TCL 75" C655 QLED 4K Google TV $899.99 Delivered @ Costco Online (Membership Required)

1090

Ozb community's fav tv is back on sale, possibly ATL or close to that. Newer models are out but this price is hard to beat. Could even be slightly cheaper in store. JB likely wont price match costco - depending on who you speak to I guess. Any chance JB would do the soundbar 17% off deal with a tv?

and I'm hoping, if used with Fire TV, the reviewed Google TV lags won't even matter

    • +1

I haven’t even set up the built in software. Skipped everything and went straight to my firestick

    • Is the firestick better than a chrome cast with Google tv?

  • Does Costco deliver?
Hard to fit this in my old Prado.

    • +4

It says delivered in the title…

if you click the link also says

      Price includes delivery

Thanks, should have gone to Specsavers.
Now I just have to become a Costco member :-)

Costco have an optometrist in (most) stores… 😉 so thats handy lol!

    • Delivery is up to 3 weeks we found out, though ended up being 12 days to the Gold Coast on a TV last month.

If they don't price match Costco see if they'll do this

    • While it was out of stock on Costco (and also I don't have a membership/am anywhere close to a Costco).

I can confirm that JB Hi-Fi did price match Save on Appliances for me, thanks for the link!
Here's the JB Hi-Fi link for anyone else keen: https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/tcl-75-c655-4k-uhd-qled-g…

Also, it was still free delivery at the end of the day. (Had to send to a friend's house in a metro area, as my address was not available for delivery, but I'm used to that XD)

  • Are the feet adjustable? Have a soundbar I want to place below it

    • wall mount maybe?

    • fixed positions (screw on) *source: I own

  • Thanks OP

  • Anyone have experience as to how the
    C655 compares to the C745?

    • +3

Get C745 if you have a current gen console for the 4k 144hz

    • +3

I've seen both in store and my opinion (for what it's worth) is you just can't go the C655 @ 75". The picture is just too bad.
Obviously if you're using it only for viewing at generous distances (greater than 6m) then it's probably ok, but the C745 was that much better at the circa 3-4m I was viewing.

      • Thanks. Appreciate your personal comparison of the two.

      • Both panel are the same resolution, provided you play the same content I don't see how the C655 is worse than the C745 at 75". The PPI/DPI is identical. Only real difference is the VRR and the max refresh rate of 144, which is good if you have a current gen console.

        https://www.displayspecifications.com/en/comparison/bc822b34…

        • The resolution might be the same, but I can tell you looking at the same demo movie playing on them both - the 655 clearly had challenges displaying shades of black and looked 'blocky' next to the 745.
I don't know technically what might cause it, but it was there.

          • @hoondaboy: Biggest difference as far as I know is that the C745 has Full array local dimming, so the blacks will be blacker and more contrast.
Not as good as mini-LED but better than edge lit.

  • Excellent reviews here for most of the Aussie TCL's….

    https://cybershack.com.au/reviews/tcl-c745-qled-4k-google-tv…

I really wanted this size C655 but IMO local dimming is essential and not available on the C655 line.

  • It's on pare with Hisense and Samsung tv, great refresh rates and bright colour contrasting, this price is a gonna be ozbaragined.

    • +2

Refresh rates? Great? Isn't this one 60Hz

    • +2

That's a bit of a meaningless statement. Samsung and Hisense both have terrible TV's as well as amazing TV's.

For example, the C655 is a lot better than the popular budget DU models from Samsung, loosely on par with the mid-range Q models (particularly the Q70D), and doesn't come close to the premium QN models.

  • $850 in store Moorabbin 3 left in boxes in the rack when I bought mine just now

    • Hi grover77, I bought the 55in 55c655 model but I was bit able to play back TV recording on my plugged in usb. I tried reading the user manual but couldn't figure out how. When I p.ug in the usb into my pc, I can see the files in the PVR directory. However when I plug it back into the TV, I can't see the recording. I can record TV programs but don't know how to see them and play back. Will be grateful if you can shed some light?

