Same as the previous deal but got an email today that confirmed that Office 2016 is now available on Mac + PC for $15 each. Handy for those that have some Mac users in the house like myself. Previously there was some debate over which version of Mac Office was available.

Like previously, you go to the deal URL and provide your work email to check whether you are eligible. Even if you do not know your "Program Code," you can still proceed. Can confirm I was eligible from previous deal and checkout was a breeze.

EDIT: Just updated title as I realised Visio Pro and Project Pro are also available in the same link.

How do I get a fake work email that is eligible?

    • +25

Why just get a new job?

      • Lol

      • Be nice… this guy might be might be the Congo's President Elect… ;-)

  • Anyone tested whether it gives you 2x Mac licences, like you get 2x PC licences?

    • The product checkout did say 2 licences, but I've got my PC one on at least 3 different machines now

    • +1

FAQ suggests both are for one license, and that it's $15 each you aren't getting both for the price of one. http://www.microsofthup.com/hupau/faq.aspx?culture=en-AU#faq…

On how many computers can I install my Office product?

Employees can download and install their Office product on one device

      Hopefully it actually is more.

      • Yes, but for $15 you get 2 licences with 2 unique codes for PC
I was wondering whether they have done the same for Mac

        • +3

How did you get 2 codes? I only got one.

        • Sure, just pointing out that the FAQ says it's currently one for PC or Mac. Might be that they've stopped giving away two installs for the PC users also, or the FAQ is wrong.

        • +1

          Only one code here.

        • never got 2 codes with mine when I got it when 2016 first came available on HUP. It also says one PC.
I know older versions I installed on a couple of PCs at home and it was fine with the same serial, havent tried with 2016.
It used to also say you cant buy both products , can have either mac or windows. looks like you can have both now.

        • +1

          @PVA:

never got 2 codes with mine when I got it when 2016 first came available on HUP. It also says one PC.

Yeah I only got 1 code as well.
You could definitely activate on two PCs for 2013, but any further it wouldn't let you activate.
2016 FAQ says only once pc..

        • @cwongtech:
To clarify: Office 2016 (with the 25 code we get) can be only installed on one PC?

        • @Donatello:
Yeah the 25 character code is supposed to work on one comp only. But I think it does work on the second comp, only one way to find out I guess

        • @cwongtech: thanks for saving me $15. got a "new" laptop recently, now i can install 2013 which i purchased a few year back on it rather than buy a copy of 2016.

  • +6

I could not proceed saying I need a code form my administrator…

  • +9

This didn't work for me without the program code.

  • You might want to clarify that it's $15 each.

  • +2

How did you proceed from not having a code? My email was accepted but could not continue without a code.

  • Please verify that you have entered your work email address correctly. We are unable to confirm your eligibility without a program code.

If you still have problems, please contact your benefit administrator to learn if you are eligible and to retrieve your program code.

  • +13

Your company needs to have a Volume License Agreement with Microsoft and allow the Home Use Program.

  • Only Project and Visio available for me. Booooooooo

    • +18

Sounds like you got lucky considering Project and Visio can be $700+ per license.

      • People that find those useful are more likely to get more value out of Office though.

      • +1

Nah, lucky is having those plus Office.

Looks like I can grab those or Office if I want.

  • +3

It's each for $15 not together. Please read the email carefully.

      Not really a deal.

Sure it is - the same way that a Subway deal, only valid in South Australia, is still a deal.

      • Well if it is for everyone in SA it is a deal for sure.

this deal is based on where you work and if your work has subscribed to this program.

        • +2

Sure, and for those people it's a deal. So what?

        • +1

@chrism238: for those people it was information, because it was always available to them!

        • +1

@skinny: No; my work is eligible, but I read about it here first. Get some friends. Bye.

        • @chrism238: Its always a worry when you read your employment benefits in public forum and you don't have any friends at work to tell you!

        • @skinny: It's hardly an employment benefit for those of us provided with this free, anyway; I'll stick with my 17% Super, thanks.

    • +1

It's very much a deal, champ.

    • +1

You don't always need a code, it depends on your Company's config.

