Bought this for the same price in the previous GG eBay deal. It is a great machine and washes really well. I did a lot of research and I reckon it's a great machine at the price.

  • +3

Where does it says that this model is German manufactured rather than one of their Asian manufactured models? Normally this would be one of the first things that a retailer would highlight. Have I missed where it is written?

    • The cheapest German made Bosch is around $1,200 on sale.

This one is most probably out of India or Poland

    • at the back of the machine :)

  • +3

Bosch is part of Siemens AG (German company listed on DAX) but the machines themselves are most likely made in Poland or the Czech Republic.

They stopped making washing machines in Germany a while back due to high labour cost and lower margins.

    • I know the Germans have shift some of their manufacturing across the border to places like Poland. I know a couple of them definitely manufacture in Poland and then send the item to Germany where it is tested and shipped out (these are not washing machines I'm referring to). I bought a (supposedly) German-made 8Kg Siemens washing machine almost 5 years ago and the weight of the thing is massive :)

    • +1

I got the machine and mine is "Made in Germany"

    • A while back?

I have the exact washer which I bought few months ago and it is made in Germany.
There are cheaper models made in Asia, but few models like this and expensive ones are still mostly made in Germany.

    • The voting system doesn't work. This clearly factually wrong comment from ahara has more positive than negatives :-(

      To set things right:
Bosch (Robert Bosch GmbH) is an independent German company. They make lots of things from automotive parts (used in ABS, airbags, etc) via industrial products to household appliances.

Bosch washing machines are made by BSH Hausgeräte GmbH, which used to be a joint venture between Bosch and Siemens. A couple of years ago Bosch bought out Siemens and is now the only owner.

High end products are still made in Germany by BSH, that is true of all their brands, Bosch, Siemens and a few others.

      • Haha. That is true. His false statement got more positives than negatives.

  • +4

The Choice November 2016 washing machine review lists the origin of this as Germany, 3 other Bosch machines are listed as Poland, India and China. Seems like this is German made. It reviews very well against other "recommended" machines but is not in the recommended list primarily from what I can see is a poor gentleness score of only 50%, however some recommended machines only score 59% and above so overall this would be an excellent buy I'd say.

  • +1

I have one, German made. Our water bill saving over the past year has paid for the machine my wife reckons.

    • +14

I doubt it. Most of your water bill is supply/sewerage charges.

A washing machine upgrade is unlikely to cause a noticeable difference in your water consumption charges.

      • Unless you move from a top loader to a front loader.

        • +3

Still water charges are pretty cheap and saving 5-10 dollars a quarter wont save enough unless you are running 4-5 cycles per day.

      • +1

Maybe they're using San Pellegrino water?

        • lol … I'd hate to see the mineral build up in that drum after a year!

  • +3

Bought this one on the last TGG sale and can confirm it says German made on the box. Seems to be a great washer, particularly for the price.

    • +1

Ditto. Mine is also made in Germany.

  • +1

Mine is made in Germany and it is FANTASTIC. The only issue if I don't turn down the revs, my clothes last a little bit less.

  • +2

    $52.47 delivery……

I can't even get it delivered from a local store for that price. I'd be buying this….

    • Delivery for me was $35.44 (Adelaide metro)

  • I have the previous model which was a 7.5kg model, made in China, and it's soooo quiet and washes really well and shirt program is really good

  • +2

Works as advertised and very happy with mine . The only thing I can fault it is that the inside of the rubber seals can be a easy place to grow mould and for dirt to get stuck (as the case with majority of other brands). The new Asko washing machines have the seals which are non rubber.

    • Asko machines are dearer as well and it is sure a small issue, but can be sorted.
Easy solution is to clean rubber after each wash with a soft cotton cloth.

    • +2

open the door and also the detergent slot after each wash to air dry them

  • Does good guys delivery include removal of old machine?

    • +1

Yes, the driver puts your old washer's add on Gumtree.

    • No, it doesn't.

  • +2

I see you gave constipated a plug

    • He could of waited for him to post it, but he was taking to long

  • excellent timing, was just about to buy this the other day for $1100. thanks

  • Does anyone know if the delivery guys will install the machine as well? When buying through retail store, you can get that organised, but through eBay I am unsure if that is included.

    • what's so hard about installing?

      • +2

Agreed. It's literally: screw plastic pipes from washer into the laundry tap. That's it. Oh, unbox washing machine from cardboard packaging first.

        • +6

          plus :P :
remove the screws that hold the drum
put the exhaust drain pipe into your laundry trough
remove the plastic cover of the powerpoint
          plug the powerpoint in.
Run the machine first as per manual.
use the castors to make sure the machine is balanced

Make sure you read the manual

        • Thanks! Looks like at the very least I need pliers, wrench and level. Then I should be good to go. Will drop by Bunnings to get those (just moved out so I don't have a tool box yet with the basics).

