Repco 30% off Storewide Including Car Battery - 1 Day Only Sunday 10/7/16 - Voucher Required

640

I went to Repco today to pick up some oil + filter from the current deal and saw this at the check out counter.

30% off storewide including car battery, 1 day only sale this Sunday 10/7/16. It is the best time to buy your car battery especially in the winter cold weather. Usually if your battery is old or did not maintain it, you will get problem when the weather is cold. If your battery is dying now is the best time to buy.

I bought Repco battery last time and it lasted 3 years. Actually it should last longer but I neglected to maintain water level and it dried out. So if you bought car battery make sure you maintain water level with demineralised water especially in summer time and your battery will last much longer. All you need to do is check the water level and top it up, clean the build up and corrosion on the terminal.

For demineralised water, ironically it is cheapest to buy from Coles instead of the ripoff price from Repco or SupercheapAuto

Exclusion: 30% off sale excludes current catalogue and discounted lines, transmissions, engines & cylinder heads, satellite navigation, gift cards, combo deals and trade purchase.

NOTE: Really sorry guys, I did not know that voucher is required and the staff did not even mentioned about this when I picked up the voucher at all… He also did not mentione about voucher required when I asked him about the sale.

  • Repco 30% off Storewide Including Car Battery - 1 Day Only Saturday 10/7/16

    It's on Sunday the 10th.

    • Edited! I was half asleep ;)

  • Trade customers have accounts - invoiced on a monthly basis.

    • then why should you use your account to buy, just casually buy as normal customer then.

      • Ex-GST is one reason, trade prices too that may or may not be lower than 30% off, controlled finances is another.

        • You can still claim back GST on non-account purchases. Just need to keep the "Tax Invoice".
Some trade prices may be lower than 30%, but I'd guess most aren't - I think they are saying you can't get 30% off what is listed as a trade price, so it would be worth the comparison then put on a company credit card!

30% off their already 30% jacked up prices

    • +16

      still 9% off then?

      • +2

Yeah discount is a discount but not really a bargain in my opinion. I usually laugh at their prices when I visit their store because most of the discounted products are just everyday prices at supercheap so I don't really bother anymore. Unless they have a fire sale or they're closing down, I might go, but for me it's a waste of time.

I think 30% off their batteries are a good deal- repco are rebranded century batteries.

+1 nerd points for maths joke.

I've found repco a bit hit-and-miss. They have some great prices, but some stuff is ridiculous. I bought an entire clutch hydraulic system for my hilux (master cylinder, lines and slave cylinder) for $80, which is incredibly cheap. But then they wanted the same price for a thermostat!

      • Well for parts, I normally go direct to the suppliers, I chat to sellers from ebay and usually strike good deals which is around 30%-40% off RRP. I only buy genuine parts which you can mostly buy from dealerships. Batteries, we have a friend who drives delivery trucks (batteries) and buy directly from him, completely legit with tax invoice. Saves around $50 from the shops. He accepts eftpos as well. :)

Can you get a 30% off battery and also get $15 for trading in your old one?

    https://d3i63g6yqk8ui8.cloudfront.net/imageicon/rep/prod/j00…

  • Damn. Just bought a new battery 2 days ago from SCA as Repco didn't include battery's in their 20% off for NRMA discount. Pity SCA's club plus thing doesn't include sales from competitors.
Btw. The battery from Repco was only $3 more than SCA.

  • so this is a voucher for the discount or is just automatic for Sunday?

    • -1

storewide discount, you don't need any vouchers

      • +2

Swung by to grab a battery. Guy said voucher was required and we needed to have picked one up earlier when they were handing them out.

  • Great timings. Looking to change battery in my 4wd as well. They don't have prices listed, so will call to confirm. I was looking for Exide Extreme battery was well with 42 months warranty. Are they any good?

  • From the voucher - what's their definition of 'equipment'?

  • +2

    https://www.beaurepaires.com.au/30-off-exide-batteries
$30 off for trade in at beaurepairs

    • Good to know, however an Exide is far more expensive than a Repco branded battery (the $30 would help a bit though).

      • Is it better compared to rebranded century?

        • +1

I would say yes. The Repco batteries whilst made by century are not in my experience the same battery -
The plates are thinner and they are not sealed. Generally cheaper battery composition all round. The Exide along with a true branded century would both be better than the Repco. That said I've got 2 repcos in my cars at the moment and they are fine. If they last 5 years then it'll be money saved as you probably wouldn't get much more on average with the more expensives. Your mileage may vary (pun intended)….

        • @faceman54: oh and you'll probably find the CCA's are more with the branded Exide and century.

        • @faceman54: Thanks. I could see the exide
          http://www.exidebatteries.com.au/battery-range/passenger/ext…
for $160 on ebay. So wont say it is expensive. Haven't checked it with main retailers.

        • @faceman54: Yes 520 to 600 on the std 55D23L, this is a deal breaker for me.

Beaurepairs will do an Extreme Exide w/ 42 months warranty (50 months if you register on exide site within 10 days) which has 650 CCA for $130 fitted as opposed to a Repco rebadged low grade century w/ 12 months warranty and 520 CCA for $100, this seems like the best value to me probably the last battery I will buy for this particular vehicle.

        • @LauralHardy: I've got two of the 55D23L's and compared to the real centuries are definitely cheaper quality. They crank ok but definitely won't last as long. For $95 at the time they were ok. I probably wouldn't pay the extra $40 for the Exide/real century - at this print in time, however ask me again in 3 years.

  • Any deep cycle batteries?

    • Repco do have Repco branded deep cycle batteries but they are more expensive than the Optima yellow tops.

Went just then, got rejected. Salesperson said that a voucher is required to get the 30% off and that this voucher would've been given in the previous week for any purchase.

  • Title need to be updated with voucher in that case. Was gonna grab something but won't now.

  • Just back from Camperdown Repco.
Asked for the 30% off, they said I needed a voucher. But as they still had a stack next to the register they couldn't knock me back.

    • That's pretty dodgy. There is no mention of that on the voucher at all

  • +1

I just bought some oil from Repco Slacks Creek and they gave me the discount without asking. Apparently customers are supposed to have a voucher to get the discount but the staff at Slacks Creek are just giving it to everyone.

  • Just went to Repco Bentleigh east and they would not give me discount without voucher which were sitting in a pile on the counter. Instead they were ever so helpful in taking a couple of dollars off a car battery worth $180 (I.e. $177). Walked out.

  • +1

This is very dodgy of Repco, their staff did not even give me the voucher when I bought the oil during the week. Even when I asked them about the sale, they also did not mention about the voucher.

    • "dodgy" and "Repco" just go hand in hand.

  • Just print off the voucher and take that in !

    • Don't get your hopes up, they'll definitely want the legitimate voucher

  • +1

I just found my voucher. So if anyone wants something like car batteries or something and in Melbourne I can help to buy and you can pick up from my place. PM me what you want. Maybe others can help in other states, this is very poorly run promotion from Repco which the staff didn't have much clues earlier on.

    • Good on you for posting this deal in good faith op, sucks that repco didn't tell you the full terms and conditions, poor form on their part.
