60% off Usenet Halloween Specials on Xsnews, EasyUsenet and Yabnews - 39.39€ ($55AUD) for Unlimited for One Year

80
HALLOWEENMONSTERWITCH

Found this on Reddit, seems like a pretty good deal for those that use Usenet. Not to sure how either of these Providers go, but was able to get Elite on XSNews for $56.45 AUD for the year, unlimited downloads.

XSNews seems to be its own backbone. Yabnews and Easyusenet use the XSNews Backbone.

  • Doh…none of them take Paypal. Guy on Reddit said that he got a prepaid visa and that didn't work either. Probs worth mentioning that free NZB indexers now adays are either poorly updated (usenet-crawler) or are now charging (OzNZB). Still, once you've downloaded stuff from Usenet, going back to torrents is a real drag…

I know what you mean, haven't used Torrents in quite a while. In regards to free indexers, I've heard good things from 6box.me.

      • Any good things you hear about free indexers are easily beaten by the big paid guys.

    • Dognzb is open for registration again! Only happens for a few hours a month. Not free, but cheap at $15 a year
      http://dognzb.cr/register

      • How does it compare to the free nzbs.org?

        • Seems pretty good so far, but haven't used it for long. The bitcoin thing stumped me the first time I tried to signup

  • been using torrents for years and thought all the good Usenets got busted

    • You have to grab your file quick, before they are removed. Not like the glorious days of UseNet.

      • depends on your usenet provider.. US based ones honour DCMA takedowns generally within 24 hours, Euro (specifically Dutch) providers don't.

also I'm with usenetserver (US based) and they have 7+ years retention online.. has literally only been a few things I haven't been able to source from them.

heck with Sonarr set up for latest episode retrieval you don't need to manually chase files anyways.

          Euro (specifically Dutch) providers don't.

Euro ones don't have to comply with DCMA, BUT they do have to comply with local laws, so removals still happen (just not as fast).

latest episode retrieval you don't need to manually chase files anyways.

Yes with Sonar/SickBeard, you're generally ok. But for movies and TV shows after a day or so, you're screwed.

        • @PainToad:

Im still a noob about usenet maybe ill take a look this weekend.

        • This is such false information wow.

Euro/Dutch providers comply with their own version of DCMA.

The most you could get is a longer time without it being taken down.

This has been tested to death on Reddit, the majority of DCMA's content is also taken down on the Euro/Dutch providers meaning its often a waste of time.

This is especially true now that there are a lot less take downs.

Not really, there was a time when that was the case but its very calm at the moment.

I'm on Supernews and the only time I have trouble are particular movies, often 4k. I assume from particular studios.

Otherwise nothing seems to be removed quickly anymore.

    • Naw it's just moved to private sites that are often invite only.

      • UseNet isn't private. Every post is publicly accessible. Indexers are private however.

        • The sky is blue and I just farted.

        • I think it depends how you look at it.

A large portion of Usenet these days is obfuscated to varying levels.

This means that you can't know what you are downloading until you download it.

The free indexers will get some of this stuff, the paid indexers will get a lot more.

This means that its nearly private in the fact that one site has your favourite video, but the other site doesn't, and no amount of searching will fix that.

There is one particular site that has a lot more private content then any other, and its paid.

I use usenet.farm, never had any issues with retention etc, can often get stuff that has been out for 2 months + no worries.

Indexer I use is nzbgeek which I have found to have everything I require and updated frequently.

    • +1

I use the same two sites - can vouch.

    • Does usenet.farm ever have any deals?

      • +1

Wait for Black Friday, most providers have a few deals then

      • +1

They recently had a summer sale where you get the % of degrees celsius off current Amsterdam weather.

    • +1

Unlimited Frugal + Usenet.Farm.block, winning combo in my experience.

The 'night only' 2-year product on easyusenet.nl is great value.

Due to timezone - 'Night only' means your account is suspended between ~ 12-7am AEST, so you can happily download 17 hours of the day

    2-years 30mbit for $40.53 ($20.27 per year) !

Save even more if you share with a friend:

    60mbit (account sharing allowed) - $51.41/2y = $25.71/y /2 = $12.85/y per person (twin share)
    120mbit - $62.95/2y = $31.48/y /2 = $15.74 pp twin share

  • If anyones curious, http://xsusenet.com/ has a free service. Its very limited, but it works
