      What gave it away? :P

      Lol I'm always open about it when I comment on forum posts :)

      • I just find it today.

        • +2

          Didn't Spackbace post a comp for Suzuki with himself marked as an employee. Think it even got comp of the month.

          Edit: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/243635

        • @TheClipIt: I don't check forum and comp very often. I must have missed.

    • +1

      Yea Spackbace has previously mentioned that he's a car salesman.

      • +3

        And made it very clear he's not a used car salesman:-)

        • +4

          Ozbargain have used him a fair bit.. and he's a car salesman.. so…

    Excludes QLD

    I was going to buy 2, oh well.

      • +17

        QLD in general is a totally different franchise if you get my drift

        • +4

      See if your local OW will price match

  • +3

    God damn. Good price!

    • I know, right?! Lol hasn't been cheaper (at least, not that I recall in this current shape - 2012 onwards)

      • +3

        I'd get one if I was in the market. Love the Swift!

  • nice zippy little car, too bad they no longer have the timing chains and use belts.

    • +10

      Timing chains on every 2016 Suzuki model :)

      Not sure where you got your info from

      100,000km service on these is $199

      • +2

        That's insane. Add another 9 on the end and that's what I paid for the 100000km service for my Evo 7 😑

        • +3

          Yeah, timing chain vs belt :)

        • +6

          @Spackbace:
          How much would the price bump, if someone wanted one of these but in Auto?

        • +4

          @Kangal:

          $1000 more, and for this week it also gets the $400 towards accessories

        • +1

          @Spackbace:

          Not sure timing chain has anything to do with it. Our '98? '99 Grand Vitara had a timing chain - which needed servicing (rattled). They wanted about 2k for it. Ended up rolling/totalling the car before we ever had it serviced though. Apparently it's a horribly designed system where it required disassembling the whole (profanity) engine or something to replace it.

        • +2

          @Spackbace: Given the Baleno is only $3K more including auto, what do you think of that as a deal

        • +4

          @RockyRaccoon:

          Proving to be very popular cars :) certainly worth it if the budget allows.
          Same engine & gearbox
          Bigger boot
          More room on the back seat
          Reverse camera
          GPS/Carplay

        • @Spackbace: So, that's a good price for auto version.

        • @geoffellis:
          My 99 Grand Vitara's timing chain "self-disassembled" once. Needed a complete engine rebuild :(

        • +1

          @Yadekul:

          Ya the mechanic suggested that if we didn't fix it, it was just a ticking time bomb. We took our chances. Considering we paid 4k for it, and they wanted 2k just to fix it… and the resale value was only about 3,500$ - we took the risk… last about 2 years with no issues. Then while driving in the outback we took a rough corner a little too fast and essentially destroyed the vitara.

      • The 100,000 service is cheap but the number of people that will hit 100,000 within the 5 years of capped price servicing is going to be very few (especially for a micro car).

        Otherwise, $199-$289 per 6 months is actually very expensive. I pay $120 for 12 months service with my independent mechanic.

        Good price for the car.

        • Independent isn't dealership. Please compare like for like

        • @Spackbace:
          So, dealership service you may get extended warranty if you've kept all servicing with dealership.

          What I think of extended warranty.
          http://consumeraction.org.au/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/Dona…

          Summary - car warranty doesn't cover wear and tear. Everything wrong after a few short years will be attributed to wear and tear, otherwise, it will be subject to manufacturer recall. This article talks about insurance based extended warranty but in my experience, applies to manufacturer warranties.

          Dealership servicing for common vehicles is glorified by car sales reps. I don't call it a rip off, but it is definitely not what it is made up to be.

          Like buying from expensive retailers when local stock online is far cheaper. Warranty is effectively the same, product is identical, place of purchase is not.

        • @tshow:

          Not many local mechanics have the devices required to read codes from every car - that requires the dealership to do it.

          Most local mechanics will do a service for cheap when you don't mention logbook, once you ask for a logbook service the price between local mechanic and dealership become almost negligible.

          I've had local mechanics overfill oil in a car. And that mechanic came recommended! At least with a dealership you have a few channels of dispute to get something fixed - ie if you have issues with a service, you can go to the service manager, and then the DP.

          I actually recently heard of a customer's Diesel Grand Vitara get destroyed - engine went, at around 150,000kms. Suzuki wouldn't come to the party because the service history was sketchy. ACCC couldn't help in that case either, again sketchy service history. Yet if the car was serviced as per logbook and by someone reputable it would've been a different story.

          Everything wrong after a few short years will be attributed to wear and tear, otherwise, it will be subject to manufacturer recall.

          We'll agree to disagree. From the aircon to the radio to other electrics, these aren't fair wear and tear, they're warranty repairable.

    Great car. On my second swift.. Been saving my dollars and servicing it myself. Neither have broken down in the last 8 years

  • +1

    Looks like I'm coming over for a visit. None of my dealers have it :/

  • +1

    Any chance for a deal on autos?

    • +3

      Have been $15,990 drive away for a while now, which is a damn good price :)

      They also get the $400 free accessories this week

      • Would pounce if auto. You think any of the sydney places would price match?

