      Meaner people. Bulliest thing ever.

$495 with two Amex cards, wow

Looks like they were charging $995 for this model just 3 days ago.

  • +4

OMG! I have not enough rooms in my house for all tempting TV deal listed here, they are slightly bigger than eneloops to stack them on a shelf.

  • Amex deal expires

    • +2

You mean max enrollments have been achieved not expired.

      • yep

  • Hmm… This or ALDI TV…

    • +1

I think both are great options. Aldi have a fantastic returns policy, but I'm still running my first and only non-CRT which is a VIErA plasma, which has not skipped a beat in 7 years (which, really, should be the standard!)

      • Yeah .im 6 going on 7 and it's going to be hard to follow up on that.

    • Um definitely this one

  • I prefer the look of full hd 1080p to UHD 4k. The picture quality on this is likely to be miles ahead of the likes of the Aldi.
As a bonus, Panasonic and Sony TVs typically have very good sound.

    • No - IMHO Panasonic sound is not good. I bought the matching viera soundbar to compensate.
And I still think the Kogan soundbar sounds better.

Not sure there's that much UHD viewing to worry about.
It's watching the SD channels after watching a HD channel/movie that makes my eyes bleed.
I wish FTA would "Catchup" with the rest of the world.

Might hold out for a better cashback offer ;)

    • Hahaha, nice find.

This seems to be available to all?
Can anyone confirm Amex cashback works buying this way?

It doesn't provide for pickup though so it is delivered for $59.95, making it $685.45 delivered (or $585.45 with Amex cashback).

      • I didn't see the delivery only option. Good pick up.

  • I like to make myself feel bad at Christmas. Is this better than this deal I bought:

I prefer Sony. I have a 50" from a DSE Boxing Day deal a couple of years ago. Haven't looked back.

I wouldn't worry. Good purchase. You'll enjoy it. Happy Christmas!

Edit - trawled through old deals to find it. This is the one I pounced on. <3 ozb

  • I have a feeling this is a pricing error and Harvey Norman will refund once again

    • Doesn't seem like it.
Just got a comfirmation email for pick up!

Unsure for this specific TV but the 55" 1080p "smart" Viera TV I bought two years ago is incredibly slow and the Apps are very scarce. The mobile App is also incapable of turning the TV on, its only for use after the TV has been turned on despite it's network capabilities which could easily be used to WoL they chose not to do this - So might as well just use the physical remote.

If you're looking for a good smart TV you might want to research the OS first and what you want out of it.

Not saying this TV is bad, just sharing my experience with a previous model - Do some research first.

Good price but it is only FHD after all, this is getting very old very fast. Buying 1080p you are buying 1/4 the pixels of a 4k screen.

Good price but it is only FHD after all, this is getting very old very fast. Buying 1080p you are buying 1/4 the pixels of a 4k screen.

I don't disagree with you but luckily those 25% are the only pixels you need most of the time. If I were in the market for a TV, I'd buy this one in a heartbeat and then perhaps upgrade to an OLED in a few years time.

      • Yep. My HD pana plasma is still going strong with no reason to replace it. Hoping it lasts long enough for OLED to be the same size and price that I paid for mine in 2010.

        • My Panasonic plasma died a couple of years ago. Got a Sony Bravia which I love but man, those Panasonic plasma TVs are the pinnacle of TV greatness

        • @imurgod:
I see them going cheap on gumtree and sometimes I'm tempted to pick one up as a spare but resist. Hope for just another 2 years of life from it

Is it just me or is the 'Smart TV' function (OS, UI, lag) now a liability rather than a promotional aspect on modern TVs?

    • +1

If it's Android it's a great selling point I feel but the rest are junk.

      • +1

I agree, I'm pretty impressed with my android TV (Sony w800c)

      • Yep, bought a Samsung 'Smart enabled' TV a few years ago and can't stand the lag and buggy UI; I never use it and haven't for about 18mths.

    • Seems to be. Never updated, older Android version and full of bugs. Better off with a half decent TV Box.

    • +2

I'd rather TV's have none of that smart TV crap. I'm still rocking a ~7 year old Windows Media Centre in my lounge and use it for everything. Don't think I've ever used the in-built tuner on my plasma.

    • Is it true they push mandatory Ads onto you also

      • Never heard of a TV OS that does this. If so, return it immediately for a refund.

    • +1

Yeah, whether the TV is smart or not has zero bearing on my decision. I have a smart TV from 2011 and only used the internet capabilities once. Plain and simple - it sucks! and it's slow and laggy.

Give me a HTPC with a wireless keyboard and mouse plugged into the TV anyday.

  • So is this a quality tv or just they sold their name to cheap crap like hitachi ?
is it smart tv and can it do plex?
    cheers

I don't see how this is a deal? FHD is old technology. I picked up my Sony 60" FHD LED Smart TV from JB Boxing day nearly two years ago and paid $995.

$695 for a small (Small compared to the now popular 55-60-65-70" sizes) outdated TV seems like standard pricing, and if anything still seems high for what it is.

50" Panasonic 4K TV for $695 would be slightly more appealing.

    • +1

I personally think 50" might be a bit small now, 60" and above is where it's at!

  • +2

    49" Sony Bravia X70D 4K 799 at costco

  • Costco and Sony..
, great deal.. just none in WA !!

    • in stock Osborne Park WA

  • great deal! luv our 50" st60 plasma got via here at appliances online for $997 still running perfect esp with the synology ds216 play nas and amazon fire tv kodi sideloaded. if was in market for a office second tv this would go to top of list.
