    Only for US customers.

"Offer only valid for new Amazon Assistant customers in the US."

Also valid only for customers who have never previously used the Amazon Assistant.

    • It worked fine for me. Didn't use any vpn.

    • +2

Just change your kindle store to USA (use a fake address) and try again. Worked for me that way.

  • This promotion is not available in your current locale

  • not working for me

  • This works for me, $5 applies on checkout.

  • I tried it. It said that i had previously used Amazon Assistant, so disallowed.

  • working for me, $5 applied with expiry date 31-Dec.

    • Worked for me too with Dec 31 expiry.

  • not available in your current locale

  • Worked for me, I just change my kindle locale to USA and add a USA address to amazon.

    • Same!

  • "Sorry, you are ineligible to participate in the promotion.
This offer is only valid for customers who have not recently used Amazon Assistant. If you think you are getting this message by mistake, please sign-in with a different account."

Never used it and I guess I never shall.

  • Yup need to change kindle settings to USA - no vpn needed. Works a charm!

  • Worked! Thanks OP

Didn't have to do anything special with VPNs, just install the add-in, click it, and follow the link for the voucher.

Now to find something to buy…

They ain't paying you five bucks for nothing!

    • That's correct, as per the title they're paying it 'for Installing Amazon Assistant Extension'.

  • People who can't make use of it have their Amazon locale set to something other than the US. Worked for me. Thanks OP.

  • Thanks worked for me

Sweet…stacks with that other $10 Amazon credit as well.

    Courtesy Credit: -AUD 13.90
    Amazon Assistant: -AUD 6.95

You're usually better off staying in USD and using a credit card like 28Degress that has no international transaction fees.

      • +3

Why u charge for Bpay payment then huh huh :)

  • So can this be used in conjunction with the previous 10$ voucher that was applied to our accounts previously?

    • +1

      Yeah…just tried it.

  • Noob question - I when I search on Amazon how do I search for items that can deliver to Aus? I can never figure that out and always have to click on the individual item to see if they ship here.
    Thanks!

    • +2

In the filter column on the left hand side with the whole bunch of tick boxes, you can select 'Ships to Australia'.
Alternatively: on a mobile device, select 'Filter >>', and then International Shipping, as in this screenshot:

      • Oh I see! Thank you so much :)

  • How to change the country locale?

    (I have found out! thanks)

  • Thanks OP!

  • How to check if i have received the voucher?

  • Click through the promotional card to redeem credit

Where is it? I cannot find it in the Amazon Assistant plugin.

    • have to wait a while before it pops out

      • I had no luck with Edge and Firefox browsers. Only Chrome was behaving correctly. With Edge, the promo card was never displayed after the tutorial. With Firefox, the plugin did not work at all.

  • Where do you see the credit ( I thought I got a ref-feral credit last week also) so I should see a total of $10 credit but I'm only seeing $5 when I try and check out (with $100USD of goods) - so not sure where to see it.

    • same here

    • I thought I was the only one haha

    • Well doing my own Googling as I could not find out through amazon pages for looking. (from stack exchange)

Direct link (no clicky, must be signed in) https://www.amazon.com/gp/feature.html/?ie=UTF8&docId=100029…

      Lists individual credit balances:

      Amazon Gift Card
      Amazon MP3
      Amazon Instant Video
      Kindle Editions
      Software/Video Games

… however I see a few set of $10 for music and video - but I don't think this applies to the store and if it did why am I only seeing $5 taken off (and can I tell if it is for referral or for this promo?)

    • @Elijha

At the checkout. Are you talking about the $10 credit from the mastercard deal? You won't see that credit unless you are paying with a mastercard.

      • No I had a "$5 Amazon app referral credi' form I guess someone using a link through here (received an email on Dec 2nd advising this). I then was OK'd for this promotion today. I add a $100USD item .. I go to check out it shows a $5 discount. On the final check out screen it shows this:
[x] Use your $5.00 promotional balance (with a check box next to it checked)
Suggesting if i had other credit they would be listed here and 'checkable' .. but there are no others.

    • +5

I had the same issue, it was only showing a $5.00 referral credit when I went to checkout.

But, I already had a shopping cart with items in it before I got this extra Amazon Assistant credit.

I emptied my shopping cart and then re-added the same items again which fixed it up.

      Now shows:

      Amazon App Referral: -$5.00
      Amazon Assistant: -$5.00

      • +1

Hats off to you thats the solution. Clear the cart first then all current credits are applied.

      • Tried that but no joy. I have $5 app referral, $10 courtesy credit (mastercard promo) and a $5.20 gift card (from ???). No $5 Amazon Assistant credit though.

I have stuff in my 'saved for later' part of the cart but that shouldn't be preventing the credit right.

        • Might be worth clearing that saved for later stuff and trying again.

I completely cleared my cart when I did it (including that saved for later stuff).

        • @Chimpus: Cleared my saved for later (moved to wishlist), entered via the Assistant, re-added the items I wanted and the credit was there (along with the other credits). Thanks for the tip!

        • @myfeetarehappy: Glad to hear that it worked, Happy shopping!

Cheers OP worked on Chrome :)

You have to go through the Amazon Assistant icon in your browser (for Chrome top right) and activate the offer first and then follow the link on there for the $5 to show up at checkout

I installed Amazon Assistant from the promotion page. Do I have the $5 discount code now?

In order to receive the $5 discount code, you must not only install Amazon Assistant from the promotion page, but also click on the Amazon Assistant icon in your browser. Once you click it and go through the quick tutorial, you will see a promotional redemption card and should click on the 'Redeem Offer Now' button to claim credit.

