  • Carefull with Scoot as they have very strick no refund policy and name change nor date change is $210 each way or $420.

    • Does that include cancellations or rebookings by the airline?

      • My experiences with Scoot is that, When i wanted to transfer over the name they were asking for $210 dollars each way, and does not allow cancellation nor refund

          "does not allow cancellation" - what if you just dont show up?

        • @Vodafail: Then you don't get anything back, it's forfeit (like most airlines unless you've booked Business Class / First Class)

          @kudoz: yea but you dont get anything back if you cancel?

          @Vodafail:

          On some airlines (Air Asia). If you don't go on an international flight you can try to claim back the "TAX" component of the flight.

          I've done this to good effect previously (considering I expected to get nothing back).

          p.s. Tiger Australia is a joke. Tried to change the name of a domestic flight (I know domestic… but the person who wanted to use it was super paranoid and would have happily paid a $70 change fee). Tiger wanted the $70 + the fare difference ($290), just to change the NAME. I understand them doing this for date changes, but not to just change the name on a flight that was already booked and paid for. They ended up flying on qantas for $260 instead…

        • @hypie: Yeah, a lot of them can be like that - I've had luck in asking for a supervisor and (as you mentioned) politely offering to pay the name change fee, pointing out it will likely help me become a continued customer etc but not the fare difference. Really comes down to who you speak to.

          @hypie: Thai Airways won't do name change at all - they don't allow it.

    All Airlines are ripe for a good boot up the backside by the ACCC. But they are making lots of money out of their outrageous fees and no refund policies etc. And so they won't give those up easily. At least, now, AirAsia refunds taxes if you cancel/fail to take a flight (less a small fee)

    • I agree with this completely, the type of stunts the travel industry pulls is ridiculous (airlines, hotels with their price beat policies etc).
