$10.00 Standard Student Tickets @ Event Cinemas - Monday to Thursday

930
STU2016

Same as this deal but on going.

  1. Make a Cinebuzz student account
  2. Edit my details
  3. Put STU2016 under "promo code"
  4. Order tickets as normal, and under ticket selection should have "Cinebuzz Student" available in yellow.

$10.00 Standard
$14.00 VMAX
+ $1.20 booking fee online

Unlike last time, I didn't need to show ID and I could buy student tickets right away, though may need to show ID in cinema to approve the account (?)

Alternatively, if you go in cinema and ask to purchase "$10 student tickets" you can skip the booking fee. They scanned my barcode and I was able to order 3x tickets at $10.

Worked for me - thanks, OP!

    • +2

OP please edit post to discourage those who aren't students from trying this as it's wrong to encourage it.

      • Not sure why you're responding to my comment, but I'm a full-time student.

        • -2

Just because it's at the top so hopefully op will see!

  • +1

Wait a second, hasn't it always been $10 for an adult ticket? I'm living in ACT.

    • +1

If so you guys are extremely lucky. Adult tickets here are normally $20.50. If you're with Telstra and NRMA they offer vouchers for $12.50 but there's a min. order amount too..

  • +4

Does anyone remember the famous 'Rydges' promo code that gave $10 tickets to Event Cinemas sessions? That was awesome til it was ozbargained. Place it in the ozbargain hall of fame!

    • There was a code I had when I was living in Brisbane that gave me $10 movies at the one in the Myer Center. It was awesome :D

      • I have this for my local Event cinema here, they've bumped it up to $12 now though.

        Still better than $21

  • Does the bar code have to be printed out?
When will be this deal expired?

  • I must be doing something wrong, can't see the $10 option, even after adding the promo code. Halp?

    • Won't work with an existing account

      • +2

Works for existing account. Just edit details and add or change the promo code to STU2016

Mine had STM2012 which i changed to STU2016 and it worked

        Thanks

        • Yep, just did this. Added to my existing account, didn't need to verify my ID. lol

    • Make sure you make a "cinebuzz for students" account

  • +1

Make sure your movie you want to watch is between the days monday to thursday and the code is typed in caps like op stated

  • Yes they might still ask for student ID when buying ticket and you can only use 1 per account (depends on the staff of course.

    • The cinema I go to has self service for online bookings, just need to type in the reservation code & it prints out a ticket. No need to talk to staff haha

  • Really annoyed so many good movies and no cheap tickets last 3~ months for adults? :(

    • +1

Find a friend who's a Bupa, Telstra, or myNRMA customer? Or think of memberships you have and check out their 'member perks'

    • Should have stocked up on some vitamins

      • +1

        I C what you did there…

  • Sweet thanks OP you've just reminded me that Rogue One is released tomorrow. Now I just have to decide to see it at midnight or for $10 through the day. Wait, would this be classed as a NFT ?.

    • +1

It wouldn't be NFT. Since you're paying for it. Watch during the day less people and you won't be tired.

  • How about for existing accounts? My current account still has the STU2016 code but the discount is not showing up :(

Edit: Never mind, just saw the comment above.

  • Just applied the STU2016 code to my account & got the discount. hell yeah. also, the cinema I go to has a self service for ticket collection, so no ID verification :P

  • +7

I might be negged for saying this but I hope Event's "goodwill" towards students isn't affected by Ozbargainers (who are not students).

    • Yeh I hope they clamp down on those who aren't students trying to abuse the system.

This isn't really a bargain but actually stealing if you aren't a student.

If you are a student great deal though!

    • +1

Agree. Student offers are made in good faith and if they are abused, the deal might be (justifiably) withdrawn and poor students like me will have to be even choosier about which movies can be seen in the cinema! (STAR WARS IS SO GOOD!!) Full-priced Event is a rip-off but the Telstra/Bupa/etc tickets for adults is pretty reasonable, and does not jeopardise the students. Also, I've been on this code since the start of the year, and for Myer Centre anyway the tickets have always fluctuated between $6.50 and $8.50, perhaps some combination of a cinema-specific discount and weekday discounts? (Re: ID checking - at Event Myer Centre the counter staff don't check when you pick up the tickets, but the staff at the stairs leading to all the theatres sometimes do, sometimes don't).

  • Meanwhile in the quiet town of Maryborough, Queensland, people are paying $7.50 for a full-priced adult ticket.

    • I feel sorry for those people that have to live in the middle of nowhere.

      • Don't feel too bad. Most of them are jobless bogans.

Lived there for 8 years at the decision of my parents

  • +2

It does approve the promo code in my account. But it seems the price doesn't drop when I am looking for the ticket online?

    • +1

      nvm, it took a while

      • +1

        waiting for mine

  • +3

Or pay $2 for an optus sim and get $8.50 kids tickets and $11 adult tickets, no min order, no payment fee, no online booking fee.

    • +1

Optus Perks are for for Hoyts. This is for Event Cinema's.

    • I looked this up :

Enjoy discounted movies at the cinema from $11.50 for adults, $9.00 for kids and $26.00 for HOYTS LUX.
….Vouchers are available for independent cinemas from $11.00 for adults and $8.50 for kids.
Adult and kids tickets can be used anytime, except after 5pm on Saturdays.

      Pretty confusing
edit : Cleared up, I found the list of 'Independent cinemas'

    • Only mine raised to $11.5?

  • +1

Not working for me. Pretty sure I did everything right.

    • It DOES work. Literally took overnight for the new option to appear but it has.

  • Make sure that you are around normal student age or it might not work.

  • Hasn't worked for me. $17.50 is showing as the student price.

    • You will know it's worked when there's the normal student price, and a special price highlighted in yellow that says student too. Did you make a new Cinebuzz for Students account?

    • +1

Check back today. It took what seems like 8 hours for me to appear but it finally did.

  • Yes. Maybe it doesn't show on a mobile. I must check on a computer.

  • Doesn't work for all users. Used the code last time there was a deal and never got $10 tickets

  • You are right! It is now working having checked today.

  • Cool, it worked. Saw Rogue One in Vmax today for $11.20 :)

    • ??? shouldn't it be 15.2 for Vmax?

      • that what it cost with the student discount, $10 ticket, plus $1.20 for buying it online.

  • Thanks OP. Had to log out and in again after registering and applying code to enable the student option. VMAX for $15.20.

  • Does this work with moonlight