Why am I not seeing the promotional redemption card?

To see the promotional redemption card, you need to 1) Install Amazon Assistant from the promotion landing page (www.amazon.com/gp/BIT/aapromo), 2) Confirm that you have not already claimed the credit, and 3) Make sure the promotion is still active and has not expired.

Why am I not seeing the $5 discount at Checkout?

To see the discount at Checkout, make sure that: 1) You start your purchase by clicking on Amazon Assistant, 2) The seller of the item is Amazon.com and not a third party seller, and 3) The eligible items cost at least $25 before shipping and tax.

    • how to go through the "quick tutorial"? can't find the "quick tutorial" from Amazon Assistant

      • Sorry the whole thing was copied from Amazon FAQ. Don't recall going through a tutorial.

Install Amazon Assistant from the promotion page (ie follow the link in OP)
Click on the Amazon Assistant icon in your browser (for Chrome top right)
You should see the $5 promotion there if it worked
Click on the 'Redeem Offer Now' button to claim/activate credit

To see the discount at Checkout make sure that:
        You clear your cart first
You start your purchase by clicking on the link on Amazon Assistant (ie via icon in your browser)
The seller of the item is Amazon.com and not a third party seller
The eligible items cost at least $25 before shipping and tax

  • Successfully applied after adding a US address. As stated above; to see the credit you have to actually search through the assistant addon, then add an item to the cart.

Hope they don't take mine away the next day like they did with that mastercard thing… (tried talking to support, they weren't helpful)

  • Got it, thanks. Worked fine with my Australia address

    • How did you manage to do it with Australian address?. It won't accept my Austrlian address?

  • Worked for me. THanks OP and instructions to make the magic happen.

  • cheers worked

They didn't even give me the $5 for installing the Amazon app from last time.

I might uninstall the app just to teach them a lesson.

    • Alright tried it anyway. Installed it on Edge, but I don't see the offer. I clicked on the plugin, but all I see are deal of the day. Where is the offer?

That was with a dummy Amazon account.

Tried it on my real account with a different browser (not Edge) and when I followed the link I got:

Sorry, you are ineligible to participate in the promotion.
This offer is only valid for customers who have not recently used Amazon Assistant. If you think you are getting this message by mistake, please sign-in with a different account.

This was before I even installed the plugin. Obviously I haven't used Amazon Assistant before. It wasn't even installed on this browser. And I've never logged into Edge with my main account.

Update: Went back to Edge and used the link in this post. Successfully activated the offer, said it was applied to my account. But when I try to buy something sold by and ships from Amazon.com at $40, and go to checkout, the credits are not applying.. No discount? And my cart was empty at the time I installed the plugin.

  • Great that this stacks with the $10 deal. But what are people buying on Amazon??? The shipping kills it for me, especially for books…

  • +1

    I'm getting the following:
"This promotion is not available in your current locale. Please check your setting by going here: country settings."
I have set my default 1-click setting to my AU address. My kindle is linked to amazon.com.au.

    Is this a problem?

    • +2

      As the description says,

If you get This promotion is not available in your current locale. Change your kindle locale to USA and add a USA address to amazon.

Go here, Settings > Country Settings, then change the country to United States.

    • I had a $5 App Referral and it was shown as $5.00 promotional balance.
After switching my country to US it is now showing $10.00 promotional balance. I believe this is the sum of $5 app referral and $5 Amazon Assistant (not the $10 mastercard promo which I'm still waiting for Amazon to send me)?

  • Did anyone else not get a confirmation email?

  • Thx for sharing. I can use this $5 off in my shopping cart! http://i.imgur.com/PZOt4Yc.png

  • Manage Your Content & Devices. http://www.amazon.com.au/mycd -> Settings -> Country Settings
then change the country to United States.

  • Redeemed, thank you OP.

  • +1

Used this $5 off and the other $5 off (for installing mobile app) to get a Timex Expedition for pretty cheap.

    • +1

Did they stack? I just tried that on the Invicta deal and couldn't get this to stack with a previous referral credit I had.

      • +1

Stacked for me. Ordered on mobile through app.

  • It tells me I have $5 credit waiting to be used, but when I buy something and check out, it only shows my $10 courtesy credit. The seller is Amazon. My country is set to Australia - does that matter if it supposedly redeemed correctly? Should I give a fake address in the US when changing the country?

UPDATE: okay, so I now live at McDonalds on Broadway in New York. It still does not show my $5 discount. Thoughts?

    • Try to remove/re-add product to the cart. And make sure you are using the browser with installed Amazon Assistant addon.
      It worked for me.

  • Thanks! Got Logitech G602 gaming mouse for US $33 delivered (after $5+$10 discount):
    https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00E4MQODC/

  • This is too hard for me. Can someone guide step by step how to do this please. Thanks

  • Can't see install option even after opening it on google chrome. I am using my samsung phone.

    • Use chrome on desktop.

  • i fixed the locale problem by transferring the kindle account to amazon.com without having to use a US address.

if you go to Manage Your Content and Devices > Settings. under country settings click on "Click here to learn more about other Amazon sites".

then click on "Learn about transferring your Amazon digital account to Amazon.com"

then click transfer kindle account to amazon.com.

then you can get the $5 referral without using a fake address. you can also change it back to amazon.com.au by going through those steps again.

  • hmm cant seem to get mine to work. the dropdown is just blank

    • firefox wouldn't work for me so i used chrome
