TF2OFFER

For a limited time, new customers of Telstra who are family and friends of Telstra staff can connect to the $39 Telstra Staff Mobile Cap Plan that includes $400 of eligible national calls and data p/m

This plan has a minimum monthly fee of $10 per month and once you spend $39 on eligible calls, you will get $400 worth of calls to most Australian numbers and data (excl operator assisted, premium number and international calls, content and subscription charges). Of course, standard charges apply after $400 and for calls/usage not included in the cap. This cap lets friends and family of Telstra staff enjoy a great calling rate of just 30c per 30 second block for eligible national calls and a low call connection rate of 27c. With low rates like these, the included value goes further.

There are a number of handsets to choose from and if you take up a Mobile Repayment Option (MRO) you can also get up to $15 per month for 24 months off the price of the handset. If you cancel your cap plan you must repay all outstanding amounts payable on your handset.

Make sure you quote the voucher number TF2OFFER when asked for a Promo code

  • Question - can i get the sim only, and with the $10 get a 200mb data pack? Effectively pay $10 per month in total for a 200mb data sim?

    • No, a 200MB data pack is an extra $10. So $10 min spend + $10 data pack = $20 per month.

  • is it possible you can get this plan for iphone 4?

  • +3

    Hi All,

I am hopping this should be the last post required for this thread as it should answer everyone's questions.

I went to Telstra Indroopilly (QLD) Today and did both of the scenarios below.

    scenario 1.

Current customer of Telstra with 2 months left on a 24th plan.

    • Telstra Agreed to credit the termination free (Around $80)
    • I ported my Telstra number to Vodaphone using the $2 sim card kit from Woolies (You do this when you activate it over the phone)
    • I then got Telstra to port it back and I now have a new account with a new sim card. (means I am new customer which is required for this plan)
    • Did not get handset as I was 100% assured that I can wait for the iPhone 4 and still get the MRO rebate of $15. ( I was told that at any time whilst on the Family and Friends plan you can get a new handset and you will get the MRO rebate)

    scenario 2.

Current customer of Optus using Prepaid

    • Told Telstra that I want the Family and Friends plan
    • Got $5 data bundle and advised that excess data over 30mb will just be used from my $400 in the cap. (you should do this otherwise it is charged at $2 per mb)
    • Signed up, Optus got canceled
    • Put in Telstra sim, all working
    • Did not get handset as I was assured that I can come back any time and get a handset with the MRO rebate. (iPhone 4)

This was not done on 2 different accounts (one is mine, one is my sisters), however I have read on the http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=1409478&p… site that you can do it. (see the post from macguy)

I did this at T-Life Indroopilly and spoke to Matt, Elizabeth did the sign up for me, They were so good. If you want this plan go see them.

I tried to do scenario 2 via the Web and it was a total stuff up, at the Telstra shop today they told me there is no record of my order, no idea what happened , but I am sure in 2 weeks I will get a call, cool thing is I just tell them sorry I already got one and they just have to send it back as I never signed anything.

    Hope this helps everyone.

  • I submitted an order for a SIM card. Today I received an e-mail from Telstra informing me my order has been cancelled:

Unfortunately we are unable to proceed with your order (xxxxxx) due to an issue we have identified in our verification process.

It seems there is a problem with the identification you provided in your order. It does not match the information on your Telstra Account. You should visit a Telstra Shop to have the information updated before you place a new order.

As we are unable to proceed, your order has been cancelled and any delivery charges and/or purchase amount you have paid to us will be refunded to the credit card you used when placing the order. This will occur within the next 48 hours.

If you need to find your nearest Telstra Shop or T[life] store, follow the link and enter in your postcode - telstra.com.au/shoplocator.

  • Deal seems good.

Reading this: "Got $5 data bundle and advised that excess data over 30mb will just be used from my $400 in the cap. (you should do this otherwise it is charged at $2 per mb)"

I take it that means you should buy the $5 30MB pack, and the excess data will be $0.25/MB taken off the cap?

Also the conflicting reports of what the $15 handset repayment is, is it $15 from any phone or where is this list of how much for example the HTC Desire it saves?

  • I signed up a few days ago. $71 upfront total with $1 for delivery fee.
HTC Desire ends up costing me $20/month (ridiculously cheap)!

Anyway, Telstra has definitely charged my credit card $71 (Checked statement today),
rang them today to check on status of order but the sales rep on the phone doesn't
seem to be able to locate my order at all. I rang the Telstra 1800 number.

She then tells me to ring some other number and said her system doesn't show online
    orders.

I rang the other number and get a message saying that the number I am dialing is not
    available. WTF?

Went to browse around on the Telstra online mobile website, dug up another number.
Rang that and got an answering machine stating that the system malfunctioned and they can't
take any calls at the moment and to check back in 24-48 hours. o_O I would of at least
expected a back up service since its Telstra!

What to do about my order? Should I just wait and call them back on say the 30th?
But as of this stage, I've definitely been charged the $71…

    • My suggestion is to go to your store, I did and it all went well.

I tried the web site, Total stuff up. Never got my order and when I asked the store about it they could not even find my order.

I tried to call and just got someone who has no idea what I was talking about. I told the store about it and they laughed.

So even Telstra know the best way to get help is to go in store at least you can talk to someone face to face and you can speak to the manager if things go sour?

      • True, anyone know which Telstra stores in Melbourne are accepting the offer code?

        • My only recommendation would be to call the store nearest you and check that they are a company owned store, rather than a licensed store.

I know when I have tried to sign up on the staff cap for myself I could only do it at company owned store.

All T[life] stores are company owned.

Enter your post code here to find a store.

          • @h4lcyon: Cool, the store down the street is a TLife store lol.

How do I go about in canceling my current online order? Since the sales staff isn't
even able to locate my order on their system…

  • Am trying to order this online today without a handset, but there's no "add to cart" for sim only. This option only shows up when you select handset.. Did anyone else order this plan sim-only online?

  • Telstra is now selling HTC Desire on $49 cap with 200MB data and $400 calls per month. Which ends up being even better value.