      Edit: haha, just neg's everyone.

    • @thisispete

Firstly, you need a Program Code from your workplace and a corresponding email address to purchase this.

It depends - some organisation, you can buy via an email link sent to you

Secondly, even if you managed to obtain the above and you don't work at this Organisation you're against the EULA for the software.

This is correct and you can read the HUP licensing conditions when you buy the software

PS: I am not sure why so many negs for your comments

  • +1

    Already purchased 1x Windows & 1x Mac
    Great deal

  • +1

I got mine this morning. Cheers CBA lol

  • Mine worked, thanks.

  • +2

I have the office 2016 for windows and I found it very buggy. Eg. In Excel sometimes you can't select the cells unless you resize the window.

  • +1

So - anyone wanna share a code or what?

    • I hear you, but it is not a simple code sharing. Someone need to buy and give their copy to you.

  • +4

"Even if you do not know your "Program Code," you can still proceed." - Incorrect, perhaps it works for some organisations email domain but I would think not many.

  • +1

My work email needs the program code sadly.

  • +3

Even if you do not know your "Program Code," you can still proceed.

    How ??

    • -1

Because if the domain is registered with the volume licensing it already knows it.

      • I think the question is: "ok so I'm being asked for a code. What can I click to still proceed?"

        • Go to you company HR website and see if it is published. otherwise, call your PC administrator and ask for it.

  • +5

Can get free with any university email id. E.g. University of tasmania free course.

    • +3

      Isn't that a TAFE?

      • +4

Doesnt matter as long as u have .edu email id.

Just go to Offie 365 Education site https://portal.office.com/start?sku=e82ae690-a2d5-4d76-8d30-…

enter your university email id. 99% universities has office 365. This will take you to office page and you can download office 2016 for free.

        • Isn't this valid for a year only

        • +3

          @MrPT:

Ideally yes but universities never de-active your account. So enjoy.

I left university 5 years ago. still using login details.

Also, if you search other threads you will find similar people.

        • @Abcxyztpg: They may never deactivate your account, but some deactivate your eligibility for Office. I left UQ about 5 years ago, still have a .edu email address, but I get this when going through your link:

          Sorry…
We can't finish signing you up.
Your IT department has turned off signup for Office 365 Education. Contact them to complete signup.

        • @NigelTufnel:

          Bad luck mate.

        • @Abcxyztpg:

          I also can't login anymore.

        • @Circly: sorry buddy but I can't help.

In this ozbargain spirit I will wait till next year for free university courses.

    • +1

Or signup for an alumni email which lasts a lifetime.

      • Very good idea.

  • Is this one time cost $15 or each month???

also, it is asking me for Enter your organization's program code: …i dont have one neither my org.

    • one off $15

  • -1

Not this again.. In theory, the last deal did not "end"… So technically this is a duplicate

  • +12

OK I don't know why people post these "deals". You cannot do anything without the program code which will be supplied to you by your employment/education venue. Basically if you are entitled to it generally you will have been told about it.

Also heres a tip If your company uses Office 365 license e3 or greater (Basically the office package) that gives you some free installs while you work for your company. Just login to the outlook portal outlook.office365.com and type install into the search box to get them.

    • +4

Not necessarily, I'm State Government and could purchase mine purely by entering my email address. I'd say it depends on what Agreement your company has with Microsoft.

      • Same here, I provided my work email which ends in .gov.au, then I got a reply saying I could access all 4 products for $15 each. I then went through paying with MasterCard and another email arrives at your nominated email (I used my hotmail.com.au email) and got my product activation code. Worked fine, and have already installed it and activated my product, have been using it for a couple of hours already, and very happy. It also automatically moved all my contents from my older Office Pro 2013 install to this office without issue.

      • I suppose it depends on the department. Usually they would tell you but the gov.au is signed up and I imagine they have a gigantic account with MS.

    • Office 365 E3 subscriptions aren't licensed to you, they're licensed to your employer. You are breaching the license installing it at home.

The e3 license allows each user to install Office on 5 PCs or Macs, 5 tablets (Windows, iPad, and Android), and 5 phones.

