  • Just in time, last one just emptied.

  • How long will these take to be delivered?

    • -2

nothing physical here only electronic one.

      • +4

Which can still take hours for it to be delivered via e-mail, which the op was asking about.

    • Usually within a day.

    • +4

E-gift card is usually emailed in 2-4hrs period on average for me.

  • +1

same day or +1 at worst

  • damm.. Just bought last night.

    • Dont be sad, i'm on the same boat too :(

      • +2

How come u dint see each other?

        • +5

One was taken to Nauru, the other to Christmas Island

  • +1

How much for physical card delivery?

    • +7

Well, u can get the e-gift card, and go to the local store to purchase the same amount physical card. So it won't cost u the postage.

      • I thought you couldn't buy the physical Woolies cards with an e-gift card?

        • +1

Actually, U can. And I did it several times.

    • +1

"Available in a great range of designs, the traditional plastic cards are delivered by courier ($14.99) or registered post ($5.50)."

    • it should be free :/

      • +1

dont know why you are getting down voted.
phyisical cards used to be free with the 5% off a couple of years ago

        • yes I know right! that is why I made that comment…

    • +1

$5.5 for registered mail. I always buy the physical card to avoid typing the numbers.

  • Does it still work for Masters?

    • +1

Yes. I just purchased something yesterday at Masters using the wish egift cards.

  • +1

Ta! Any chance we could see Big W gift cards for 7.5% off any time soon?

  • +11

Shame I bought when 5.25% and wasted 5 cents. Anyone got a time machine?

    • +1

      I do

      • +3

I'll sell you one for 6 cents.

      • +16

        Is it called the Turdis?

  • +1

Can you use the e-gift card at woolworths petrol stations? I couldn't do it at my local one. I think they said only the physical gift card can be used.

    • +7

yep… even better… get the woolworth money app and you can store all your e gift cards in that for fast access/viewing. Tells you your balance remaining too.

      • would be even better if you could pay with NFC from the app

      • Thanks for this. Any idea how you remove old used up cards. I'm sure it's really simple, but I just can't see it.

    • You can at the Woolworths-Caltex stations but not the Caltex-Woolworths ones. There is actually a difference. The ones that Woolies opened run their POS system, the other ones are Caltex franchises that just have an agreement with Woolies. Ways to tell - the sign out the front generally has Woolworths right at the top for the woolies owned ones, any star mart one is definitely a franchise.

    • I sure can use egift for payment at my local areas. A top tip, next time you go shopping at wollies, just take a blank physical gift card on the shelf and transfer you egift card credit to it. Problem sorted :)

      • Please explain ?

        • +1

He means buy a physical Wish gift card with funds from your Wish e-gift card.

Is this valid? I thought there were limitations buying gift cards from gift cards.

        • +2

@uggugg: As per the egift card, the limit is $500 per card. Make sure you transfer the egift card $500 or below. I heard that the terms and condition says that it cant be done, but i've always done this if i want the convenience of a physical gift card especially if I do encounter a problem like the example above.

      • Will the check out staff do that for you?

        • +2

yes they will do it for you.

        • +1

yep, bought $2300 worth of JB hifi vouchers over the counter with Woolies Gift Cards a few weeks ago. Got myself a nice new Macbook Pro, 10% off at the counter @ jb, then 5% less with e-gift gards :)

          https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/260325

Poor guy had to run 5 transactions tho, as max 500 gift cards per transaction apparently.

        • @geoffs87:
You could always buy third party gift cards at bigw or woolies with woolies gc. Whether you can buy/transfer between physical and egift woolies cards is a different story.

        • +2

Yes, I can confirm that Woolies check out staff will do it for you.

Process: grab a blank physical wish gift card from store, go to the check out with your egift card number and pin, ask the staff to load your egift card amount to the physical card. I normally purchase $400 egift card then split into 2 $200 physical wish gift card so me and wife have one each.

Keep your receipt from the check out staff just in case he/she didn't load the money into physical card properly.

Benefits to use physical gift card:

          • Faster check out - swipe and pin only, without typing the card number like egift card
          • Able to use Woolworths petrol stations
        • @kroc:

You know that there is now a woolworths money app - which you can store your egift card details - and it updates in realtime, so both myself and my partner both enter the same gift card number - and when one of us uses say $40/$100 - it updates to $60!!

          Uses data/wifi

    • +1

      ok thanks guys.

    • Reposting from my own guide

FullyIndependent Co-branded Caltex & Woolworths Woolworths Owned Caltex
"Starmart"/Myer One Points Maybe Maybe No
Accepts 4c Voucher No Yes Yes
Accepts Woolworths WISH (Physical) No Yes Yes
Accepts Woolworths eGift Voucher No No Yes

Use this link to find the Woolworths owned Caltex that will accept eGift vouchers:
      https://www.woolworths.com.au/Shop/StoreLocator

Other tips: You can convert eGift to WISH cards at Woolworths, if your local caltex is a Co-branded store and not a Fully-woolworths owned, however this is up to the operator and your local woolies. Multiple users have reported success at some Woolworths, as the WISH cards are custom amount (unlike set value increments like store gift cards, e.g. $100), even at self-checkout you will require the assistant to type in the amount you want to load on your WISH card (and then pay by eGift)

BigW has high chance of fail for eGift to WISH card conversion as the operators have been trained to not put it through.

