Wow.. $55 for the jug, $40 for the filters..

$25 for a jug and 4 filters for comparison

    • And the jug comes with a filter! The filters last over a month and a half of every day usage. And you get 3 in the box for $40! "Each box contains 3 Filter Cartridge refills"

Also that link you posted is not an alkalising water filter jug.

I was going to make a comment about the pH of water being around 7, and thought I'd do some research.

According to Hunter Water, the regulatory target is 6.5 - 8.5!

The water corp in Perth has some good data on pH levels.

I didn't realise some tap water in Australia could be as alkaline as that! Is there an acidising water jug??

    • Shipping for filter is $10, so $50 for filter

      • "Each box contains 3 Filter Cartridge refills"

You get 3 for $40 when you use the FREESHIP code (:

        • Ah-ha! free shipping code! you beauty!

Now is the code avail the year round?

3 for $40 sounds much better.

woo. or Bullshit if you prefer.

How does the water become alkaline? Presumably the alkaline ceramic mineral balls are leaching something back into the now filtered tap water? Which you then pour into your acidic stomach. Thus having zero impact on the body other than the level of acidity in your stomach for a little while.

Can someone tell me what 'far infrared ceramic balls' are, and what they do?
Can someone tell me how the water becomes 'rich in antioxidants'?

BTW - the laundry balls are woo as well - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Laundry_ball

      Bullshit is putting it mildly.

The HeppiBody Alkaline water jug works to maintain the body’s natural pH.

It's that stupid alkaline diet fad again where food magically changed the pH of your blood and that then makes you immune to disease because reasons.

Biggest loser of bs out. It's sad to think some people actually believe this trash…

    • Far infrared balls are ceramic spheres that receive and emit thermal energy from and into their environment depending on the thermal difference.

  • For those in Melbourne, the exact analysis of your tap water depends on location (and where the water is from), however Melbourne's water is among the lowest hardness, mineral and other content for all water supplies in the world:
    http://www.melbournewater.com.au/waterdata/drinkingwaterqual…
Chlorine added during the treatment process will dissipate by leaving it overnight (or boiling).

… buying a jug like this may not provide many benefits - if any at all.

    • On what basis do you conclude that this jug "may not provide many benefits"? Looking at the physical properties shown in the photo, it should be capable of holding water.

      • Because a jug that costs a couple of $ will hold water just as well without all the mumbo-jumbo-bull****

        • And as my review on their web site says, the infrared balls remove the unpleasant dihydrogen monoxide taste from the water. As for the fluidity of the liquid water …

        • +1

          @newdad:
Scientific evidence indicates that dihydrogen monoxide is colorless, odorless, tasteless.
If you find dihydrogen monoxide unpleasant, I suggest you dilute it with additional C2H6O, rather than purchasing an over hyped expensive filter jug.

Save even more by not buying it at all, or buying a standard water filtering jug.
I mean, the marketing fantasy explanation for this thing says the first part of the filter softens the water (pretty straightforward, means it removes some of the mineral content, normally calcium & magnesium) then runs it through crushed up rock which "Adds healthy minerals… such as calcium". ??? They've thrown in some "far infrared ceramic balls" which is lovely except what's powering this - surely not natural radioactive decay… let alone the fact you're keeping this chilled in the fridge.
They've also added "Alkaline ceramics" to raise the pH - lets just ignore 'Why???' for now and just boggle at them adding more mineral compounds back into the water. These also apparently "produce molecular hydrogen" which I'm assuming is the antioxidant they're talking about. Shame there's zero decent evidence for ingested antioxidant benefits.
I think overall this filter actually puts more into the water than it removes - maybe they should change the name?

  • Ozbargain contest - who can leave the best review that actually gets published? This jug filters out dangerous dihydrogen monoxide http://www.dhmo.org/facts.html
It's also cheaper than the more expensive alternatives!
