    Max Refresh Rate 60Hz

    save your money gamers.

It's UHD. 60Hz is currently the max you can get for that resolution. It's an either/or situation.
Plus the graphics horsepower you would need to drive it at 144Hz would be ridiculous.

Not all games are high resource, I'm sure things like CS or LoL will run above 60.
Display Port can do 144hz, only HDMI is limited to 60hz.

        • It's currently a limitation of the UHD monitors. There are one or two prototypes out that do UHD at 144Hz, but nothing available to the public.
The high refresh rates definitely benefit very fast paced games like racing and some FPSs. I am still rocking a ancient 60Hz screen, not sure where to jump in…..get a regular HD screen with a good refresh rate, or hold out for an affordable UHD that will make shiny things look even shinier ;P

        • @fenric:
If you are a gamer than refresh rate always trumps, it's a much more noticeable improvement for gaming. I used to overclock my CRT to 80Hz but my current Samsung PLS panel supports 72Hz which is a noticeable improvement on 60hz. I'm not sure why the big push for 4k gaming, only 3% of people can afford the 1080 sli graphics card setup needed to drive such displays.

        • @beyondtool:
guys to run good 60fps 4k you need 2x1080 or 3x980ti so to trump this you would need 3x1080 or 3x the new titan
that said this is also game dependent as well

@beyondtool: >If you are a gamer than refresh rate always trumps

"If you do this your a gamer".

Implying "if you dont do this you arent a gamer"

          Both are stupid.

      • yeah i didn't think about what you would need to run a game on UHD at 144fps.

I still stand by my comment though, If you are a gamer (online fps mainly) get yourself a 144hz monitor.

Also get one with G-sync and ULMB. use ULMB for online FPS games. lock your frame rate at 120, drop to 120hz and enable ULMB then sit back and enjoy super smooth/clear gaming.

        • I'm just holding off for the time being. I like the idea of UHD, but the GFX cards are too expensive and the monitors are still finding their feet technology wise.
Give it about 2 years and we should have affordable cards and fully spec'd monitors…..ahh, the waiting game :P
I have had the same monitor for the last 5 years or so….I can wait :)

    • 60hz no thx

    • Well it is the max refresh rate for UHD atm…

I wish the XB271HU is at this price…

    • Thought it was, almost impulse'd!

  • Too bad this is TN Panel.

    • Too bad it's not XB271HU

    • +2

There are good TN panels and there are bad IPS panels

  • Is gsync any good? I have a gtx 1070 which monitor would you recommend?

    • Im in the same boat- believe the 1070 could push out enough for qhd at better than 60fps - I'd look at those specs … unfortunately we are severely limited by options in that space, most are freesync only …
