Why mobicity not part of ebay 20% off sales

    • It's Mobileciti, not to be confused with grey importer Mobilecity.

    Great Deal once more.

Real pity the Australian S7 does not do dual sim though.

  • +11

    Still no edge.

      Thanks for letting us know.

      $100 is chump change.

  • Thanks

  • +24

Any deal for the S7 edge?

    • Is there a Deal for the Note 7?

      • +1

Yes, the deal is to get it fully refunded or to exchange it for a S7 or S7 Edge with the cost difference refunded. :P

  • +2

Can anyone tell me a sure fire way to tell whether this is definitely Australian stock? Was on Samsung chat earlier today for a screen issue for a Note 5 bought from Mobileciti as Australian stock and the chat rep alluded to it being a grey import when I gave him the serial and model ID number.

    • +2

Look for the N363 Logo or the "tick in the triangle" logo at the back of the phone. That's what I got told from Samsung Rep when I asked them about the S7 Edge. and they said should be the same for all devices.

    • +2

      Hi Slave1

All note 5 stock was came directly from Samsung Au distibutor, which same as HN, JB, Samsung Store got they stocks.

For your concern could be online chat rep provide the incorrect information or wrong serial or IMEI # provide.

Au Stock can be identify in the below methods:
      1. A tick logo: check the packaging, there should be "A" tick logo showing the packaing and back of the phone.
      2. Bring your to nearest Samsung service center (not Samsung experiance store) for inspection/service
      3. Booking warrranty online: http://samsung.smartservice.mobi/pickup/

if you need more info please PM me or email [email protected].

      Thanks!

      • Yep the Samsung chat rep mentioned the two logos on the back and neither of them are on the Note 5 I bought from you … definitely gave them the right serial and IMEI number.

edit: Just checked the Note 5 box and nowhere does it show either of the logos. it was bought in this deal last year which specifically mentions that it's Aus stock.

        • We never had any grey import stock.

PM the IMEI, I will double check for you.

I have bought some phone from mobileciti and they always are australian stock. No problem with warranty

        • @mobileciti: Sent you a PM first thing this morning.

Something to keep in mind with Optus branded phones.

I have a Optus branded Note 5. The GPS never worked properly. I rang Optus and they told me to go to Samsung. I thought Samsung would have no idea, but I went to the one at Mt Gravatt (I think, they have a little stall there). When I told the lady about my GPS issues, she immediately asked "What carrier?". I said Optus. She said that the My Optus app blocks the GPS from working. I thought she was full of it, but I left my phone there and I think they flashed it to the international rom. Once I got it back, I removed the "My Optus" app and the GPS immediately started working.

Branded phones are awful. Plus the stupid Optus mascot jumps on the start up and shutdown screens too.

To clarify: the My Optus app, when it was installed, the GPS would work for about a half hour, and then lose all satellites. I'd have to reboot to get them to work again, for another half hour. Once the my optus app was gone it was totally fixed.

Double edit: I do not believe you can remove the "My Optus" app on Optus branded phones

      Thanks for sharing.

    • By not working properly, do you mean completely not working? Or what?

Because I have a non-branded Note 4 with the My Optus app installed and the GPS seems to work fine. Maybe it's degrading my GPS accuracy and I haven't noticed?

      I beg to disagree.

This is my experience. I got the S7 phone from the previous Mobileciti deal by TA; called Samsung Care and asked about flashing with original Samsung S7 firmware and they said it would void the warranty (which is utter BS btw as warranty is only voided when Knox is tripped). However I then went to a Samsung Retail store and told them I want the 'Open Australia' firmware (check Google regarding this) and they were able to flash the original Samsung S7 firmware. The key word you need to tell them is Open Australia (give an excuse that the GPS doesn't work properly as this is a known issue) and they should help you out :)

PS. Important point to note is that the Open Australia firmware should only be used on local S7 phones not the grey imports as that will definitely brick the phone. Local phones have the model number G930F and the grey ones would be G930FD or G930. Hope that helps.

      From whirlpool forums somewhere.
      1. Turn off network performance monitor in settings on the my optus app.
      2. Reboot.
      3. Profit.

      • Oh that sounds like it would work. But the point is you shouldn't have to.

I really like Android, but this is one area where iPhones knocked it out of the park and continue to do so (no forced phone vendor bloat installed on the phone). Optus Telstra etc have no right whatsoever to force their software on to people's phones and make it impossible to uninstall.

    • +23

No, but on every Samsung thread, someone rocks up and makes this exact same joke.

        • What was wrong with them?

Don't get me wrong, Samsung are the worst. Touchwiz is a continual, pointless, Trainwreck. I'm just interested in your personal issues with those tablets.

