$1099 it is not
So BigW buys in limited number of these for a catalog sale to sell at $599 but says after the promotion the price will go up $500!??
They've done a few of these type of dodgy catalog pricing deals before…
Deal title lists $1099 as "WAS" price - but no indication that is true. Its not currently stocked according to BigW site, so no "was" price a valuable..
Catalogue lists this as a possible future price if stock remains past promo period.JB sell probably same model for $698 (if so should price match). Can't see the price increasing to $1099 after promo. If they don't sell out at $599, they'd never sell for $1099. They will want all stock gone by then.
So seems deceptive advertising.
Something to be aware of.If buying, don't forget to buy discount Wish cards to reduce price paid by at least 5% ($30)😯
They have been sitting in Shepparton Big W for the last 2 weeks makes at $1099.So they have been trying to sell them at that price.
Not saying that's what they are worth but that's the price they have been selling them for.
Thanks - so there was a was price on this model. Price was not available online.
Still, I doubt there will be stock left at end of sale for price to increase by $500.
Looking at my Google history. This was the model.

@crift85:
You were interested @$1099😯
Model @JB for $698 thanks to OP.@Infidel:
I did see what price it was at JB Hi-Fi. The only reason I had looked it up was to see if it had ambilight.@crift85: is ambilight still made? I think someone I know had one of them 6 or more years ago
There needs to be a proper website that somehow reviews and benchmarks all these 55" 65" etc TVs..
Too many to choose from not enough information to warrant a but (well for me at least).
I usually like to research heavily before I buy especially on a big purchase such as this.
This site is pretty good for comparisons: http://www.rtings.com
So. Many. TV. Deals
Must resist
BigW email lists this deal as "in store only".
So how does this compare to the 50" Panasonic tv from Harvey Norman at $595?
Panasonic is 5" smaller but more reputable brand (Philips may rebadge other unknown manufacture's products), this is relatively unknown model so hard to compare & Pana has reviews & 89 upvotes in previous HN deal for $100 20 days back, can buy this with Wish cards for $30 less,..
Other two @ bigw:
Philips 55" FHD LED TV $599 (Was $1099)
LG 49" FHD LED TV $648 (Was $1196)Too much Christmas cheer - you're repeating your offers😀
Other is 32" JVC @$209 "save $90" but is only HD.
hehe, sorry, actually, just wanted to put LG there.
So many new model UHD sets that are cheaper.
Even if you don't care for 4K movies, they are great for looking at still photos. All the LCD panels are similar these days (OLED is awesome). The processing varies, but that doesn't seem to matter if you are using a set-top PVR/streaming/games rather than the built-in tuner.
Philips closed down their TV factories years ago, and sold the TV branch to the Chinese in 2011.
Does that mean its just another Akai / Polaroid type badge these days? And better than ALDI or Big W?Philips officially sells its TV division to Hong Kong-based TPV in 2012
Thanks - suspected as much about Philips being like the long list of former reputable electronics & TV brand names sold off, like Akai, AWA, JVC, etc. Seems they still have a stake in the tv's though.and they are brought into OZ by Tempo another reason to steer well clear.
They also bring in and support(lack off) for the Aldi Bauhn Brand.
Yale Prima do the same for JVC Akai and other Brands you loved and trusted.Ah, Tempo - lots of complaints of lack of customer service on Whirlpool. They approached me to improve quality control in the Bauhn range at Aldi. I'd stay clear of rhem.
Kinda dodgy to be putting Rogue One on the TV in the ad, like it's some sort of magic TV.
Any idea on the model number?
