Fitness First Platinum Corporate Membership Deal - $299 for 3 Months

60

Fitness First Website says $199 with 2015 dates but the poster I saw today was for $299. For those who think this is corporate only, true, but anyone can act as a representative of their company and therefor set this up on behalf of their employer. Must be purchased by 5 people or more.

Is that suppose to be a good deal.

Considering you pay 26 per week on an 18 month deal I believe it is. http://www.fitnessfirst.com.au/learn-about-membership/

most 24 hour gyms are 13ish per week these days,

        • +1

With a pool? If you like swimming as part of your regime than a a 24 hour center will not suit.

        • +1

That's because most of them are very ordinary with basic equipment. Still better value than fitness first imo but depends on your local branch. They are franchises so it's up to the owner on how much gear and effort they put into their gym.

        • +1

          @Powershopz:

All you need is a squat rack and free weights.

          The rest is gimmicky BS.

  • +1

I think this deal in 2015 was better then

  • +1

Have FF changed their 'chase-me-till-i-due' retention policy?
Could I (and four friends) sign up without giving you our phone numbers?

… I also might need to find 4 friends now!

EDIT: Oh, I read it as $199 again :(

    • Lol use different names and phone numbers at all cost…. :)

  • +1

For that amount they'd want to be offering other services as well! Thats $1200 per person per year which is pretty exorbitant for gym membership.

    • Its 3 month only so the 12 month figure would be higher. For platinum membership you get swimming pool, access to trainers and all classes + good equipment etc "apparently". Have been disappointed as certain times with fitness first but it is definitely a premium gym over crunch and the 24hr franchises.

  • hmm im seeing 2 differnet statements on their website
Reward your employees with a Fitness First 3 month Platinum Membership for $199 + gst (normally $299)*
3 month Platinum Memberships Only $299 each* (RRP $504).

    benefits
    • Company paid invoice - fully or partially Subsidised Memberships
    • Company Pay Per Visit
    • Guest Passes
    • Employee pay memberships

    • Yep the current deal I can confirm 100% is $299 for 3 months. Good for a 3 month sprint of fitness in prep for summer perhaps. Its for the platinum gyms which have pools etc. I am on a 18 month membership contract for the same price so it is not bad but you have to try get the 4 other peeps.

      • Doesn't that mean$299 is the regular price then.

        • The longer the contract the cheaper the rate. for pay as you go or for a shorter contract it can be 35 to 40 per week.

        • @w3b3d1g1:
No, I meant the 3 month platinum pack, isn't $299 the normal price from Fit First?

        • @PVA: its at least $471 (advertised at $504 on recent signage)…. 33 per week X 12 + $75.

What a load of bull! Stop eating donuts and hit the walking tracks. Your fat guts will shrink and your bank account will thank you. Gyms only reduce weight by keeping your wallet empty …….

    • +10

ummm not everyone goes to the gym to lose weight… alot of people to get stronger or rehab from injury etc etc.
nonetheless this isn't a good deal.

    • +3

I think that's an absolutist and narrow-minded view. If all you want to do is lose weight, then perhaps, but you'd have to walk for a few hours to burn the same amount of calories as you would in a high intensity class.

Besides, some people go to the gym to build strength and / or endurance, or simply sculpt their body into an aesthetically pleasing shape (e.g. you won't get broad shoulders by walking).

Having said that, I don't think this offer is a good offer either.

      • I think FF is exorbitant also but please feel free to share where you can get a monthly premium gym and swimming pool deal for under 25 per week on a 3 month contract only.

        • You make a good point, it's just that I don't find a 3 month membership particularly attractive. You might as well get either a no contract membership or a yearly. A 3 month membership is neither cheap nor practical in my view.

        • +1

This is a horrible deal IMO, only one club (Bayside) has swimming pools in Melb so that can't be a selling point.

        • +1

Goodlife. Membership gives you access to their classes and pool as well.