        • +2

@Nighteyes: also get some plumbers/teflon tape to avoid leaks should cost about $2, you wrap it around the tap threads before screwing on the hose. will prevent leaks.

        • +1

[@Nighteyes(/comment/4230300/redir): usually a feet adjustment tool is included in the pack. It was with my Bosch. It's basically a skinny spanner to get to the feet adjustment nuts. You can level it by eye….and check the balance by pushing on opposite corners. Ensure the rubber washers (usually with gauze filter). are in the hoses and just nip up by hand…..

          No tools necessary.

Don't need a plumber or to pay anyone, as long as you can get it into place. Any installed fee is done by the shop assistant /store man delivering the item, so nothibg technical. As long as you can get it in place in the laundry, cause it's heavy….. You'll be fine.
Ensure to read the manual, comments above about removing the transit bolts are very important.

        • @Nighteyes: You can level it by putting a ball on the top. Table tennis ball is my favorite it's easier than using a level. Otherwise a roll of tape, a tube, or anything round can do the trick as well. Even a $2 coin can do it.

        • +1

          @berserkk:
Whoa there matey, never use Thread Tape on a fitting that is sealed via the rubber washer inside the captive threaded hose fitting and the spout of the tap. This actually reduces the ability of the sealing washer to function correctly, hence the fitting requires more tightening torque and can break the fitting/s.

Let the washer do its job, and if you have leaks, the hose/fittings are probably the issue, not the threads.

Right tools for the right job, I hope this helps.

      • I have never purchased a washing machine before, I assumed I needed special tools to actually connect the pipe. Additionally a number of negative reviews on washers on day one seem to be that they leak all over the place (this coming from people after a self install). So based off this, I thought it was more complex.

        • +1

These are people who expect eBay delivery truck should fit the washer as well when store charge much more for the same.
Nothing replaces common sense and can happen with any washer you buy. It is quite simple and you would be fine with a level and wrench or plier (which most households have). If you dont have them yet, then you might need some help in setting it up.

    • +1

      No, they won't.

  • I am getting the code has expired when I try to apply it. Is anyone else experiencing this?

    • 2 hours later the code worked.

  • +1

This is an awesome washing machine, very quiet and gentle on clothes. Aquasecure is good insurance too. Miele? meh!

  • +3

I have this washing machine and it IS made(or assembled) in Germany.
apparently the first three letters indicate where machine is assembled…

"Thanks for your question regarding your Bosch WAW28460AU Washing Machine.

The appliances are both very similar when it comes to the program, energy consumption and the usage side of things. The main differences would be the internal parts, the screen/button layout on the front of the appliance and the country that the appliances are assembled in.

The WAW model is assembled in Germany, the WAP model is assembled in China.

If you have any further queries, please do not hesitate to contact our After Sales Support team on 1300 369 744 during business hours.

    Regards, BoschHomeAu"

  • Can you pay for delivery? $35 to Sydney is it?

    • +1

I just did for mine. Was $35.44 in Adelaide Metro. I think i will try and contact them and see if they take away the old washing machine like they do when purchasing from the actual good guys store.

      • Good thought! Let us know how you go with that.

        • +1

I have just enquired - ordering through eBay does not include taking away old machine, as apparently they use a different delivery company when doing that (extra fees). I'm sure it wont be hard to find someone on gumtree that wants an old washing machine..

  • I believe this Bosch WAW28460AU has a seal design which is susceptible to catching clothes between the drum and the seal, leading to torn clothes. This is what happened in our new machine within 1 week of owning it, needless to say we took advantage of the money back guarantee and returned it.

This video is what we found at the end of our cycle. We were lucky to catch this. Another load had something torn but which had made its way back into the load by the end. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dtzMjb86Mio

    • WAW28460AU has a seal design which is susceptible to catching clothes between the drum and the seal, leading to torn clothes.

Can happen only during loading. Clothes should not touch the seal or you should not fill it too much. I have been using it for months and has never happened.

      • Sorry to report but we didn't jam a sock between the seal and the drum when we loaded the clothes. Your statement basically says if it hasn't happened to me, it can never happen.

        • Seal is pretty tight when you close the door and I am wondering what made it appear there. I will take care of our cloths. I have not seen much cases of the same either, so said that.

Not saying you did something wrong, but your video only shows the end, so cannot comment on how cloths were loaded so coming to conclusion will be too fast.

  • Hi everyone, it's not Bosch related, but do you have any review on this Fisher & Paykel WH7560P2 washing machine?

