  • How does this work?

Flexiroam X is a thin microchip which is attached on top of your existing SIM card and enables you to access Flexiroam’s free or low cost data roaming whilst overseas.

US$20 for 500MB is expensive even in Australia!

The cheapest way is to buy a SIM card when you arrive. Three has Use your phone abroad at no extra cost in 42 countries.

With many providers you can call a number to collect your voicemail from overseas. Cheaper than paying roaming fees.

    • Free data up to 100G and one sim for over 100 countries.

I agree with mathew42 - where does it say anything about free roaming data? Sounds like a scam to me.

How about providing a quote instead if a brochure?

The only relevant section I see is:

Download the app & register your account.
You earn 100 MB free data when you register.

          Start earning free data.
Simple interactions through the app earns you free data. It can be used repeatedly during multiple trips abroad.

That isn't "Free data up to 100G and one sim for over 100 countries."

It's cheap for data overseas. Your negative vote is invalid. Telstra is $29 for 100mb.

They also sell 1GB for $29.99-49.99.

The cheapest way is to buy a SIM card when you arrive.

Depends on how much you value your time and keeping your number. The cheapest is not always the best.

        Not with a local SIM.

Depends on how much you value your time and keeping your number. The cheapest is not always the best.

Buying a local SIM typically takes all of 10 minutes. You can often buy one on arrival in Airport Duty Free Shops for a small premium over the street price.

Having a local number makes it easier when communicating with locals. Not having people ring me at 3am because they didn't realise I was overseas is a bonus.

Speaking of valuing your time, you need to build up your "free" data by performing "Simple interactions through the app", whatever that means. How much time does that take?

If you use MobiRoam you can still keep your number, no matter what carrier you are on AND make use of better rates from travel SIMs or local SIMs.

Not necessarily the cheapest option up front, but as you say:

The cheapest is not always the best.

  • theoretically this could be better than a travel sim I guess, anybody actually using this?

    • I am using it now and I managed to get 11G free data so far

      • How?

        • They giving out promo code frequently. And you earn data by giving out your referral code. You could earn 700Mb if you register now with referral code and promo code.

        • can you pm me some of the promo codes? I have only got 2gb so far.

  • How long does it take to order and receive in sydney?
Im going travelling in 2 weeks

  • does the data have an expiry date?

    • last for 1 year

  • You have been pushing this pretty hard :)