You aren't breaching anything, perhaps before calling someone out you should make sure you know what you are talking about. The absolute worst that would happen is if you used up all 5 licenses you would have to deregister a home install.

  • +2

Hate to be a wet blanket, but I don't consider HUP a bargain. Its a special licence and is only available via organisations with this agreement with Microsoft.

Yes MS Office, Visio for $15 is incredible, but its not for everyone.

    • I kinda a gree even though I am one of the ones that can get it.
There are a lot of people that can get this deal. Most govt works, Telstra, and other big companies.

  • I get the following message after putting in my work email address and then clicking the link in the email I received:

We are unable to find your user account for activation. We are unable to activate your account at this time.

    • Tried clicking the email link a third time and it worked.

    • I am still getting this message. Tried clicking several times but no luck

  • Does this come with a Onedrive subscription like Office 365?

  • +1

Warning: The Outlook 2016 doesnt seem to work with all businesses exchange server.

I bought this and found out the hard way, then found out you can't keep the rest of Office 2016 and have just Outlook 2013. You have to go all or nothing.

So now have a copy of both and Office 2013 installed, really frustrating.

    • I am on Outlook 2016 and have no issue working with Exchange 2010, 2013 and 2016.

I'm unsure about Exchange 2007 or earlier.

    • Outlook 2016 Exchange wont let you manually enter your servername anymore, therefore must be used with the autodiscover.xml
(basically, smaller companies may need some help setting it up, but your IT should know how to do it)

Also, it requires minimum Exchange 2010 SP2

  • I have a Tafe email id but asking for "Enter your organization's program code" What should i enter?

    • Er it has to be for work..i think

    • -7

      I believe it's 1mfr0mt@f3g1mmeac0de

Or, you know………. you could ask your Tafe IT department

  • +6

This isn't actually a deal, it is the standard price for Microsoft Home Use Program.

However, the company that you work for needs to be under an applicable Microsoft Office End User Agreement through their Microsoft Enterprise Agreement. Should you leave the company that you work for under this agreement, you should also end your Home Use Program. You will need to speak to your Enterprise Agreement Licensing team within your organization to be granted the Program Code and therefore access to the program.

This is the older deal for those under the standard Office Professional EA, rather than the newer Office 365 or Enterprise Licensing for Office 365 Suite, which grants each user licensed for Office 365 ProPlus (Usually E3, E4 or E5 etc.) to install and activate their Office ProPlus deployment on 5 devices as part of the agreement. Usually that is allocated as your work device, allowing you to activate on home device, mobile etc. where the license and activation ends when your license is revoked at the end of the license agreement or your employment.

Not sure if I should be checking the associated with Microsoft at the bottom, I am a Microsoft Certified Consultant for Office 365…Admins please let me know if this is required?

  • Nice one OP. Picked up one of the DELL laptops from Monday's deal (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/277122) for the missus and was wondering what I'd have to fork out for Office. Seems not that much! :)

  • This isn't a new deal whatsoever. I've been using the Mac office HUP for over a year

    • +1

yeah but previously you could only get mac OR PC version.

now you can get both @ $15 ea under the HUP

      • No. You're incorrect. I previously have used this since 2012. There has always been the availability to get one of each.

    • +4

      Google Docs is abandonware

      • Can you elaborate? I just started using Google Docs, is it ending or something?

  • Worked brilliantly for me, thanks OP. No code required.

    • what email address though?

  • This isn't a deal. I remember being told about it when I started a job almost a decade ago. It's nothing new.

    • +4
      • It was shared (possibly first) over 4 years ago. I think that's enough notice. I've used it 3 times since then…
Unfortunately now my work is no longer part of the program though.

        • +1

Yeah I know, I bought a copy from one of the previous deals.

It was just a light hearted comment/observation that seanneko didn't share it with us despite knowing all those years ago, hence the ;)

  • I tried but it requires a code. Won't go any further without it

  • I was wondering why google.com email address does not work. I mean what if I work for Google wouldn't my work email address ends with google.com?

    • +3

you would use google docs ;)

    • You'd be using google docs then… ;)
