iPhone SE 16GB $495.99 Delivered @ Certified Tech eBay

430
CHEER20

Was looking for an iPhone SE for a friend and stumbled upon this. I reckon this is pretty much the cheapest price it has gotten for local stock with local warranty. If you use cash rewards, it comes down to $482 (they've bumped up the price, it's $488 now) and if you can claim GST under TRS, it comes down to just $427$432. I'd say that's a really good price for an iPhone SE.

These guys sell some refurbished items as well but I confirmed that this is brand new sealed in box and they supply a tax invoice as well. There's grey, silver and rose gold.

Happy Shopping!

Update: Just got the SE I bought today, fast shipping.

What can you do with 16GB?

    • +10

oh well, I know plenty of people who find 16GB enough, it might not be enough for you and me, but there are plenty who will find 16GB enough.

    • +1

Not a lot. If you knew a bit of electronics though, you can upgrade the memory yourself.
      http://www.cultofmac.com/395797/chinas-secret-shops-can-upgr…

I use a 16GB LG G2, and while it's a pain to have to sync stuff to the cloud or my PC everytime, you do adapt to it.

But it's 2016 and nobody should have to deal with limited storage on phones. I thought we'd nailed cheap storage on mobile devices by now, but apparently not..

      • +2

        Apparently you are risking $489.98.

      • I totally agree, frankly I can't suffice from 16GB either, but my friend was alright with it and I know people who are alright with it as well.

I just got an iPhone SE 64GB last weekend.

I've installed all the apps I think I will need (standard social media, some health apps, ebay etc.). I've also saved about 10 albums on Spotify Premium and taken about 30 photos. I've used 5.5GB so you could probably get away with 16GB. However I bought the phone for taking photos hence 64GB option.

      • Sync your photos with google photos and Flickr. Google photos does some slight compression but the app is really great to use. You can search contextually or by location/date. Really clever app. You can also browse them online from a computer. Unlimited storage. Flickr on the other hand backs up uncompressed, max 1 TB.

        • We use both Google photos and Flickr just incase some how one of them gets obducted by aliens we still have a back up.
Google does uncompressed but there's a limit.

      • I mean yeah, there was a time that we survived with 8GB right? I can also live with 16GB if I must, and there will be people who'll find 16GB plenty without constant backing up/cleaning too.

  • Wonder if they do 5c phone

    • +1

not sure, they respond fast through eBay, nothing to loose in asking right?

      • Yea looks like no deal. Picked one up on the last deal posted here on ozb (another ebay seller) No issues with phone. It was not aus stock (from us) and only 3 months warranty. The deal was so popular that the seller jacked up the price halfway.

So hoping for another cheap 5c again.

  • thanks mate, ordered one.

I can't tell if this is genuine Aus stock or not.
The CONDITION tab says - "Brand new Apple Australian stock."
However the WARRANTY tab says "This iPhone comes with 12 Months of Apple Warranty."

Aus stock comes with 24 months of warranty, so this is mixed info.

    • +1

I think given that it's assured Australian stock, Apple warranty should be there for 24 months regardless, I can tell you that they confirmed this is Australian stock and their receipt definitely includes GST and their ABN as well (I got one and got the tax invoice as well).

      • Thanks, where does it say "assured Australian stock" outside of the Condition tab?
GST & ABN mean nothing more than an Aus registered business, the stock could still be a grey import.

        • +2

I PM'd them and asked. Here's what they said.

          Hi there,

Thank you for your interest in our listing.

Phone is Brand new Apple Australian stock.

It is in stock and ready to ship.

Looking forward in doing business with you.

          With kind regards,

          Camille

        • @enzioFirenze:

          Grazie

        • @snuke: no probs mate :)

        • @awcyeung: reply to an unpublished comment.

        • @enzioFirenze: I could be wrong, as the ad actually says Australian stock under the 'Condition' tab. Perhaps a better question to ask the seller is the model numbers. As an example, AU stock iPhone SE 16GB Silver is MLLP2X/A. For a Space Grey, its MLLN2X/A.

      • Is it one year apple warranty and one year acl?

        • yup, that's how it is, refer to blablabla23's comment below

    • +2

i've had this issue with another ebay seller and it's technically correct: apple warranty covers you for the initial 12 months, then your statutory right takes over for a further 12 months (which is covered by apple but not under their warranty). So if your phone breaks down after the initial 12 months, you are not entitled for a replacement unless in australia.

still, best to get a direct confirmation that this is covered for 24 months.

why not use Amex to get a 64GB for under $600 (spend $300 and more for $100 back)?

    • that might work out for the best but if 16GB is fine, this is a good choice :)

      • +1

I had to give up the 16GB got with $500ish deal before and regreted just a day after, 16GB could not hold much

        • +1

I can relate to that and I'm not gonna buy a 16GB one either, but there are plenty of people who can get by with 16GB, that ain't you and me, but that doesn't mean there aren't anyone either :)

    • +1

Or why not use 2 Amex cards and get 16gb one from Harvey Norman for $479 ($679-$200 cashback). In fact if you may be able to negotiate it even lower.

    • Wheres this from please?

I have the AMEX deal from HN but I can only find the 64gb for $748 which would bring it down to $648.

      Much appreciate some guidance :)
