Someone hand me a tissue. It's that time of the day. Ohh…baby these look hot.

I've been recommended this toolkit and waiting for it to go on sale. It is the most comprehensive toolset that is relevant to our metric system I have come across that is housed neatly in the one package.

Blatant advert for average DIY kit.

      • I'm not affiliated in any way. The current price is too expensive for my taste but I would rather have a kit that I can utilise much more than one where half can't be used because of imperial sizes and only having 6 spanners. So I'm waiting for it to go on sale as apparently it can go below $200. The same kit is $399 in Amazon. I don't believe that it is an average DIY kit.

Edit: The spanners in this Stanley kit are listed as imperial sizes only. So even less useful unless you have old vehicles you are working on.

        • TradeTools is great but down here in Melbourne we cant get local warranty. The store they opened close to me closed shop within a year. No more Victoria stores at this date afaik.

  • anyone know where these are made?
My current stanley screw driver set is made in taiwan, good quality stuff

    • Made in China. I ordered this morning and just received mine

  • Was looking at buying this. Not really into cars, but occasionally need to fix something. Want a complete set.

What sockets stuff doesn't it have?

    Don't care about spanners

      • What I meant was, can somebody informed tell me if it's missing anything important?

Because I only use sockets to change batteries, headlights, etc so I don't really know what I'm missing. I've borrowed socket sets in the past rather than owned any.

And why do they have the same sizes in deep drive? Surely the shallower sockets are redundant?

IMO It's a massive overkill for those things, you won't use it but it's also a massive under-range for other things like changing a brake pad or un-siezing a caliper bolt, you'll prolly need larger spanners and/or socket for that…

do an audit of the things you want to do. Oil change, brake caliper, stage-two drag kit thru you auto etc etc,,, then buy a kit to suit… Most of the time it would include a lot of what that has but with MUCH more size range in only one type, AF or metric. Smaller easy to handle more hardy cases…

Target spend, not including torque wrench but including a 20 screw driver set
is prolly $300. Get smaller kits, bigger ranges, af or metric.

you'd be surprised how many times a deep-drive won't fit where a short drive does…

This set should cover your needs pretty well, for the money i dont think you could find much better tbh. The only thing i would buy is a few 3/8" extensions and a wobble adapter to complete it. For most of your wrenching you will grab the 3/8" ratchet and the 1/4" ratchet (for tighter areas or interior). Short sockets are by nature stronger than deep sockets. But their will be times you have no choice but to use deep sockets. 1/2" is used for heavier stuff like suspension and cross-member bolts etc.

Buy other stuff as you need it. General rule with tools is if you have to borrow it more than twice, you should buy it.

  • Great kit, minus the fact 41 pieces are imperial and i cant remember the last time i used an imperial socket on purpose.

    • add the 6 spanners that are also imperial.
