  • Screen size in your description says 55" for some reason

    • Thanks fixed

  • I am willing to spend till $700 so do you think below is best deal currently? As I dont see any other SONY, LG or Samsung 48" Smart TV in this budget.

Panasonic 40" 4K UHD LED LCD Smart TV $695 (Was $795)(harveynorman.com.au)

    • Oops, sorry my bad - just realized its 40" not 48" :( damn

      • Check Sony sales. I'd rather get a 4K with HDR so it's futureporofed.

        • +1

There are multiple competing HDR standards atm so good luck with it being "futureproof".

        • @coxymla: that's my exact fear. Between dolby and HDR10 EFF knows who is going to win. We didn't need another HD DVD vs blue ray and yet here we are.

        • +1

          How can anything be futureproof?

    • Hisense 4k hdr tv are under a grand 50" and most likely dropping in price after Boxing Day. I'd hold out.

      • -1

HDR on Hisense TVs are usually crap unless you go for a very expensive model.

        • I beg to differ based on forums and reviews to date as well as what I've seen on new 7 series models that stack up 2000$ units

  • Anyone happen to have any experience with this tv, thinking of getting this for my PS4 and can't seem to find any reviews online

  • This is a great price!! The Good Guys are $995

    • TGG are a rort. So Not a great yardstick

      • +3

And hardly normal is any better?

        • Hardly.

Sorry guys, just wondering, how to get the amex deal ? I do have amex card, but i havent used it at all. Do i have to sign up or anything ? Cheers.

    • +1

Well the offer is now closed for the AMEX offer, the link to it is even in the main deal….

Deal been over for weeks. Don't even know why ppl refer to it anymore. Those that got it have probably used it already.

      • not true, been holding out on boxing day sales with mine, it expires 31/12/16 anyway

        • What u gonna get? Hope u don't waste it on this tv

        • @Gavman: was hoping for some dyson vacuum sales, at least i get a accessory pack, ill take it

        • @Kawaisaki: get a Pacvac 700 and get better qual at a better price (like around $300 Vs $800+) + parts that are Cheap! (cloth bag and HEPA Hypercone are machine washable so only need to buy optional paper infill liner).
Minimal maintenance + you get an accessory pack, but realistically, when was the last time you used ANY of the accessories?
          (I run a team of 16 school cleaners who use these every day (23ppl x 10wks x 5days x 2hrs/day)
EDIT: Doesn't look "Dyson Outer-Spacey" so prob why its $400+ cheaper

  • +3

If I use 2 AMEX , maybe I can get $200 off and make it $395 with a $5 item

    • +1

Yep that will work for sure.

  • +1

that's a great price, I paid that much to get my Panasonic Plasma fixed a few months back.

    • +4

To be fair the plasma probably has better picture quality.

      • +3

If its an ST or VT panasonic plasma, do not get rid of it, they are the best tv's short of a top end OLED unit. The blacks and PQ shit on everything else on the market currently.

        • VT owner here, and even though mine has image burn from being in a display at the shop I still use it as my main TV, only see the burn in very light scenes with flat colours, and beats the pants off any LCD/LED that I have come across. True blacks and amazing contrast in dark scenes which are my two major gripes of other TVs. Hoping it takes me through to sub 1k 65" OLEDs

    Merry Christmas!

Can't seem to locate whether this tv will do Netflix native and such or will it need to go via chromecast or Apple TV etc?

    Thanks!

    • +1

Can't 100% confirm, but pana viera tv bought 1 year ago has it native. I think this is 1-2 models after?

      Edit: from Panasonic website.

Offering flexibility, easy-access and endless entertainment options, Panasonic’s DS610 TV Series is Netflix, Lightbox, YouTube, and FreeviewPlus compatible. You can enjoy all of your favourite TV shows and movies, anytime*.

    • Mine is 2 years old at least and supports Netflix (VT55). Don't have Netflix subscription so can't comment on the usability

    • It does, I just bought one this morning and set it up for a family member - even has a Netflix button on remote

  • +1

I think it would. I have a 3 yr old Panasonic Viera and it runs Netflix. I just had to add it to the TV apps when Netflix came to Australia

  • +1

Anyone know what the smart apps are? user interface etc?
I have a hisense TV and its horrible, so this time i'm going to investigate before i purchase

    Edit: Found this http://www.panasonic.com/au/consumer/televisions-projectors/…

Pulled the plug and purchased it. Worth a shot I suppose!

    • i want to know the same thing too!

    • +1

The ones I have are Netflix, iView, SBS, YouTube, all are decent implementations with a few gripes, there are heaps more apps but just don't use them

  • Been looking to use my amex deal for HN but this is way to big to upgrade my old 26 inch tv lol

  • +1

Thanks! My old man has zero need for 4K and was going to pull the trigger on the Big W LG for $649. This is a way better deal!

  • TGG has it advertised for $648 now but comes out at $595.

  • This looks like an awesome deal!

A 50" Panasonic full HD LED Smart TV for $600?!?!

My old 50" Panasonic plasma (still going great after 7 years), was 5 times that price.
Thinking of putting that in the rumpus for the kids, and upgrading to this new one.

It's such a good deal that I'm second guessing myself, thinking I'm missing something.
    Am I missing something?

    • Ok deal. But these days you should be investing in 4k HDR which isn't all that much more these days.

  • I went down to the local HN to get this TV, but while I was there I noticed this other Toshiba deal.
    http://www.harveynorman.com.au/tv-blu-ray-home-theatre/tvs/t…

Only 1 inch smaller but $80+ cheaper.

  • I bought this TV a week ago from HN for $695… does anyone know any tricks to getting the difference refunded?

    • I am in the same boat and want to get the difference

  • Price is showing as $695 now. Is this expired?

    • +1

Looks to be back down to $595 again
