You are defending them because you work for them. I doubt you would write such a long and passionate piece if you didn't. Anyway, big w made their decisions and consumers and government departments will make theirs.
What you fail to see is that I could have easily denied my affiliation with Bigw entirely and what I wrote would still stand as it's simply just the truth. To be honest I could not care less about complaints to the consumer department or whatever as nothing will be done since there is no wrong doings. Some people just have to stop being salty over not saving $5.
Now i'm just going to enjoy my copy. Good day to you.

Customers complained that stores were not sufficiently stocked to meet demand, with some stocking fewer than 50 books.
"Customers should be aware that we have additional limited stock arriving this week at the discounted price of $20, as advertised. We continue to seek further stock from the publisher but no further stock is yet available, again due to unprecedented demand for this new play."
On the Gold Coast, a law professor who was affected but asked not to be named, said Big W's actions "violated the Australian Consumer Law bait and switch provisions".
Crucio Booko!
I was just about to post this!
Each carton of books contained 21 copies
Huuuh… Wife grabbed her copy from Big W in Eastland at about 12 - apparently they had heaps in store.
I was at store in Melbourne only 1 hour after opening and sold out, complete joke. the way it was advertised on social media and on posters outside their store is like a big launch with huge stock saying"read it just 31 for $15" well they only had like 50 books in stock.
This is all over news today looks like ACCC might get involved as bigW has violated and misled customers. Large misleading advertising campaigns with Low inventory sales are illegal, considered bait and switch
Might have to bring forwad the closure of some of their under performing stores once ACCC take them to the cleaners. Big W and Woolies Group deserve all they get, shonksters!
It will be super difficult to prove they did it deliberately. It's entirely possible they had a small allocation for the launch from the distributor.
Especially when some locations had 50+ copies (someone else on the first page said they 100+ queuing outside yet had copies remaining?) and copies left, or could buy one several hours after launch.
Yeh, and allocation per store could've been based on literally anything.. Previous sales numbers, book dept size, competition, absolutely random..
But nobody twisted Big W's arm to market/advertise the offer. They did it and they knew they had such small stock. I.e. Bait and switch.
Consumer Affairs will rule on 'bait and switch' tactics
