great way to get a 4K tele for the money. Very crisp image colours have a good depth and clarity as it can sometimes be hit or miss with cheaper units.
Plugged my mini gaming tower in the HDMI port and did not have to adjust resolution, scaling, aspect ratio, etc.. as I have had to do with Panasonic/LG tv's before.

    • Did you pick it up from Watergardens today? I called them in the morning and they said they had none in the stock.

      • Yesterday morning, sorry mate.
They told me they didnt have the 48" for $328 either, but a 49" for $350 still a Ultra HD TV same brand so I went in to get that one and they said they ended up finding the cheaper one that someone put on hold but changed their mind so I just got the cheaper.
So unless they sold it within 24 hours, they should still have a JVC 49" 4K TV for $350.

        • ahh ok, thanks mate. Yea, I asked them about the 49" as well. But that seems to have disappear as well. Cheers.

  • Does anyone know if the box would fit in a toyota corolla?

    • +1

Should do. Many have carried larger 📺 in a Corolla

    • Yes it will!!

  • Does this have a standard headphone jack or do you need an optical adapter?

    • as outlined to other people
      has optical and coaxial outputs
not sure why people dont search the thread -_-

      • I saw that but I'm talking about a 3.5mm headphone hole, i take it I'll need a converter from evilbay?

        • no it doesnt have a 3.5mm output
I believe these days its redundant
          best bet is ebay

  • Does anyone else notice free to air TV to be a bit blurrier than normal on this TV? The 10 year old Samsung I replaced with this JVC was much clearer for normal channels.

    • haven't had any issues cvas
probably need to turn off the "features" in the menus

    • +1

I have the same problem, SD channels are blurry but HD channels are much better.

  • any1 confirm Doncaster or Highpoint?

    • Neither of them have any in the stock. Called them today about 15 minutes ago.

  • OK so now I do not have any sound from an IPTV box. Was working fine with a Toshiba, but no sound with this JVC?

Connected via HDMI, swapped cables, swapped ports, have sound from my PC which is also via HDMI but IPTV no go:(

    Ideas?

    • how are you connected
HDMI sound works fine for me
      as does optical Out

      • Connected via HDMI. Read some other forums that have indicated an issue with some brands like Sony and Panasonic that need menu adjustment, but it seems that menu adjustment is not available on this model. Hummm…refund….

        • Check your iptv box settings for sound output mode

          I havent had issues

Menu 1147 gets into service mode
          check audio submenu

        • @shawncro 222: OK check. Thanks. Actually it is not strictly IPTV brand but another box but will check settings there too.

Another thing I noticed is, the text on normal SD channels is little fuzzy but the HD channels are crisp and clear. Anyone else notice that. Even the picture on SD channels comes as OKish where as with the earlier TV (non full HD) it was clear and crisp.

          Learning brave new world…

        • @some_one_some_where:

I tuned my TV from the aldi thread on whirlpool, fixed many of the out of box gremlins
I don't watch normal free to air but my inputs from iq3 were all nice quality over hdmi

at this price point I can live with it, perhaps buying an external tuner might help

they cut corners in certain areas, by the sounds of it a poor default tuner setting, tweaking the picture in service mode can yield good results

        • @shawncro 222: Thanks again, will look through the menus. But I guess as there isn't too much HD content free to air there is not much point in changing over right now! For example 9HD is sharp but 9SD is barely watchable.

        • @some_one_some_where:

dont 9SD and 9HD play the exact same content anyway?

        • @Circly: No SD is standard and HD is High definition. Well at least that is what I think and the difference was huge.

        • @some_one_some_where:

That's my point, why don't you just watch it in HD and disable disable SD?

        • @Circly: There is very limited HD content available on free to air to watch.

  • Bought 2 at plumpton nsw. When i called they said they had a few left in the training room.

  • +1

Drove 63 kms just to get this tv at Hallett Cove Sa. One more left when i left big w at 5pm and still a 49 inch 4k uhd too which has $449 tag but as someone said it should be in the system for under $400.

    • Whaaaaat, I went in there yesterday (along with a few other stores), and they said that there were none left. Well, I'm annoyed.