      Hope this helps :)

does anyone stock up on these and use them to grocery shop every week? hahaha

    • +4

im hoping he got downvoted because thats what we all do?

      Cos i certainly do that.

      $150 a week on groceries = $7800 a year
      5% of $7800 = $390 saving a year!

5% might not seem like much, but hey, ui'd prefer paying 95% of the cost of my groceries than 100%

      • +1

        assuming you shop from woolies..

    • What is so funny about saving money? We do that a lot on this site.

      • +1

i have no idea why that was downvoted, it was a serious question. i shop at woolies and may start doing this

        • +1

          You're right!

    • Yes i use it every week and also use it very heavily @ Dan Murphy's. Spend over 10k a year just at Dans so thats a pretty damn good saving as well as cashback!

  • Good timing, thanks.

  • Excuse my newbienes but…

Can I buy these using my Amex Plat Edge and get 3pts/$1 as it's a Supermarket spend? Providing the transaction is processed through Woolworhts.

Also how does an egift card work? How would I use it at woolies when I do the shopping?

    • Yes, looks like it's purchased via the Woolworths website.

There's an option in the self serve checkouts at Woolworths to enter in the gift card numbers. You don't need to be carrying the gift card around, just need the numbers to type in.

    • +1

Yes you will get 3 points/$1 using the AMEX Plat Edge. I have done this several times

      • Great - thanks for that

    • great question, was about to ask it lucky i scrolled! happy AF with the answers!

      OZB FTW

  • +1

Playing with egift %'s. for free advertising?

  • +1

Any idea how does the Woolworths points work, if al all, on e-Gift cards purchase and redemption?

I suppose I don't get any woolworths points until redeem at the Woolies or Woolworths-Caltex stations?

Thanks in advance for the advice.

    • It uses the total not ur method of payment

  • +7

5% is off is usually available through out the year.. Isn't it?
So are people getting excited about additional 0.3% here.. i.e. only 30cents per $100?

    • +2

      Yes

    • +3

I wouldn't hesitate to walk a couple kms just to save $ 0.30. This is OZBargain afterall.

      • You can also stack that deal with this one to save $0.60

        • +1

ok thanks.. i don't mind buying them now as my current cards are almost finished. but was just thinking its too much discussion for additional 30cents..

    • Yeah I didn't really understand. Even if you bought $1000 worth you're only saving $3?

  • damn! I just bought one this morning b4 the deal started :(

  • Do you have to use all the credit on the gift cards in one transaction? Or can you use part of it and the rest later? For example can you get a $500 card, can you spend spend $300 then the remaining $200 a week later?

    • +1

Sure can. Usually you have a year to use the gift card. Can make multiple purchases until the balance is 0.00.

    • +1

You can use multiple time until the balance is exhausted.

    • +1

you can. It is just like debit card, only different is you cant withdraw money and you have to shop in Woolworth s group.

  • If you are an NRMA member you can get 5% off the Woolworths wish cards all the time. You would have to check other states automobile clubs for their member offers but likely they would have similar deals.
But likely all those extra lots of thirty cents will add up!!!

  • Can you get a physical card and keep adding to it indefinitely or is it one new physical card for each $500 buy?

    • +1

You can't reload them &the maximum you can load onto one giftcard is $500 .

  • -7

You can have 5% off all the time, why the extra 0.3% make everyone so excited.
It was 5.25% off, now it is 5.30%, if it did not get enough vote here, the next one should be 5.35%. it is a such small step discount. It looks like the interest rate movement. Let's waiting for Bigw 10% gift card discount.

    • +3

I upvoted this deal because its more convenient for me & actually saves me money.I live in the country & it's a 30 minute drive to my nearest RACV shop where i can purchase the discounted 5% wish cards plus i have to pay for parking & you can only purchase the giftcards in lots of $100 which i find annoying so an extra .3% is a bonus & yes i too am hoping for the 10% discounted big w giftcards.

    • +1

You can have 0% off all the time, why the extra 5.3% make everyone else so excited?

Let's waiting for Bigw 10% gift card discount.

I hope you don't do this..
You're not supposed to be able to purchase WISH gift cards with eGift at BigW (operators have been trained to specifically refuse it). BigW cards cannot be used at any other Woolworths group store.
Please hand your OzBargain Professional badge on the way out

  • Could anyone confirm that the giftcards work in Tasmania? I'm asking because my everyday rewards card which I used in NSW won't work in Tasmania, so perhaps they have different gift cards too. I tried to put my Tasmanian postcode in to check, and it just took me through to the "Do you wish to buy a giftcard" page.

  • Can you still did before but been a while get the egift card go to woolworths and buy jb hifi gift card with it.
Just trying to save a little on a purchase unless anyone knows any better deals on jb cards right now.

    • Should be okay as long as they have JBHifi gift cards

  • +1

Anyone else having an issue getting the 5.3% to apply at checkout?

  • Sorry, this merchant is not found. Am I the only one getting this error? TA, what happened here? Are you trying to match Groupon 5.5% discount? :D

    • Not working for me either….

      • +4

Will be updated shortly. Will be going to 5.5% for today only. Waiting on Woolworths to update the website :)

        • +1

          boom!

        • +1

Thank you for replying. Someone beat you to it and post it to OzB already!

  • Got the 5.5% yesterday and the email with the codes arrives one hour later. Spent $1000 so saved $55- big woop- oh well.
