First post so go easy on me

    cool story bro

    • +3

      Thanks

      • I believe you're not meant to say things like "first post" (it's mentioned in posting guidelines), I assume that's what Orpheus is getting at.

As with the deal, looks cheap but it's hard to tell with these LEDs. BangGood support has an attitude of "you bought cheap crap so don't expect a refund when what you receive is cheap crap", makes it risky buying things like this. I've had similar strips off eBay and some were good, others terrible. If this is a good brand/model, then it's a decent deal.

  • 12V Adapter not included

    What to do?

    1 x user manual

    Luckily I speak fluent Chinglish

    • I believe that youc can buy onw of these dc adaptors for around $15, please and please make sure you buy a dc wall adapter that has passed australian standards, there are chances with fires and explosion due to poor quality component

The wall adaptor should have a C.E logo to prove that it pass australian standards

      • +1

CE certification is different to passing Australian Standards. CE is self-certifying, defined by IEC/ISO standards, and must be signed off by an EU citizen.

      • The wall adaptor should have a C.E logo to prove that it pass australian standards

        NOPE. CE means "Chinese Export".

Get an AUSTRALIAN APPROVED power adaptor. You will not be able to buy that from overseas, you need to buy locally.

  • This will be good to assist me while I wash my bike under the rain at night. Other than that meh

    • You can have a disco with RGB thats pulsing XD

    • 23% more expensive is better because it's from Australia?

      • +1

Definitely, if 23% are less than $3

You have certain customer rights, faster shipping.

Electrical item. If you import an electrical item and your house catches fire and they find the culprit, insurance might not cover it. Every reputable electrical item sold in Australia has either an SAA approval or has been checked for safety standards. Was told this by a guy who manufactures electrical products, not sure if 100% legit. More info at http://www.saaapprovals.com.au/ … So by buying thru an AU store, the liability is passed to them. Just like that girl who died because she bought a dodgey USB charger from an Australian store that was not approved by Australian standards. The store that sold it to her was raided and is liable for insurance payout. Good luck trying to sue or find the guy in China who sold you that product. Besides that, the deal looks good. :P Edit.. Looks like they don't supply power adapter, so it should be fine. Buy that LED strip, grab a locally approved power adapter.

I believe that these led strips lights have never caused a problem due to the small voltage and current, i think that most of the faults are due to the transformers and power supply
As long as it is approved under australian standards

        • Lovely rant, but totally irrelevant to a 12V LED strip.

    • Im pretty sure these are exactly the same as they a both probaly made in china under the same manufacturer but i might be wrong

  • Would this be good enough for kitchen, I'm planning to install one for just under the bottom of the kitchen cabinet (so the bench space has more light for chopping etc).

Also would 800-900 Lumens be bright enough?

    • This should be bright enough, it is 5050 so it is pretty bright, although if you are just using this to light up your area, i think you better off getting a non RGB strip light, you will also need to find a spot where u can put the sensor at, it needs to be exposed

      • thanks bargain4days, what's non-RGB? as in single color? also do you know where I can buy the power adapter + sensor? I want to buy from a reputable aussie store rather than some unknown chinese website…

        • Umm im not to sure about aussie stores that sell them this cheaply locally, your best bet is a lighting centre such as bunnings, jaycar, maybe masters or a local home improvement store

RGB stands for Red Green Blue, these RGB strips allow for multiple colours
While non RGB is normally 3 single non changable LED, they are cheaper and has a more pure white colour

        • @Bargain4Days: thanks mate :)

        • Np =)

        • @Bargain4Days: The white LED's come in both Cool and Warm light.

      • You can run multiple strips. The problem is if you just stick them straight to the bottom of your cabinet they look untidy and the get dirty which doesn't help. I have not used strip LEDs in the kitchen, but have been putting them in the bottom of electrical duct off cuts of various sizes, to tidy up. I noticed recently that you can now buy aluminium ducting with a proper diffuser, but then the cost starts getting a bit high.

    • i have 1000 Lumen downlights in my kitchen, plenty of light. not sure if the rated output on these strip lights would be accurate.

  • unfortunately these are not the programmable strips where you can program them like a VU sound meter, different animated designs etc. I believe the WS2812B RGB LED strips are what you need for that (and a controller).

    • Any idea where to get these?

      • ebay or alibaba most likely

      • Adafruit, eBay, just search ws2812 and you'll find loads.from around 30 pixels per meter…up to 144 pixels per meter….
I have a few rolls here, they're superb BUT 3x the cost of these at a similar pixel density (about 60 LEDs per meter) and….really, you'll never use the animation abilities unless you have time!….
Personally, I'd love to have WS2812's in a hallway lighting up in the direction you're walking….
Or on the stairs lighting up the next step….

    • That would be cool but it would be more expensiveXD =(

  • Just careful with longetivity of these. I've had a few rolls stored in their bags and never opened. When coming to use them, most of the led's don't work :-( seems the flexible PCB degrades somehow with time, 3 years in storage didn't do them well

    • Im not to sure about these but its $15 so its worth the risk
