Similar to this deal a month ago but $100 cheaper. 17.3" laptop with a big but mediocre screen, a dual core Skylake i7, a slow 2TB spinning rust and low end dedicated graphics that probably won't let you play AAA games at full resolution. However it's $899 delivered from Lenovo.

  • Core i7-6500U
  • Windows 10 Home 64
  • 17.3" 1600x900
  • 8GB DDR3L
  • 2TB 5400RPM HDD
  • DVD-R
  • AMD Radeon R5 M330 2GB

    I know it's cheap, but 1600x900… seriously?

It's a whole lot better than 1366 x 768. It's a decent price for people who don't intend to carry their laptop around a lot, and want less eye strain than on a 15.6" screen.

        calculating the PPI:

        1366 x 768 on a 15.6 inch display is 100 PPI

        1600 x 900 on a 17.3 inch display is 106 PPI

Which is about a 6+ PPI improvement. For reference, 1080p at 17.3 inches is 127 PPI.

I agree it's not as bad as 1366 * 768 (because at 768 you can't even see past the header of some websites and will need to scroll a lot)

but 106 PPI things still look quite pixelated. Well, it's a 'budget' laptop, so you get what you pay for.

      • True, its a whole lot better than 640x480 also

    Why is this a deal?

    • Don't know why one would neg….17inch screen still no full hd, spinning disc, only 8GB, 2 core i7….where is the deal?

For a game like World of Warcraft which is more CPU than GPU, this would be perfect.

  • Just noticed that Lenovo puts the control and function keys in the right place on these Ideapads compared to the thinkpads. A definite bonus :-)

    • That's more of a "feature" of ThinkPad, which is probably the only one putting Fn & Ctrl in the right place :)
