Done. Thanks
I think a blu-ray drive costs $179 not a damn dvd burner.
Yeah i dont agree with their RRP either, but its what it says. Still cheap drive at the $49.95 though
Does anyone know if it will do dvd-rom bitsetting?
these are great, however i got one for $45 included postage..:D ebay is your friend
still there?
agreed, that RRP is total bull. Deceptive.
$50 is cheaper than normal, but no need to lie about the normal price.
This is the RRP as stated by the manufacturer. However no retailer ever sells products at RRP these days. EG I just purchased a hardback book the other day. The RRP was $50.00. I got the book for $20.00.
Good deal. The best price I could find online was $69 (ITSDevice) but freight is $15.50 which makes is ~$89.
Doesn't have to be the same brand, other substitute brands are just as good. A lot of retailers try to get models that aren't very popular (Less popular = less variation in prices) to make us more knowledgeable consumers think its a very good price compared to the cheapest you can find for that model on static ice for example.
I think a price comparison between different brands would be less than useful. Realistically, I could get a Nu/A-Power/Ritmo external slim DVDRW for a similar price or a no-name one on eBay for a tad less, but I think one would be kidding themselves if there were to expect the same kind of build and burn quality from one of these units as compared to top flight brand-name model.
Take 5.25 optical drives for instance. Pioneer is popular not for the brand, but for the quality of the units and the quality burns which their units generally produce.
Keep things in perspective please.
@[Deactivated]: Huh? I thought I did? :)
@GreenGuava: hehe, you know what I mean.
@[Deactivated]: (Actually I don't, but this is getting off-topic, so I'm happy to leave it as it is :D)
wow, im surprise they can be ran just from USB…
where have you been living? just kidding.. no offense.. The technology has been around for yonks!
seriously i thought to spin the dvd/cd they need tobe powerred more than what USB can gives
Thanks OP, I have been looking to buy an external DVD drive for my ULV notebook for a while. Order placed! :)
This will be my first order with CoTD as well. Hopefully everything will go smoothly.
Received my DVD drive today! With a three day turn-around and the product delivered to my door from interstate, this is absolutely awesome service by COTD. Good stuff! :)
Yep, I actually got mine yesterday so 2 day turn around for me (in Melb). I initially had reservations about them but they seem to be pretty good.
This is a better deal:

You are joking aren't you? Look at the size of that thing. It is just a full size DVD burner in an external casing. It's not really portable. It would be bigger than the Netbook I will be hooking it up to. The unit below it on the web page is more suitable but is $79 so it's the ASUS in this posting FTW.
fair enough, I was comparing apples to oranges.
FTW? Are you serious? How old are you?
I'm sorry oh'learned one. Clearly we are not all as astute as you. Should I rephrase it with "The unit below it on the web page is more suitable but is $79 so it’s the ASUS that provides better value for the learned buyer."
SOLDOUT
Received mine today, it's white rather than the black I was expecting, but still great nonetheless.
I think you should update the header and mention that its a dvd-rw drive and no a disk drive. As when I first looked at it was trying to work out the capacity of the drive.