  • My Samsung 75 854$ got cancelled I'm sad

    • same :(

      are you gonna get this?

    • Wow what deal was that? I couldn’t find one like that.

  • Worth hanging on and paying a little extra for the c855?

    • +4

      isn't the c855 75 inch $2187 at jb hifi? That's not a little extra

      • It's been down closer to 2, but yep you're correct

  • -1

what's the height of this tv without stand?

    • +2

      Product Dimensions Product: W 1666 x H 958 x D 69.5 mm
      Product With Stand: H 1028 x W 1666 x D 343 mm
      With Packaging: D 178 x W 1850 x H 1125 mm

Is clicking on the product and reading the webpage really a bridge too far for you?

      • sorry I was looking at TGG with the dimensions and other websites and they didn't specify without stand. thanks.

  • TGG not coming to the party unless I prove I have a Costco membership

  • +1

We need them to stock the 98C855!

  • Wow, great price. Was thinking of getting a C855 but I'm wondering if it's even close to twice as good as this for image?

    • +1

Oh yeah the C855 is definitely worth the money. C655 is only 450 nits brightness from memory whilst the C855 is 3500 nits which is more than any OLED. C855 also uses Quantum Dot tech along with full array 2160 local dimming zones, compared to only ~100 dimming zones on the C655, which results in the C855 having much much darker blacks, comparable to OLED

Jb doing free delivery on 75 and up TVs, my local JB happy to match Costco pricing. They said 900 spent at Jb is better than 900 in Costco bank.
Seeing this tv in store it’s easy to see why one would pay more for a better tv. Luckily still have a few days to decide and not dive in just yet.

    • +1

Which JB store is that? They might also give you another 15% off if you get a soundbar with that

  • Very happy with my 65" version of this. Tweaked a few settings in movie mode and it looks pretty good. For reference I was coming from a $400 EKO 4K TV, so someone upgrading from last years TCL may not think it's as nice as I do.

  • How does this compare to the C4 Oled?

    • You’d want the C855 for something comparable to OLED

    • +1

You could buy 4.5 of these TCL 75s for the price of an equivalent LG C4 77” on sale at JB for approx 4200. That’s how it compares.

    • Not even close, but that's to be expected at this price

  • Great TV for the price. I gave the Native Google TV a go. I was expecting for it to be a sloppy mess and I’d need to just plug my Google TV Dongle but it’s surprisingly decent. Enable developer mode and limit background processes and its run like a dream. Audio also is not bhed.

Obviously you can spend extra to get more stuff but it’s certainly the pick at this price point.

This is better deal than the Samsung 55" S90C OLED 4K Smart TV (2023) for $749, you also get way bigger screen as well.

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/877100

    • OLED > QLED

      • Man what's the difference haha

  • +2

I recently bought one and it is pretty good, the picture quality is good too, what i dont like is google os. I would say its bad, it does lag. Firestick is better compared to the os that comes with it but if you need a really smooth experience apple tv is the way to go if you do use apple products though.

  • +3

Just FYI for those who are interested, this TV is only 60Hz, which is fine, but imo, not ideal if you plan to do gaming.

  • +1

@randomdude14 this is the ATL price. With free delivery would be worth the cost of Costco Membership.

  • Thinking about buying this for my mother-in-law.

Is the OS terrible? I sound terribly bad with tech asking this, but how difficult is it to hook up the mentioned Firestick if I need to provide her over the phone instructions (65 y/o)?

I use a console at home for streaming and have been doing so for years…

    • +1

The O/S is ok Alright if you know what you are doing. If they watching mainly TV you have to go into settings to remember the last thing done, eg TV. You might have to either go instore with your MIL to test it out or if you buy, give her a crash course.

      • Gotcha - cheers

  • Are we going to see something similar for C745 75 anytime sooon??

  • How does the 655 compare to the 755 in brightness? For the price is the 655 low brightness ok for a 75inch?

I only watch at night time in a mostly dark environment. Maybe I should go see instore I want to price match with JB.
