Prismacolor Premier Colored Pencils, Soft Core

I thought you preferred Hard Core ?

These are very highly regarded among professional artists. This set costs $144 at Eckersleys.

I personally prefer and use Faber-Castell, as the soft cores on the Prismacolor pencils means that their 'lead' can break inside the pencil if they're dropped. They're also waxy and can sometimes leave a residue on top of the finished artwork.

I'm picking up a set of these though because at this price it's a no-brainer!

That would be thanks to the talent of the individual, not the quality of the tools.

        • Yes, of course. My point was more that these are good enough that many highly skilled and talented professionals choose to use them.

The only room that picture should enter is that of a medical professional….

    • can break inside the pencil if they're dropped

Given that the pencils will be traveling from the US to here and the box being dropped multiple times along the way, this is a worry.
Inside the tin, the pencils aren't wrapped tight so they will shift around a bit

Even if you buy them locally, Australia post doesn't do a better job either.

        • A lot less people throwing it around if bought locally, and zero if I pick up in store.
Amazon puts very little bubble wrap in their parcels, too.
It was nice finding this out when I bought a portable HDD off them.

          @payton:

lol how do you think they get to the store?

        • @LoopyLou:
in pallets that are a bit more securely packed than a tin bouncing around inside a large empty box.

    Cheers OP, bought a set

  • oh…i bought this last week for $A9 extra. exchange rate must have dropped.

  • Christmas shopping has commenced.

  • wow the prices of these on local sites are really expensive. Even if a few pencils have breakages because of rough handling on shipping, its still worth it.

  • This is something i've always wanted but couldn't justify the price.. I think i'll treat myself.. but arggg 72 or 132. The 72 seems to already have a good range but I might regret not getting the larger one.

    • Went with 72, consensus seemed to be that the 132 is a great range but almost overwhelmingly so and that many colours are so similar it's not necessary. Hope I made the right choice :D thanks for posting this!

  • There are some local ebay listings that are compeative (way better than officeworks and art supply stores) if you're worried about international shipping. Like this http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Prismacolor-Premier-Soft-Core-Col…

For anyone in Brisbane, Riot CBD might still have their seemingly permanent 50% off. You can order this set in. I got mine for around $75.
