Now if they could discount the box set to something more reasonable…
The Miyazaki Collection is usually discounted during JB's 20% off sales. So I suggest using this sale to get all non-Miyazaki films, as 25 bucks a pop is pretty good for Ghibli.
It's been 50% off on two occasions..
In one you had to buy a blu ray player (cheapest was $99) but you got 50% off any blurays bought with it
The other, didn't seem to be any catches, but I bet they didn't have stock on the shelves either.50% off sounds insane.
I remember once seeing the six Star Wars bluray box set going for $60.
I should've bought it when I saw it….
Actually the second time was 50% off box sets only, so they might have pulled it off the shelf in advance
Just make sure to check each version of the ones you're interested in as some of them have better picture/sound quality and extras on overseas versions. This link has a bit of detail on most of the films.
We're in Tokyo now (thanx OzBargain) and visited the Ghibli museum, probably the most wonderful place I have ever taken my family.
Great movies and a genuinely thoughtful and wonderful imagination. Great stuff.I regretted not going whilst I was there a few years back.
Why do fireflies have to die so soon?
Is there much difference in quality between DVD and Bluray?
Picture and sound quality are improved. This is just 1 screenshot from porco rosso

oh wow - that is huge. thanks!
Massive difference. Studio Ghibli always looks incredible on blu ray especially the older titles.
Just for clarification, even though they don't display a marked down price on the website, the prices are definitely discounted, correct?
Yes, usual price at jb for these is around $37 but with their regular 20% off sales it usually comes down to $32. So $25 is a pretty good bargain.

I picked up Only Yesterday. It only came out a month ago on blu ray and has a brand new English dub.
