All up I paid about $899 out of pocket to upgrade from my (3 year old) 2013 MacBook Pro to this one.
New MacBook Pro: $4249
2013 MacBook Pro : Sold on gumtree for $2500
JB Discount: $425
TRS Refund: $425So $4249 - $3350 = $899
If you want to do iOS dev and get paid well to do it then this is a sick deal.
Try selling any other three year old laptop for this ROI.
Why TRS if you're an app dev? You could claim the GST as a business anyway?
I can't see the value in these new macs they aren't even Kaby Lake.
@JoelWilliam: TBH that is what I'm going to do. I was almost about to double dip (claiming both TRS and BAC GST), even printed out the claim online but did the right thing in the end. Will claim GST from business as well as expense it so will reduce tax as well.
Yes these are expensive but I had a choice of either keeping the old one whose value would drop once the touchbar was out or upgrading to this.
I'm really loving it though. I run a lot of VMs and the fan has yet to turn on (or maybe it does and I can't hear it at all). It's also less heavy which helps my back.
PS: I had to spend about $200 on dongles though lol
13inch MBP w/ Touch Bar isn't listed on the JB website, so I can't price match at Officeworks. I'm in no rush though.
Was thinking about Mac mini and support local business, but after checking price on oversea apple store, the RRP is even cheaper than this 10%off price.
Mac mini hasn't been updated in 2 years, and is also soldered-on RAM.
Will have to wait till next release probably next year ? or never…

Did you buy from JB? I bought from Apple and returned it to get the JB discount. If your buying full price it is always better to get it direct from Apple (if one is nearby). You can return any item in two weeks, no questions asked. They have extended holiday returns if you buy it after Nov you can return till Jan 8.
It wasn't me, it was a friend. She got it from JB and then did the payment plan so I'm sure the latter aspect would have made it much harder.
Since I missed that 2015 models crazy sale from Good Guys…
