  • one only or many items?

  • To be honest, the prices aren't that good to me but I won't vote it down or anything as other might love it. But like that GPS would be great were it last year or two years ago but that price today seems very ordinary and would be a hard sell

  • This seems like a good deal.
Do you have to add the usual 15% buyer premium and GST on top of the listed price or has Grays finally listened to my continuous complaints about these hidden charges?

    • Don't know if you can really call it a hidden charge when it's listed right below the bid price. Not that I agree with those charges anyway…

Looks like these items don't attract the buyer's premium

  • Yes I just ordered a few items .. Free delivery on all items !

  • The free delivery makes it OK, but you're saving small amounts really. Their discounted promo prices seem to be fairly regular in store prices.

Bad experience with Graysonline overall. Bought many from them in the past and no more. Send me a computer with missing internal cable to the small form DVDRW and blame me for that. One computer HD was dead on arrival and again they claims the PC left them in good condition. End up buying the missing cable from Dell at my own expenses.

yeah same here VERY BAD EXPERIENCE. I would definitely stay away from them. Their customer service is one of the WORST. They advertise as working and no faults and when you receive it of course it does not work properly. Then you have to waste more time and money chasing them up and in the end after a month or so goes by they simply say it has been tested and works when of course it doesn't. Then when I told them that I will return it even if at my own expense so they can see what I'm talking about they say they will not accept it?? Is that even legal??

You should take it with ACCC or Fair trade in your state. They are rip off.

      • There are provisions in the Trade Practices Act that will protect you from this. I can't quote the sections on top of my head but you have certain rights, such as to claim for full refund if it does not work as intended or advertised. This cannot be overriden by the retailer's disclaimer.

      • I got a DOA refurb Acer desktop from Grays but since it had 3 mths warranty, went straight to Acer support. Got it fixed without any hassles. Props to Acer.

    • Out of interest which cable was it? Data, power or the 4 pin audio connection?
The last one has not been used or necessary for donkeys years if that is the one you are referring to?

The biggest problem with grays is that most people that have no idea on what items are worth bid on it and assume because its an auction they will always pay less. Most items go for more than retail and in some cases more than the retail of when the device first came onto the market. It was a great site in the early days. On top of that the items descriptions arent the best. They typically dont test things at all, received a few iMacs and all of them had faults that did not get disclosed in the details, all items got described as in fully working condition, two had blown power supplies so i find it hard to believe they test everything.

Not worth the effort even with free shipping.

You are spot on.Buyers are not considering the +15% ripoff + Handling fee + shipping charges. And out dated prices. Their auto bid is not Fair trade. They sell, they administer auto bid, they decide the auction closing time How fair is the system? another version of new bidding sites. When I asked them to show actual prices(bid+15%),they asked me to go to buy it now items. They don't want you to know what you are actually paying untill you get the invoice.I agree that educated buyer will claculate the final price. But it seems majority are out of touch with real value of refurbished , faulty, demo products.

I think knowing what the typical retail price of an item should be an auction buyer's priority. Second would be knowing the extra costs of the transaction. Any buyer not equipping themselves with these information (that is easily gained) has no excuse to feel slighted.

Easy enough not to participate (as I am) when there is no bargain to be had.

Like many others stay as far as possible. Most impossible returns policy.

interesting comments .. ive bought many products from grays before and have always been happy with what i received.

in fact the laptop im typing on now was from grays and still going strong after a few years of having it :D

one time i received a faulty lava lamp thingy from them .. emailed them the problem, they sent me a replacement with minimal fuss. i didnt even need to return the old one which made things really easy.

one of my mates buys heaps of computer equipment from grays for his work .. he's a bargain shopper and hey i guess it depends what you're looking for ..

the standard rule always applies to any online shop. before you bid and decide to buy .. its always worthwhile looking around for more specs on the model, reviews from other companies, checking out ebay and other online trading websites etc. based on all that, determine how much you're willing to spend and then make the appropriate bid.

grays bid system is way better than ebay. at least if people start bidding or trying to get in with a sneak vote, they cant as the timer extends itself. this makes it fair for all parties

    • Yes, that was my experience initially. I have bought over $15000 goods from them in the past. I couldn't tolerate when they blamed me for the missing part that only worth $12 to replaced. As with the faulty hard disk, it was only 40gig and nothing to cry about but again they refused to acknowledge the defective item. They pissed me off and I now buy elsewhere such as ebay, ozbargain, computer swap meet, other online sites etc.

    • the timer extends itself ? that sounds weird , then not truly and auction if the end time can be adjusted ?

      • It's more like an auction house system and makes sense to get the best price for the vendor. It is very annoying if you're used to the ebay system. Their shipping prices are outrageous for anything bigger than a computer. Typical is $1200 for a TV or fridge to Tas!

I reckon fees on top of the bid should be illegal as it requires calculation on the fly. Should be taken out of whatever is bid.

  • Woahhhh. so many Grays Online haters !! I have heard bad stories about Ebay as well. Probably there are more ebay haters than Grays in this world . Look there are problems with every system . Grays isn't perfect but not bad if you know how to use it and same is with any other system. I am an old user of Grays and Ebay , never had any trouble so far ((atleast in last 4 years)

    • Ebay pricing is far more transparent . 3 positive votes and this is the best value GPS they have ever offered . Sounds to me like Grays are not the place to shop for GPS units .