        • @huey: HOrrible Huey. Perhaps not for you mate.
NSW: Chatswood Platinum, Sylvania, Dee Why, St Leonards, Carlingford, Rockdale, Top Ryde Platinum and Willoughby Platinum
QLD: Lutwyche, Carindale, Robina and Mermaid Platinum
          VIC: Bayside
          WA: Cannington

        • Because the 4 votes on this deal is so awesome..

        • @mr_vino89:
Same premium gym at half the price.

      • How about load bearing? Definition, endurance, rehab, weight loss …. All can be done without a gym or personal trainer. Like I said, bad deal and waste of money like all gyms.

        • Not everyone has the room to place a squat rack in their house and an area where they can do free weights. I have all the equipment you need at home and I still have a cheapie gym membership so I have somewhere to go if I feel like going in my lunch break at work or have strained something and need to do isolation exercises.

There is only so far you can take body weight exercises beyond that you need to be using weights.

        • My money says you are unfit and overweight.

        • @sirlothie:

Yeah mate, 20 years Australian Army service will do that to ya! LOL

    • My walking track doesn't have a squat rack

      • My track don't have a swimming pool either but I get by…….. AND I save $$$$$$

        • Cool story bro, but here's a crazy thought - maybe we have different fitness goals, and therefore different needs. Which is what everyone else that has responded is trying to tell you. Screw me for spending my own money on a cheap gym membership right?

  • +2

As an employee, I would like my Boss to reward me simply by giving me the $299.

I will exercise in my own time, and the company can reduce admin.

    • $299.00 tax free :P

  • +2

    where is the deal here?

    • If you swim and do classes such as hot yoga etc etc then this is cheaper than the standard offering. To get the same value you have to sign to an 18 month contract with FF.

  • +1

I recently won 3 months FF access in a raffle and they gave me 6 fortnights. If you do for some reason see this as a deal, I'd query their definition of 3 months.

    • +1

Perhaps this is why they are a Gym Admin rather than an Actuary.

  • +5

    This is $25 per week.
Anytime and other similar 24-hour gyms offer $15/week memberships.
In my experience, Fitness First offers a broader range of options for exercise and better facilities. They recently revamped all their gyms with modern equipment and squat racks for compound muscle groups – far better for the majority of people than your typical gym machines. They have group fitness classes, Les Mills, swimming pools and cycle studios. They also have a modern website, native mobile applications for club details and class timetables. Most of their gyms are in great locations, but location is very specific to each person so other gyms may be in better locations.

Yes, you also get the douchebags and gym junkies, but you get that at any gym. And for every grunting gym junkie there is someone willing to help you out, including floor staff.

Most Fitness First gyms also have copies of newspaper you can take for free (publication differs from suburb to suburb.)

You have to decide whether the extra $10 per is worth it for you, but you dismiss it straight away, you're likely not the kind of person to be spending $15 a week on health and fitness anyway.

    • Cheers for bringing some sense to this post

We are getting screwed on gym prices in Australia. Had a look in the the USA at Christmas. For $20/month you could get access to any of one of the major fitness chains gyms/pools/classes anywhere across the States for you and a friend! They couldn't believe what we were being charged. The"catch" was that there was a $25admin fee once a year that they deferred for the first year!

You can still get the Fanily & Friends offer , 50% off the normal rates,
    before start of July

The best deal for gyms is to join your local swimming pool if you have a new one built nearby with gym facilities. For $21.95 a week I get access to full new gym, 50m pool, sauna, steam room, heaps of classes, always 2 or 3 trainers in gym, sometimes I pay $5 to access after hours gyms once off and the quality of equipment there is so poor in comparison.

  • Also FF sign you to contracts and have hidden fees and charges and is like pulling teeth to get out of there. Read online about FF horror stories of trying to leave. They require 28 days notice in writing then you have to sit through pressure techniques trying to make you stay. Its not a nice atmosphere in FF.

    • Understand where you are coming from but I think that has changed. Walked in just 3 days ago and said I was moving town to a place without FF they processed my cancellation and I was emailed a cancellation invoice. Yes 28 days applied.
