    Wow, free wifi

  • -2

Note that WIFI is, by default, free for all Le Club members.

    • wifi was free for everyone at the accor hotel I stayed at.
Deal is misleading to say you only get it when paying via mastercard.

    • Is breakfast free by default too?

  • -1

I don't know if its me, but these practices seem very unethical and possibly illegal.

    You get this FREE.
But your payment method has to be this ONLY.
Cash is King, and a business isn't allowed to turn away legal tender.

    • They are

refusal to accept payment in legal tender banknotes and coins is not unlawful.

      http://banknotes.rba.gov.au/legal/legal-tender/

      • Further to that:

It appears that a provider of goods or services is at liberty to set the commercial terms upon which payment will take place before the ‘contract’ for supply of the goods or services is entered into. For example, some vending machines, parking meters and road toll collection points indicate by signs that they will not accept low denomination coins. Some road toll collection points indicate that they will not accept any cash at all. If a provider of goods or services specifies other means of payment prior to the contract, then there is usually no obligation for legal tender to be accepted as payment.

    • They're not refusing your cash if that's what you choose to pay with.

    • They are getting a kickback from Mastercard for volume turnover. As such, the saving means they can give you breakfast at no extra charge. I'm not sure why this is an issue? Mind you, looked at prices of hotel room through Accor direct, and booking.com and it was $21 cheaper a night on booking.com.

Don't most if not all hotel bookings come with complimentary wifi and breakfast?

    • +5

      No.

      • -1

        Deal is intentionally misleading.

Every guest at the hotel gets free wifi whether they subscribed to this deal or not.

        • Not quite. Most hotels in AU do it because it's expected. Worldwide, free WIFI at every hotel is only for Le Club guests.

@djmatt24: Actually many hotels in AU make you pay for WiFi, unlike some countries. Ironically it's more likely to be free at the low end, the backpacker places.

        • @greenpossum: I was referring more to Accor hotels but you're right, more likely to get free breakfast and wifi at a 2* than a 5*.

        • @djmatt24: I just booked the Pullman at Hyde Park Sydney through Mystery Hotels and in the booking it says I have to pay $25 daily for Wifi lol.

  • stays between 1 November 2015 and 31 October 2016

    The start date seems strange

It's an old offer that's only recently been posted.

This has been around for a while. Make sure you check that prices are not jacked up when booking through Mastercard deal. I have seen in the past that prices otherwise were much cheaper than going through this "Mastercard Free Breakfast deal".

  • Thought free was without having to book and stay when I saw the title.

  • +3

OP would have done better if just included breakfast in title

  • +1

Also, might pay to mention 4.8% cashback via cashrewards?

  • I'll wait for their next 50% off sale or 40% with free breakfast. There is another mastercard offer for Accor Plus members (paid membership) where you can get a free bottle of wine when dining and spending over $50 at selected restaurants. There are details on their app if anyone is interested.

Was about to make a booking, but then I realized the free breakfast/wifi was if you pay with a Mastercard for the fully flexible rate, most offer discounts that are much cheaper.

  • I was just about to book this as well and lucky i saw Deridas's comment! The discounted rate plus adding breakfast option came up cheaper (by only a few cents) then this promotion, this is highly misleading!!!
