But it's a dead format. Hell even BRD is on the decline.

    • Show us another medium that has all movies for under $60.

      • vhs?

Why? If I can find the movies etched onto a dog's turd would you be happy watching them on that?

        • +1

I can't imagine a fake-upscaled 4k version of Dr No continually buffering on Netflix or Stan would be any different to your etched dog turd.

        • @snoo: still better than DVD :p

    • Considering they haven't stopped making VCR players yet how dead do you think it actually is?

This makes me feel sad for OzGameshop actually, no doubt they paid a heap to get these in stock.
Not a bad gift tho for a grandparent / luddite type.

  • What's the deal with "Never Say Never Again" and "Casino Royale (1967)" not being in these JB collections? Are they not canon?

    • +1

      Are they not canon?

      Not produced by the Broccolis.

    All the Bond films

Except the ones that Eon Productions had nothing to do with … all two of them.

Just about 11 days ago there was a Blu-Ray collection for $66 posted here: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/256984

DVD collection for $59 isn't that appealing in this day and age, sorry.

  • +1

considering most people struggling to get rid of their old dvds for a dollar each on gumtree, ebay ect this isnt that appealing.

    • Dunno. It works out to $2.50 a movie in this deal. It's fairly close to your dollar a movie eBay approximation.

In saying that I don't have a DVD player and I don't watch movies on my pc (my laptop didn't come with a DVD drive). So this deal is pointless for me.

      • $2.56 per disc vs $1 per disc is not really that close. It's 250% different. In ozbargain terms, that's a huge difference.

I reckon DVD is just too rubbish to be worth the space storing it. Plus you can download pirated copies of the movies in a short period of time these days in better quality. 480p might be ok if you were watching it on your phone on an airplane or something, but on a tv, for a decent movie like these, it'd take away from the experience too much.

Good for a gift for someone old who doesn't know any better though, lol.

  • No Spectre either?

  • +1

The early movies are stunning to watch, DVD does not do them justice.
