  • Have a look on the Facebook group 'Rapha Buy Swap and Sell AU', loads of good 2nd hand Rapha stuff!

2nd hand? somehow i can't see myself wearing bibshorts/jerseys that someone else has sweated in….

      • bit of dettol with jersey should be fine.

        Not sure about bibshorts tho

Use LOTS of Detoll and you might be fine.
Or just use this sale and buy a new pair.

      • Sometimes it is people that have unworn items that are too big/small that they haven't returned/swapped, sometimes it is people that have gained/lost weight and the unworn kit in the wardrobe no longer fits, sometimes it is tragics like me that buy stuff on sale, add it to the pile then 6 months later realise that I've never worn it and I would rather sell it and buy something else. I have a couple of Assos items (gloves and a jersey) that I bought off a Facebook group. Assos is notoriously expensive (just like Rapha). My jersey was as good as new, I washed it before wearing as I did with the gloves. Both items cost me about $20-$30 each instead of a couple of hundred $$. Both genuine Assos items. To each their own though. I have bought new Rapha stuff on sale, my Rapha classic bibs are the best bibshorts I have ever worn!

Even those "sale" prices make me cry!

  • As someone who will probably never own this gear, how does it rate against "Skins" in bibshorts?

    • Although never having used Skins, the Rapha bought from last sale was good quality.
Think I paid around $200 and it was worth that price.
Read somewhere online, that the same chamois is also used in Assos which is pretty much one of the best.
I also own Castelli with Progetto X2 pad, Santini and Funkier.
IMO (best to worst): Rapha>Santini>Castelli>Funkier(junk brand but didn't want to spend $200 as my first pair of bibshorts).

    • Also not directly answering your questions, but if you are looking for good value shorts with an excellent gel pad I can highly recommend these: Lusso Pro Gel Bib Shorts

    • I have both Skins brand and Rapha Bibshorts. In my humble opinion my Rapha shorts are the most comfortable bibs I have owned…ever…by a long way! Skins are nice and you can get them on discount occasionally at a great price. They are compression and well made and reasonably comfortable, my Rapha Classic shorts though are in a different league for comfort. Maybe it is just the alignment of my Man Bits or the particular shape of my backside but I find the Rapha shorts extremely comfortable. I was a skeptic and used to make fun of Rapha and the cost and the fact no shorts can make you a faster rider etc etc. I love my Rapha bibs now and I normally reach past some even more expensive Assos shorts I own to get at the Rapha ones!

    • Thanks for the feedback, not like you can try before you buy.. I will look at them next time, just got some new '16 Skins tights, nothing like a new bib pad!

  • No need free postage code as you get free postage with orders over $150 (too easy to reach $150 with Rapha!)
Rapha bib shorts are the most comfortable I have, and their repair service is good as well (I've used them a few times!)

  • They've just added a few more items, yay, ordered the proteam bibshorts to replace my proteam lightweight bibshorts hor hor hor
