I bought one last time when it was advertised for about $129. It was well worth it. Good and cheap Blu-ray player.

regarding the 7.1ch, what does it actually do that the 5.1 doesn't? Wouldn't they both bitstream the full audio signal (7.1) to your receiver?

  I'm guessing both are Broadcom reference design. So yes, both would bitstream 7.1 .
  The second one must have 7.1 analog outputs, but who on earth wants that? How many 7.1 amps lack digital input?

    What I have been told is that the 7.1 analogue outputs are for those why have older amplifiers that don't have decoding for dolby True-HD and DTS-HD. Also quieter than the cheaper model.

Anybody know if both these players would be able to transmit audio via Linear PCM as well as Bitstream?