    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/NEW-Fisher-Paykel-WH7560P2-7-5kg-…

Do you think it's better to spend more on Bosch? Even both have + & - so far I have read. Thank you!

    • +1
      • 7.5 KG vs 8 KG.
      • Fisher are made in Asia, so quality might be on lower side of Bosch. Bosch are regarded above Fisher in appliances.
      • 4.5 on Fisher vs 5 star on Bosch water ratings

Else Both seems to be good washers.

    • There are some here: http://www.productreview.com.au/p/fisher-paykel-wh8560p1/m/w…

There are a some favourable reviews but some very troublesome ones on the WH7560P2 re machine getting stuck during cycles as well as leaks and flooding, pump problems etc.

I'm in the same boat have read so many washing machine reviews and I'm trying to find one from any brand that hasn't cons re fatal design flaws or manufacturing defects (for my usage anyway).

I really want a toploader but will settle for a front loader if it doesn't have too many issues for my use.

Due to so many positives I decided to look into this Bosche one but for me there are too many deal breakers compared to the Top Loaders I've always used:

      http://www.productreview.com.au/p/bosch-logixx-waw28460au.ht…

Long cycle time - from Bosche rep on product reviews re how long 8kg cold wash takes "Cottons 20 degree cycle takes around 2 and a half hours, in comparison to the Cottons 40 degree cycle which is 2 hours and 45 minutes"

(I'm used to 45-50min washes max on my current Top Loader)

      • Customer query: "I would prefer a washer that intakes hot water, as we have solar hot water, so I don't really want to pay to heat it up in the maching. do you have any models that intake hot and cold?"

Bosche Rep: "Our Washing machines are cold water connection only"

-Limited ways to use the machines full wash load capacity: "It turns out, out of all the many different programs available to use on this machine only one programme takes the maximum 8kg load. lt is the Cotton cycle and it goes for 2.5 hours. If I reduce the temp and the spin settings it still goes for 2 hours.
It is a real bummer as I have to then wash ALL of my laundry on the lengthy cotton cycle (who wants to wash smaller loads more frequently, ugh!) Even my king size blanket has to be in there for 2.5hrs (the quilt programme max load is 2.5kg)."

-Inability to pause and add items to wash once filled with water (Relevant to all front loaders)

      -Many Instances of leaks

      -Rough handling of clothes

I wish I could find a Top Loader with all of the mechanical and engineering finesse of these Front Loaders but without the deal breaking design flaws/limitations inherent to all front loaders

  • +1

Some comments report it only has one setting for 8kg wash

    • +1

I can confirm this. Be mindful, the default program is Cotton with "Speed Perfect" turned on, which is a 1 hour program for 5kg. You have to turn off speed perfect to get the 8kg program (the only one for the machine) and which takes about 2:25 on cold wash.

      • So that means you have to turn that speed perfect off and also there's no other setting that lets you have full 8kg wash.

It's a bit of a bummer. When it's advertised as 8kg and only one mode you can full load the washer!?

        • What it means is extra button pushes (at least one extra button) every time you want a full load. In addition there is no favourite function, so you can't enter in a full load as your preferred setting.

Although in our machine we had problems with the seal (as mentioned above) getting anywhere near rated capacity.

        • @constipated: You can still do 8kg with speed perfect, it just doesn't wash very well.

        • @fredblogs:

I'd be a bit worried about it using less water (thinking only 5kg was there) and not adequately wetting and washing the clothes. Kind of defeats the purpose if your clothes don't come out clean.

        • @constipated: Agree, but you don't always know if you're over 5kg, it doesn't tell you.

  • -1

How does the delivery work? Does it include the removal of our old machine?

  • +1

Thanks for all the comments. Just bought one I hope they will call mobile to arrange delivery.

Great to know its made in Germany

    • I had a call a couple hours after I ordered yesterday from the local good guys store asking me when I wanted it delivered.

  • Just wonder if HN will price match TGG ebay, this deal for example?

    • No - they won't.

  • I see there's a post back March for $790 really? So this isn't the cheapest

    • +1

      cheapest right now

  • +1

Picked up mine yesterday and can confirm 'Made in Germany' sticker attached.

  • Does the discount work with GG vouchers as well? That will get me another 6% off if it does

  • You cycle the HOT wash to combat the build up on the seal.

We only ever use it on the slowest spin as it dries the clothes out so much, that when you hang them on the line they go all stiff. I think it actually is harsher on clothes than a top loader as a result.

    But my wife loves it.

Even with a family of five.

  • Thankyou!

Washing machine has been on the blink and wife was happy with this after inspecting it 'professionally' in store with Gerry.

  • +1

Not sure why I bought this as my existing one is working without any issue for the last 8yrs.
    Anyway thanks OP

    • Haha..typical ozbargainer:)
