    • +2

My wife has been watching it on Netflix and has watched 6 seasons in about 4 weeks or so - she's not getting much sleep!!

      • +3

Next minute she'll be self-diagnosing lol

        • +9

          its always lupus.

Try ER - 15 seasons and 331 episodes.
Took me a year to finish off.

    • +1

or 5 days, 10 hours and 20 minutes

  • +2

    Great show. Loved it.

  • -3

39 discs? That's ridiculously cumbersome. All seasons HD h264 download fit on two 2-layer blu-ray. A season per disc even at a very generous bitrate.
Its not even a particularly visual show.
Why must a paid-for option be so inferior? I bet they even have UOPs.

    I loved the early seasons.

    • +5

You're forgetting there's uncompressed sound and a much higher quality video bitrate on these commercially pressed blu-ray discs than what you're talking about. Downloads have a lower quality video bitrate and compressed sound. What you're talking about would be the inferior.

      • +2

Oh yeah the uncompressed Dolby TrueHD is sorely needed on a show set in hospital. It will definitely will showcase your 7.1 system.

      • High quality audio is 384kbps Dolby 5.1. For 8 seasons of 24 x 44 minutes , that's 24GB. Just half a disc.

I suggested one season per disc for high quailty - that is 50GB, minus 3GB audio, leaves 6Mbps for video. Plenty with h264.
No amount of bitrate makes up for the script in later seasons. Is the lumbar puncture too grainy?

        • I look forward to the day you can buy whole shows on an external HD.

        • Thanks for the math, except: each EPISODE has FOUR 5.1 DTS (1536kbps) tracks for English, French, German & Japanese languages plus and an additional 2 languages in 2.0.
          What's the math now?

        • +3

          @KLoNe:
The word is "maths". I think you've been watching way too much American television.

And DTS is absurdly inefficient. You know they do that deliberately?

Physical media is so last century.

        • +1

          @manic:
Wanting the show in the best quality possible is not 'last century'. But hey if your standards are lower then that's fine too. :)

        • +1

          @fatpizza:
If our standards were high, we would not be watching a medical soap opera.

        • +2

@manic: Face it, you have no idea what your talking about when it comes to video quality because you appear to think streaming bitrates are the best.

        • Except the 1080p iTunes version is 5mbit and still weighs in at 40gb/season.

        • @hambuger: 40gb fits on one blue ray.
How is the quality? Streaming services tend to need a higher rate for some reason.

  • +1

    Awesome show +1

  • +2

        • yes.. you are right

  • +3

Nah it can't be lupus! It must be sarcoidosis

  • amazing i used to pay $20 for under one hour of dragonball z on dvd

    • A single BD volume of an anime cost more than 7 full seasons of a tv show. its crazzzy

      • This price makes piracy a poor option for many

    • Why is that amazing?

      • Amazing compared to how good this deal is
DVD box sets for one season of one show used to be around $250
This is great deal based on the download size of the blurays

  • +1

Whilst this deal is great, just a reminder that all 8 seasons are on Netflix too.

    • +1

The special features are not… and it's ridiculously lower quality too.

  • +1

Great show although lucky it ended when it did it was deffs starting to get dull

  • +1

    Are the discs re writable?

  • +1

    House… Road House

  • Been listening to a lot of massive attack - teardrop too lately haha I wonder if this is a sign haha lol

    • Weirdly enough, I'm pretty sure this release has that god-awful alternative title music instead of Massive Attack

  • Friends Series BluRay also on sale for those who like that show.

  • I had no idea this went on for so long. Glad I stopped watching after the first couple of seasons. Still, this is going to be a great present for someone I know. Thanks for the deal!

  • All time favorite show! Nearly finished the last season on Netflix. Taken me about the 6 months whilst binge watching other shows like prison break
