  • should probably put the store name in the title

  • gotta admit - some of those prices on the website are pretty good.

  • damn, if only horleys ice whey was on special =(

    • Ah damn, I won't bother looking now…

  • How are the use-by dates?

    • None of these products are old stock. We gaurantee a minimum of 6 months on all stock but generally products will have 1-2 years.

  • Where are the 50% off items? The largest discount I can see is 40%, and that's only off 1 item

  • -1

Personally I DON'T think these items are very cheap even after the special. I did a quick comparison with a US website and even after the AUD conversion things are still drastically cheaper (if you don't mind waiting the extra week for shipping). Do you research before you purchase! Don't be sucked in by these "huge discounts".

  • phatinc, you must take into account the relevant custom laws etc when buying international. Many of the products people buy from USA get rejected by customs as they dont have the relevant paperwork so there is less risk buying from AUS retailer. Some cheap deals here, especially on the Optimum Nutrition. + from me.

    • Which is why I've said "Do your research before you purchase!".
If you're scared customs will take your item, it only means you don't know the facts. Do your research and find out. AusCustoms has everything you need to know about importing on their website. Obviously if you can purchase it from Australia you don't need to worry about purchasing it from overseas.

Optimum Nutrition is definitely cheaper at the US competitor website; I personally have made purchases and nothing has gone wrong.

      • I was lead to believe you cannot bring in protein, but things like creatine, NO products etc is ok. ie non milk or egg based products. I could be wrong though.
Protein in the US is very cheap compared to here. Freight often makes it very expensive though. If you can get a good deal on freight, get from the US.

phatinc- which website are you talking about. Have you brought in ON Whey?

By same token, I think you will find 80% or more of ALL products are a lot cheaper in the US than here, are you going to give -ve to all these items.

        • egg and milk or whey proteins cannot be imported, besides you wouldn't want US protein as their dairy industry has some of the worst standards. Local NZ protein is best and highly sought after

          • @chyawala: Didn't know that you can't bring in protein.

The website is vitacost.com there was an advertisement and that's how I started, but yes I've brought in ON whey and (I checked after I ordered) Yohimbine. I guess I was extremely lucky.

            • @mrblu: I've imported a lot of protein while the aussie dollar was strong from the US and all of it got through customs fine. This included one order that was around 10kg.

The customs laws on proteins recently changed so just have a quick read on the website.
That said bodybuilding.com still blocks most things to save them any hassle just in case. You can usually buy the same products in stacks and they get through with no problems

              • @kingzac: You need a license to import whey protein (excluding NZ). If you have got any whey protein through in the past it was by pure luck.

      • what site are you buying from

from all my US orders - NO and creatine have come through fine, last few orders all whey has been taken

how many times have you bought ON and from what sites?

      • This is true for some things but not for others i.e Superpump 250 by Gaspari has Turkesterone which is a controlled substance yet it is sold freely here. Import licenses are needed for some products.

  • +1

Not that good discount on the gold standard whey from ON- i get my 4.7kg bag from supplement warehouse for $135. And whoever said u cant get in protein from the US- i get all my preworkouts from the US ( bodybuilding.com) they have cheap prices but you gotta pay for delivery. there are only some specific creatines and preworkouts that you cant buy here in aus.

  • so your saying that purchasing pre workout NO products (ie superpump and jack3d) is fine through bodybuilding.com, but whey proteins wont get through customs? I have heard all supplements are confiscated by customs without signed product listing?

    • well i got my controlled lab products ( white flood, purple in train, and green magnitude) all from bodybuilding.com without any hassles. i gotta agree the jack3d product on the musclecoach site is pretty cheap though

    • "so your saying that purchasing pre workout NO products (ie superpump and jack3d) is fine through bodybuilding.com, but whey proteins wont get through customs?"

that is what I believe. I have ordered stuff like superpump etc from US websites. I have not tried ordering protein as i was lead to believe it would be confiscated by customs

      • The protein powder I have now, is made in USA but bought here.

On returning from a trip to the US 2 years ago I had a 5lb container of open (I used it while I was there) protein powder, that I brought back AND declared to quarantine on the way in, the official looked at everything I had and passed it without comment (they didn't look at the detailed description, just the advertised name on the container ie Protein powder).

I am wondering where you got the info from. And with our free trade agreement with the US, customs wouldn't seize products only Quarantine, would be the ones involved.

  • you (slm777) also said you get ON 4.7kg for $135 from supp warehouse, ive checked http://www.supplementwarehouse.com.au/search.aspx?id=24 and its $145.95, so this seems to be the lowest price for ON i can find from AUS retailer. Thanks for the info on the controlled lab products, i will investigate now - the AUS retailers put massive markups on these products.

    • umm i went to the bankstown store and the first price he told me was 135. btw before when it was advertised for 150 i asked for a cheaper deal and he always gives a small discount ( 5-10 bucks)

  • Hey, im interested in getting "Optimum Nutrition Serious Mass", but wanting the chocolate flavour, how long would it take to get to melbourne and how much is the shipping?
    thanks

    • Hey camMMM, the Australian distributer of Serious Mass is currently out of stock. We would expect more stock to arrive in approx. 1 week. Order will generally arrive in Melbourne within 3 business days. You can place your order now while prices are on special and we will send your order as soon as more stock arrives. Alternatively, we have a limited number of the strawberry flavour still in stock.

  • so can I bring in Protein?
I'm interested in products from vitacost.com
    any problems?

    • No you cannot, there is a slim chance you might make it through customs, but most likely it will be unsuccessful and you will have to chase down your money.

  • I can get 100% of these products cheaper WITHIN AUSTRALIA. While most products will get into australia fine, some products i.e Proteins/Amino Acids, those with Hawthorne Berry and a handful of others will get stopped at customs.

This shop is not cheap for proteins, but around the average. I have found the 10lb (4.7kg) Optimum Bag for $135 SHIPPED DOMESTICALLY

No hate on the shop, I just hate it when it says "it will never be repeated again", because there's cheaper places already

    • Also Jack3d can be found for as little as $40-$45 on eBay, along with most of the other products here. For proteins you should go with trusted brands always (less fillers. Xtreme Formulations is by far the best, profile and taste wise, with Optimum and Gaspari second. Avoid most of the Australian brands except for Lee Priest Nutrition (very good, but also pricey) and Vital Strength

      • Hey karanb360.

Where can you get a 10 lbs bag of ON 100% Whey for $135 delivered??

I'm struggling to find it fur under $150 delivered.

        Ta

        • Knockout Nutrition in St. Mary's or Vitamin King It's 150 on the site but go in and ask the guy and he will take some $$$ off, especially if you are buying more products at the same time

      • yea and if u go to ASN they always try to push you to buy their brand- evolve.. none of my friends who use this recommend it

  • I consume WPI from ProfessionalWhey, it's not the cheapest.

But it does not contain any fillers, additives & mixes really well with water (no lumps here!) and yes it's from NZ cows :P

I know others that order theirs from the US without any issues, they have never had any held by customs.

  • the cheapest price I can find for ON whey, plus free shipping for orders over $200, A1 wouldnt even give it to me for $140 if i brought 3 bags! Supplement Warehouse want $155 plus $10 for delivery! so beats me how it can be got for $135 delivered

    • if u live near bankstown go in yourself and ask. last time i went i got it for $135. im sorry but i dont know if he changes the price for delivery. if you live near burwood u can go to 'mikes supplements', he gives good prices too.

      • well its not really 135 shipped than, online this is the best price ive seen! In melb so burwood is a no go. cheapest shop ive found supps at is chapel street melb $145 for the optimum bag
