does not require high water pressure to extract the coffee.
All Nespresso machines are 19 bars.
That's interesting and I wonder what sort of water pressure can be expected from the cheap capsule machines.
19 bars pressure
@Bubbleshark:
You're right. So how does this particular machine justify its price which is several times over the cheapest? This one is fully automatic and you don't need to do the milk separately like the cheapest.
I have one of this and I wouldn't recommend for 1. below-average coffee 2. expansive pods 3. contributes to landfills 4. price of machine
if you want convenience of these pods and don't mind the coffee, then get the cheaper nespresso machines
otherwise get a brevilleJust bought this pixie bundle and seems like a pretty good deal. Not sure if I'll use it though since I already got a Bosch bean machine. Might keep it as a back up or give it away as Xmas pressie.
http://m.ebay.com.au/itm/NEW-Nespresso-BEC400XT-Breville-Pix…Contributes to landfill? All Nespresso boutiques and scores of third party affiliates accept used (100% recyclable aluminium) Nespresso capsules back for recycling.
If you're throwing them in the bin that's on you being lazy, not Nespresso.
That's good to know. Do you know if the Aldi ones are recyclable?
I have just recycled 100 of pods yesterday.
On my visit to a recycling plant several years ago, I was told they were unable to recycle many items that are labelled recyclable because they are made with mixed materials and that it was quite a job removing these from the waste. In some cases the items were accepted for recycling ONLY IF the different materials had been separated before they were put in the bin.
@EarlyBird: I think Nespresso have their own recycling program … maybe it's a marketing stunt, who knows? I had an Aldi before and the capsules are plastic, it wasn't really specified it was recyclable.
Anyways, I have a pixie machine and I think nespresso have a carbon footprint program about blahblah planet blahblah environment blah sustainability
For the taste of coffee, Nespresso are more expensive but definitely better than the compatibles I tried, if anyone have a good compatible brand, hit me up!
I found that you have to try which pod suit you.
Also Nespresso is a lot better than those cheap coffee you can buy from mall.
If I were you all, use the money to buy a smart grinder, a good drip tray coffee machine and a bag of fresh roasted organic coffee beans will make 2x better coffee than this.
Comment deleted. Misread drip tray as drip coffee.
Seems very expensive for a capsule machine that does not require high water pressure to extract the coffee.
