Yes, Hoyts is overpriced, yes I know about $10 Optus tickets, and Groupon Deals, and everything else, but I don't think I've ever seen Hoyts gift cards on sale.
I know it's only 10%, but if you're looking to get someone a gift card, and you know they love movies, and it makes you look too cheap if you buy them a Groupon voucher, why not get them a Hoyts gift card!
T&C's

UPDATE:
Credit to Gorodemon for this great information:
Hoyts Gift Card can be used to pay for your Optus Perks Ticket. I'm sure of this as I've been doing this since Optus started the new booking scheme.
Here's what you need to do:
Buy your Hoyts Gift Card (I use Amex Platinum to get 3x points)
Buy $ 2 Optus SIM card
Activate the sim card under long expiry plan (365 days plan). DO NOT recharge the sim card!
Register your number at Optus Perks to get access to these - $ 11 for normal session, $ 14 for Xtreme Screen or $ 25 for LUX
Buy your tickets from Optus Perks.
At the checkout section, you can change the payment method to Gift Card.
Hoyts Gift Cards are occasionally on sale at Coles, grab them when they're discounted.
Grab some pop corns and soft drinks while you're at Coles. Don't be a sucker and pay $ 10 for a bucket of cold pop corn and a litre of watery Coke.
Probably better off to get them a $2 Optus sim card so they can access Optus Perks…
