These things are pure BS. Ozone stinks and kills plants and animals, I want it nowhere near me. Ion generator effectiveness is debatable.

5 minutes of googling/wikipedia will tell you everything you need to know.

If you have hayfever you would be better off with a hepa filter style air 'purifier'. It will physically remove the particles from the air.

    Do not buy.

Dabbing snake oil under your nose also works.

COTD have an Asthma Foundation endorsed purifier for $50 that doesn't blow a carcinogen into the air.

Otherwise spend a bit more and get a HEPA filter purifier.

Thanks x2 above for the HEPA recommendation, otherwise i would have bought this because it's a 'bargain' as ApplianceOnline has it for $130.

Yeah when checking out purifiers all that matters is the spec of the HEPA filter and how many cubic feet per minute of air the purifier processes.

just focus on what numbers you need for those two factors.. ignore everything else about ions, and ozone, and rock salt, UV etc etc etc it is largely snakeoil

Look like a great deal for Google Home unit, +ve from me thanks.

  • Anyone have thoughts on the Xiaomi Air Purifier?

    • Certainly my pick out of all the air filters, I have been waiting for one to come up super cheap on sale.

      • A new 'Pro' version was just announced last night. Hopefully we'll get some nice launch specials from Banggood.

  • I was a bit worried reading the reviews, however it seems to work very well for me. The ionizer mode seems to help my dust mite allergy problem. The only down side is that I have to vacuum the room where I put the purifier every day.

I don't use the ozone generator because of the smell.

The user manual doesn't give me a lot of confidence believing that it would work. They use words like "may" and "potentially" to describe functions of the machine.

Until I have enough money to buy a good purifier with a good HEPA filter, I'm happy with this little machine.
