  • powershop referral is $75 and they are much better.

      Where's your proof?

I checked VIC (United) recently and GloBird came out on top, Momentum wasn't far behind (and they don't have the 'pay on time' product that all the others have, just cheap flat rates which almost match other companies discounted rates), there were a few others scattered in there too. PowerShop may have been one of them, but it certainly wasn't the cheapest on the government comparison website.

Some providers (with bundles) for our usage were $50 more expensive on Electricity but $70 cheaper on gas - which is very important if your (central) heating & hot water is gas.

(Do PowerShop still have promos you have to click ~daily or ~weekly which further lower the rates?)

      • powershop isn't always the best, since if you use too much electricty, you end up paying more than you should, since they have no daily connection charge.
(i stay with them anyway, since i like their morals)

    • Momentum don't have the 30% type discount for pay on time.
For Electricity they're within a few $ of those random-type-companies that have those bonus type incentives.
For Gas they are the cheapest just now because it's a new product for them.

I liked the fact their pricing was more 'honest' without relying on rebates, % back for pay on time, % discount for direct debit and they didn't require monthly billing.
… was enough for me to sign up for them at the new place, but they refused to give me the $50 off - saying the offer had expired (2 days ago).

  • Maybe note that : "To date, we retail electricity in Victoria, New South Wales, South Australia, Queensland, the ACT, and the Bass Strait Islands"

So not applicable to WA, NT, Tas(?)

  • and they're pretty reasonable in the green ratings:

  • +1

How do you get your own referral code? (already a momentum customer)

    • Check your emails from Momentum, there should be one with your unique code in it.

  • I switched to Momentum because I was sick of the hassle of continuously having to ask for the maximum discount.

In my area/suburb at least the rates offered by Momentum were the cheapest, and their transparency sealed the deal ;)

I have also locked in the current rates for three years..
