    • Apparently you can. Chick wouldn't do it for me though. Made this huge deal about security and nonsense (it's a non-activated useless SIM card, get over yourself), ended up just walking away as wasn't worth the hassle.

      • Did the same for me. Wanted photo ID but I don't have any (I'm only 13). Had to get my Mum to go into the store and provide her Photo ID to get the SIMs replaced…

    • Yes. I would recommend going to Optus because it's usually the quickest to move over to.

    Watch out, got 5 sims from phonebot a few months ago. The first 1 worked great. Then after a month tried to use the other 4 and they were already registered somehow.

  • Wondering if you're meant to receive a order confirmation email from PhoneBot re a purchase? Ordered a few sims on Tues and received the paypal confirmation email but nothing from phonebot…

    • SIMs arrived today, it has an Express Post tracking sticker on it. Since it only took a day to reach me being Express Post, I'd say if it doesn't turn up in a couple of days email them and they will furnish the tracking number as a guess.

      Just as a side note, I ordered 3 micro SIMs, when they cut them down from the mini SIM they didn't include the part they trimmed off, ie. no serial number. ;)

        I received sim cards too. There's serial numbers on the big card.
        But I can not activate them. It shows already activated.

        • No, I have the serial numbers but I like to verify what the card says against a number on the SIM itself when it's been cut from the card.

          Easy to do using an app in Android if it's missing from the SIM.

    Since several users have reported sims already activated which means the store rep is using OzB as a platform to scam people.

    I suggest this deal/thread remains open but to immediately suspend the store and their reps from posting any future deals until we get a clearer understanding of why this is happening to everyone.

    we cant charge you for something thats defective or doesnt work, its as simple as that. so if you bought a sim that doesnt work, plz email us or inbox me or get in touch via site, well either send replacements or refund. i have been part of the ozb community and were not in the business of scamming for measly $3 or no matter what the amount is

    Very dodgy…received my sim cards and they look very used…seals have been broken and instead they are sticky taped onto the bigger card. Both sim card numbers I ordered have already been activated. Looks very much like I've received used goods. WTF? Will wait to hear from store rep.

    • As OP outlined in an earlier comment, it seems that they are expired rather than activated so wouldn't say dodgy-just an honest mistake. These sims come from the $10 starter packs in order to allow you to redeem the 5GB data.

      The replacement sims people are receiving are having no problems.

      • If this is the case I would expect them to notify of the problem and just send the replacements automatically. VERY unprofessional to send a sim card STICKY TAPED onto the holding card. OBVIOUSLY used so please tell me how is this an "honest mistake"?

        • He did acknowledge the problem 4 days ago here and gave people the option of a replacement or refund following contact. I received my two today and both were taped to the card and cut to size as I requested, and both have absolutely no troubles activating.

    • The guy was online when I messaged him 2 days ago. Last online showing 10 hours ago currently. He's had plenty of time to respond to both OzB messages and my paypal dispute but none.

      • Yer, I'm not super impressed with how phonebot is (not) rectifying its mistake. You'd think that phonebot would attempt to resolve the issue quickly to minimise the damage to their brand.

  • I received two SIM cards (standard size), and both SIM cards could not be activated. I contacted Telstra, and I was advised one was expired and another was already activated by somebody. And then I sent a PM to the store rep but no response. My order no is 9753, and I expect a refund from the shop.
