  • V. impt spec that you left out:
    2160 x 1440 IPS Screen.
    No GPS

    • MATE. That's a VERY VERY important specification.

1440p Screen. Interesting. Thank you @seb.

      • From memory (could be wrong) I believe it's the same screen as the Surface Pro 3 (although device only allows 300 nits compared to 4 hundy and something for the SP3).

300nits is fairly good still mind.

  • The most important thing is does it comes with international warranty.

    • -1

      Lol.

  • Be warn the tablet have quality control issue with the touch screen.

Purchase one and find some area need large press to register and that is after upgrading the software. Software upgrade increase touch register on screen by taking a wider adjacent area. Other I read on various forum seem to have this issue too(with the exception of the early reviewer of this tablet… u got to wonder why).

    • u got to wonder why

      Most reviewers are shit?

      • More then likely they provide better quality to either reviewer or initial batch to improve rating then lower cost by accepting rejected/problematic part.

    • According to the product listing, the warranty is void if any update is installed.

This review slaughtered the device, but didn't mention the touch screen: http://www.digitaltrends.com/tablet-reviews/chuwi-hi12-windo…

      • updates on these dual boot devices are an issue due to android ….. windows updates fine but you don't see android updates other than what comes with the unit …… flash you own version android ( 6 marshmallow) as an upgrade can lead to a path of lost leisure time doing tech support instead …… in the end i made my tablet windows 10 only and it freed up memory also….. i have one of their small dual boots but the software architecture is the same…. hence their warnings….

but if you just want to use it as tablet and not tinker they are great value.

        interesting is also it's 64 bit windows…..not 32

        • Not sure what you mean by "an issue". The vendor states that the warranty is void if any update is installed. The review above says because of the underpowered CPU, the only use for the tablet is web browsing, and that it's not really even good for that.

DONT BUY AND NEVER BUY FROM GEARBEST.
I bought one of these. The touch screen is not responsive. Its not even close to a standard mobile. I find it useless. Dont go by reviews online because all get paid to give vood reviews. I bought after seeing these online reviews, but this is a shit device. And there no support. I wanted to return but gearbest wont take it back. As they say 'its working'. Moreover sending it back will be too expensive as can be done by DHL only becaues of battery.
My advise. DONT BUY AND NEVER BUY FROM GEARBEST ANYWAY.

    • Why is it they can send you anything with a battery but to send it back it must be DHL? Whatever issue there is in sending it back via another carrier, shouldn't that have applied equally on its way to you?

      • It legal issue with sending item with lithium battery via air from Australia. Incident of it combusting so law change for us. Rules apply differently to those sending things into Australia.

  • All the Chuwi tablets seem to have ongoing issues… Well worth having a good read of their forum before buying:
    http://forum.chuwi.com/forum-68-1.html

  • Typical Chinese product, all glory stuff on the specs and photos, but actual performance wise, meh .
They can put 15 mpx camera but still not good.

  • Wouldn't touch it with a 10 foot pole. My one lasted 2 months, totally dead now. Has an issue with power / charging chip, common problem. As for when it was running, worked ok, found cpu was nearly always maxed out, nice screen but brightness wasn't the best.

Save your money and buy a surface 4 pro.

    • Sure. It's only going to cost 4X the price.

      • If it lasts 4 times longer, got your moneys worth, and 8 months wouldn't be that difficult for a surface pro.

        • There's no way of knowing how much longer it's going to last. It's not directly proportional to cost. You could spring for the $5000 model SP4. Will that last you 16X longer?

If you pay $300 for a tablet and you are willing to accept the risk of failure, you're getting what you're expecting. If it's good enough in performance to you and it doesn't die in the next 2 years, or if it dies only once, you still come out saving money over buying an SP4.

SP4 is a premium product. If someone is after a budget product, you can't expect them to save up for an SP4. Maybe they don't need the premium specs?

Likewise, you can't expect a $1500 premium quality product for $300.

Know what you're getting before you buy something, regardless of the price.

I'm not defending this product. I own an SP4 myself. I'm just advising people to have realistic expectations and not cry if it breaks. They got what they paid for. If they want quality they can pay the $1200-1500+ for an SP4, but if they don't need or want something that expensive, why should they "save up" for it?

Even if this item is a total piece of crap, it still doesn't mean you should get an SP4. There might be something better than this priced a bit more but much cheaper than SP4. I like my SP4, but it's not an instant recommendation for everyone. I certainly wouldn't get one for my mother. It depends on what they need and how much they're willing to pay.

        • @lostn:

Hang on why is it 1500 vs 300? Chuwi HI12 runs an asthmatic 8300 atom cpu, lowest end model surface that is still better spec wise than a chwui hi12 runs a far better 8700 atom same ram and storage and it is 929 straight off microsoft site without even looking for a better deal, and you get 2 year hardware warranty.

If you were to purchase a chuwi HI12 from an australian retailer so they were forced to give you 1 year warranty under australian consumer law, prices I've seen look to be around $500 mark. Doesn't seem worth the trouble.

Check this thread, count how many dead after a few days to a few weeks. They are rubbish. The other thing, if it breaks you have send it back to china with all your data on it for it to be repaired. For Surface, microsoft fix it right here in australia. There is a reason these things are cheap, there is zero backup.

        • I don't expect Surface quality for 1/4 of the price. You have to understand you get what you paid for.

If the risk is good enough for you, you might come out ahead, even if it means you have to buy a second one.

The problem with threads for reliability reports is, you don't have a big enough sample size. People are only going to report their experience if it dies on them. If it works ok, you don't hear about it. So there's no way of telling how many failures it has as a proportion to total units sold. Maybe for every 1 person who reported it being crap, 99 other people were happy with theirs? How can you possibly know the fail rate without the complete data?

If you only count how many people reported it dying on a review site or forum, you're not getting the complete picture.

        • Check this thread, count how many dead after a few days to a few weeks.

That would be a DOA issue and they'd have to give you a replacement.

The other thing, if it breaks you have send it back to china with all your data on it for it to be repaired.

That's not specific to this product but anything that is purchased from China.

For Surface, microsoft fix it right here in australia.

If you bought it here, sure. If you bought your SP4 from China, would you not have to send it back to China?

Are you comparing an overseas budget priced product and the returns process associated with it, to buying a premium product locally with local warranty? If so, then you're going to have to factor price into the equation. I can buy 4 of these, one fear each family member for the price you buy one SP4.

You're comparing KIAs to BMWs and saying BMWs are just better. Well yeah, they are better. But they're not made for everyone. BMW has a much more limited addressable market.

        • @lostn:

Suddenly i'm comparing kias to bmws how did that happen? For your information we are comparing chinese made chuwi tablets to SP4s, not kias to bmws.

If we were to go down your silly track, the comparison would be buying locally delivered BMW to a chinese built cherry purchased from a chinese dealer with no warranty. Run for your life….

    • Why, i'm always reading about how Surfaces have so many issues and they break down.

      • Everything breaks but no one knows how widespread a problem is unless they know how many don't break. And no one's going to post on a forum to say theirs didn't break. That is just what is assumed of a product, so there's no need to tell anyone that.

So you get misled by massive reports of failure without seeing the complete picture.

Do I think this is as well built as a SP4? Of course not.

Is it well built for its price? That's the real question.