        • -1

          @misterpotatomato:

Tablets were and are fine. (There was the issue that I couldn't get a quote for replacing a charge port my infant daughter destroyed. I wasn't asking for warranty work. I was asking what a specific part would cost. They wanted $50 or $80 - can't remember which - to assess it when the table twas worth $300. So I ended up voiding the rest of the warranty and fixing it myself. Annoying but not enough to boycott them over)

Phones have a few quirks (yes touchwiz not allowing the home row of buttons to be modified annoyed the hell out of me and for a while i used Nova launcher) and my wife's died (but I'm nearly certain that's because she puts it in her back pocket). These were Galaxy S4s…and my wife is using a Core Prime which is nothing to write home about but okay for a cheap phone.

But you start selling dodgy phones that burn things down and I'm going to take issue with it. I don't have to wait till one of my family is hurt or killed to get angry at the way they messed up the Note 7, messed up the fix, dodged paying people for fire damage and threw a hissy fit over a video game mod that took the piss out of them for it.

        • -7

Keep modding me down fanboys. If you mod down hard enough Samsung will be great again <rolls eyes>

        • +2

@syousef: oh right so the actual devices are okay, you're upset about the note 7 battery issue. I get that.

It's pretty bad. And it'll be interesting when Samsung figures out what causes the issue.

        • -6

          @misterpotatomato:

Yep and all I'm doing is dodging their products and poking a little fun at them. Which as I said is well deserved. I don't think I will trust them to build safe phones again though.

        • +2

Well in all fairness iphones (not only) have had many issues with phones exploding and other such scary crap, but i suppose they managed it better. Brand loyalty or avoidance, for the most part, is for suckers. My S6 edge, gf's older note, my samsung tab, all been sensational. Samsung tv and fridge, not so much. Brands dont mean squat it's all about individual product lines.

        • -5

          @Xizor:

If you want to ignore the experiences of others that's your perogative. You'd be singing a different tune if you'd had your property damaged. I have an LG G4 that I've had to have replaced twice and caused me real headaches. I will avoid that brand because multiple models have had bootloop and other issues and because I have personally had enough. But at least it hasn't started a fire. You want to talk about suckers? It's funny that most manufacturers haven't had their phones go up in flames - even the cheap ones. Samsung has had the Note 7 and their washing machines cause fires. They clearly don't give a crap about product safety, and push the boundaries in the wrong places. You want to talk about suckers? Suckers are people who try to hold onto a phone that's been recalled even though the model caused multiple fires and is no longer allowed on aircraft. No phone is worth a fire.

        • @syousef: Mate we could be here all day listing most brands on the planet if we wanted to harp on about the failings of corporations pushing boundaries too far (or not far enough). It is an unfortunate reality with companies at the cutting edge of their segments regardless of the product. It's wrong, it's messed up, it's an intense and cruel consumer driven world we live in and every now and then an error is made. As someone who works in the mobile phone industry for the past decade plus i know of several other manufacturers in recent times that have had similar issues albeit likely different causes and scale. It's frightening, for Samsung i think most especially just how poorly they handled it all. As for as other appliances go, well, that list is probably endless… car manufacturers alone!!!

        • -2

          @Xizor:

If you let a company get away with this kind of crap without any repercussion, don't be surprised if it gets worse and worse until their products fail to sell and their company folds. You aren't doing anyone any favours shrugging and saying "it happens".

    • Yeah Samsung have exploding washing machines and phones, it's a "feature" ;)

  • waiting for a good deal for iphone SE

Black Friday S7 Edge from someone pleaseeeeeee :)

  • Will officeworks price match/beat this offer?

    • +1

Bought the Samsung S7 from Officeworks this morning, after seeing this deal. They would only price match the price displayed on the MobileCiti website (i.e $819), so that brought the price down to $778. Picked up the phone at OW and justified the extra $23 against time and effort that would have been involved to flash the firmware and get rid of the Optus bloatware.

      • Just tried to price match at officeworks. Was told they won't do it as the warranty will need to be handled thru mobile Citi instead of Samsung ….

        • +1

I was told some similar nonsense.

        • @somebody123: Maybe I just got lucky, I did it at the OW on Bourke St in Melbourne. And what MobileCiti sells is Australian stock, so I don't get why OW would use that excuse to get out of price matching it.

        • @rufroc:
Officeworks Loganholme just Price Matched but they didn't last night so head in now if you want one

  • Found S7 Edge not sure whether its grey or aussie though

    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/201546641640?rmvSB=true

Can anyone confirm if this is a grey import or Australian Stock?

    • grey for sure. it's shopping square