      • +1

Sorry mate don't know what to say…I called nearly all the stores around SA and gave up because at first I didn't want to drive so far but decided I couldn't let such a good deal go by and luckily when I called in I got a very nice worker who put it on hold for me until I could arrive after a 1 plus hour drive. I guess maybe call in first thing tomorrow if you can and hope you get the same guy and that there is one left which also hasn't been put on hold or was sold as Big W closed at 7pm that day. Make sure you ask about both the 48' and 49' as someone said before the 49' is only selling for $30 more. Good luck.

        • Went in there at opening time today and picked the last one up. They checked out back this time, didn't do that at any stores that I went to on Tuesday. The 49 was still there, but they said it was over $400, so take that as you will. Thank you so much, mate! Enjoy yours!

        • +1

@Huxley: Glad I was able to help.

  • +1

Before I unpack can anyone tell me how far apart the stand's are?

    • +4

Around 87cm outer point of the stand and inner(where the screws are) is around 69cm.

      • Thanks so much for the reply!

  • Picked one up from Bonnyrigg Big W today, still plenty of stock. Have to ask the Technology counter at the back for it though.

  • +1

Just like to report that the new T.V is a huge improvement gaming wise from my previous 32' Dick Smith Full HD T.V. Playing The Witcher on normal PS4 is so much smoother and better looking than it was on the Dick Smith T.V. Glad to report that there is no issues with the T.V too. Does anyone have any advice on what to change any settings on the T.V for gaming? I tried looking through the whirlpool page someone linked but there is way too many conflicting posts and I'd rather hear from someone here.

    • +1

      Hi Dezza

      That would of been me

Turn HDMI enhanced mode on as it reduces input lag considerably
Disable any other noise reduction settings in the advanced / picture menu

Dicksmith TV was horrible for input lag

      • +1

Thanks so much Shawn you've been very helpful throughout the post. If it's not too much to ask can I bother you to post up what you have set your color and picture settings and also any settings you changed through menu 1147? If it's too much of a bother then please don't worry.

        • +1

I have left most of it stock
turned backlight down to 70 and turned sharpness down to 35
turned off any noise reduction as it just adds input lag and in all honesty the PS4 / Xbox One S does a good enough job for sharpness.
left mostly everything else default as I haven't had time to tweak this panel professionally yet

Granted the price point, I am very happy I picked it up

        • +1

@shawncro 222: Excellent! Thanks again Shawn! For only $330 this t.v is well worth it.

        • @dezza112:

          No worries

          Ticks all the boxes
          Samsung Panel
          8bit Colour Gamut
          60hz
Chroma 4:4:4 (important for monitor usage on PC)
          4K
Xbox One S looks glorious on it
overall very happy with my purchase
Its the same TV as the Aldi 48 inch sold a few months ago, I have a feeling most of these brands all come from the same warehouse

If it lasts a year thats fine by me

  • Can someone please do me a favour and check the manual to see what temperature the product can operate at? I'm looking to put it outdoors under the patio.

    Thanks

  • Quick Request: Does this model allow disabling of inputs not in use and selection of inputs using just one button (so I can use the "source" key pressed multiple times to scan/toggle through the various inputs).

  • Does anyone else have these black lines about 1.5 inch apart running down vertically? Mine only really shows when the t.v is displaying a black background then it's really noticeable. Still not a huge game-breaker for me and loving everything about the t.v but i'm just wondering if this is normal for other people or should I try and get it fixed through warranty?

    • I'm not sure about the vertical lines. I haven't had the TV for long though, and have just set it up, but so far the display seems vertical line free.

  • I just picked up the last TV at Brookside, Brisbane. So far I'm very happy. The display was washed out at first, but I lowered the brightness and changed the contrast and colour settings and now it looks great. As for the operating temperature, I couldn't find anything in the manual. I can't seem to be able to disable inputs, however, it does let you toggle through them using only the 'input' button on the remote - you do have to also use the 'Ok' button to confirm :)

    • thats a standard issue with the cheaper sets, you do need to tweak them up

Service mode and HDMI enhanced mode settings will make it 100 times better

Colour temprature is not related to operating temprature, colour temprature is how colours are displayed either warm, cool, normal which I believe changes backlight and colour gamut profiles

      • Not only cheaper sets, I also need to tweak my Samsung 60" to get it better.

I saw the display one at Winston Hills still label $469 but they have the 55" and some other brands on sales.

I don't need one so I didn't ask whether they may have stock inside.