        • Would be tough

        • ok fair enough. maybe the can sweeten the deal with extras.

  • +1

    Always good to have some more car deals on Ozbargain. I remember you saying last time that it was hard to get permission to post up Suzuki deals so kudos for the effort and the ripper price! Swifts do hold their value well in the used car market too :)

    • +11

      I got in trouble for posting a dealership specific post. This one benefits all dealers, so can't see this being an issue :)

      • -3

        So you did check with them didn't you? It sounds like you didn't and seems like you are being belligerent circumventing your employer like that… from your earlier posts is that what you mean by being professional?

  • +16

    Thanks op! Been waiting for these to go cheap. Ordered 10 cheers!

  • +11

  • What kind of car do you drive Mr.Spackbace?

    • +4

      I drive a company demo, Mrs drives a Territory to ferry around Lil Miss 2 & Lil Miss 4 :)

      • Alright, might come down and check it out myself

      • Wouldn't a Suzuki Vitara not be big enough for a family ?

  • Not sure if its still on, but a ad on gumtree had old "new" altos for 13k in Auto.
    I know its a nolonger produced car for aus (new model is ugly), but pretty cheap.

    • Considering Celerio (the newer version, same engine but bigger) is $13,990 drive away in automatic, that seems rather expensive!

  • Wiki's favourite car @ a bargain price! :D

    Edit: they don't come in yellow anymore? o.O

    • Sport only in yellow ;)

      Always has been too

      • How much is the sport?

        • +2

          $23,990 manual
          $25,990 automatic
          + $500 for yellow

        • @Spackbace:Thanks.

          when would be the best time to buy one? I've sort of wrecked her car and need to buy her a replacement. She won't need it until Feb/March 2017.

        • +3

          @Jar Jar Binks:

          Wait for the new model then, turbo engine in the Sport ;)

          If it's anything like the 1.0T in the Baleno, or 1.4T in the Vitara, it'll be worth the wait

        • @Spackbace: I will then. Cheers =)

        • @Spackbace:

          You really should have said the best time to buy is now and at my dealership

        • +7

          @fuzor:

          Should've but honesty is the best policy :)
          And google would tell you straight away that there's a new model

  • +2

    So whats the RRP?

    • List price is $15,990 plus on-roads (dealer delivery, stamp duty, registration)

  • Easily the nicest car to drive in the 15k bracket, bonus that it's reliable too..

  • +6

    Paging Thorton with his recommendation for the Polo….

    • I thought it was Jeeps?

  • +1

    Where's the car made in? Is it Vietnam?

    • +7

      Japan

      • Well hit me with a fish. I was almost certain we source Australian swifts from Thailand and Altos from India.

        • +7

          Lol in 2013 we briefly went to Thailand, but it was like a 6 month stint, then quietly back from Japan :)

          Alto/Celerio/Baleno from India
          Swift/Grand Vitara from Japan
          Vitara/S-Cross from Hungary

        • +2

          @Spackbace:

          Cool. I must have read that in 2013 then. My focus is Thailand built and I'm impressed with build quality.

        • -7

          Alto/Celerio/Baleno from India

          lol, are they as bad build quality and material-wise as the Ford EcoSport, Tata Xenon, Mahindra Pik-Up and other shitboxes delightful motor vehicles that come out of India?

        • +3

          @PinzVidz:

          Suzuki India have a >40% market share over there

          Just think about that for a second… Their population and subsequently how many new cars are sold every year… Yeah

        • @Spackbace:

          Damn, they must have a Toyota reputation there. What's no 1 out of curiosity?

        • +1

          @montorola:

          Suzuki ;)

        • @montorola: i think they have been in india lot longer than toyota.

        • @udyz: India does a kind of cross-production of products under agreement with foreign companies, sorta socialist in nature. Honda bikes are sold as Hero Honda so some of the profits (and manufacturing responsibility) go to Indians, not 100% to Japan. Suzuki must have struck a similar deal some time ago and have managed the Indian influence well so their reputation hasn't been damaged! And having Suzuki there has probably helped develop skills in the Indian auto industry that supports Tata et al.

          You're always going to get a better quality product from Japan, Germany etc who have the skills as well as the equipment to build complex machinery. Trouble is that you pay for the higher wages. Thailand seems to have been trained well by the Japanese to be the manufacturing hub in a place with lower wages though.

        • +1

          @Meconium: True… it was Maruti-Suzuki.
          I think before the market opened up selling automobile without joining a indian company attracted hefty taxes.

  • Excludes WA also?

    • Why would it? :)

      • Because the linked price is $15,990?

  • +2

    Why do these require 6 monthly services, I thought 12 months was more the norm these days?

    • 6 months for toyota.. Mitsubishi is 12months

    • Shorter intervals keeps consumable costs down. If you're a ~20k a year driver, it doesn't really matter too much. If you're a very low mileage driver, cars with more expensive oils but a longer interval can work out cheaper.

  • Is this for MY15 cars only??

    Car sales has an example at $14,888 DA with auto tranny

    • +1

      I believe they are 2015 built, 2016 complied

      In WA we purely go off Compliance Date
