The Nexus 6P is an awesome phone!! Highly recommended!

  • Is there a reason you wouldn't just get the Nexus 6P for $696 from Unique Mobiles?

International models seem the same as local models.

    • Local warranty, and probably more signal bands.

    • Depends on price I guess and how you feel about local warranty.

I got a 64GB frost from DWI. Its import but picked it up for $616 which was such a great discount it was worth the risk.

Australian stock and warranty is very good, and these prices are great compared to normal.

I want this phone, but now I wonder is it worth getting it over this store? Much cheaper for an international version. https://www.android-enjoyed.com/lg-nexus-5x-32gb-4g-td-lte-w…

    • +3
      • Yeah, I got one from DWI cameras or whatever during a sale(i forget it, u guys know the one) for 350. Got delivered in 3 days. Cant complain.

    • +1

i just bought the blue version for 284$ + shipping from this site.
I have bought from this site twice beforehand and once ran into a bit of a problem (took 2.5 weeks to send the phone and the charger wasnt working but that was more likely a manufacturer error)

My nexus 5x was sent in one day and in my hands after 3 business days. Was pretty happy with the purchase. No local warranty but it was much much cheaper and well worth the 200$+ in savings

I'm a student so 3 months interest free payment plan they offer via a 3rd party was also very handy for me

If you're willing to sacrifice local warranty and dont mind the risk of running into trouble/a delay or two i'd recommend tbh

    • Cool, but I would stick to local stock

  • I was going to post this deal but OP beat me to it. Cashed in on the Kogan/Ebay sale and couldn't be happier with the 6P. Enable battery optimizer for all apps and the battery lasts close to 2 days as good as Sony Z5. This offer from JB is cheaper than Kogan. I wonder if we can price match with other B & M stores for the Gold edition ;-)

    • Have you taken it running? I took mine for a jog and I believe I may have gotten sweat inside the device. It was less than 24 hours old and is currently back with Kogan in Melbounre and waiting to here from their warranty department. Fingers crossed.

      • Wow, sorry to hear that mate. Mine's already on a Spigen full case and yeah I ain't going to treat this phone like my Sony Z2 as its not water or splash proof which is bit of a bummer. I really hope that everything works out for you with Kogan warranty. Do keep us posted as forums have said that Kogan warranty isn't the best to deal with. Cheers.

        • They're sending me a brand new one, as the fault with the phone was intermittent. I'm glad it worked out well. I won't be taking it running again.

      • I always go running with mine in the hand. Never had a problem.

Can't believe what the prices for the Nexus branded phones have risen to, used to be the value for money product

    • to be fair, the LG nexus 4 which was one of the cheaper Nexus's turned out to be not very good because they rushed production (main concern was it's fragile glass). It also had a relatively small battery for it's size.

they did very well on the Nexus 5x and the camera takes amazing shots too. But battery life still sux…

      • +3

To clarify; up to the Nexus 5 (that's 5 generations of google mobile phone devices) we saw a Nexus device with build and specs comparable to Samsung/HTC/LG/Sony flagships at roughly half the price

This clearly is not the case anymore

        • Yes. They've really spoiled us with their cheap pre-5 Nexus devices haven't they…

According to polls on Phone Arena:

Do you think that the Nexus brand is getting overpriced?
49.21% (1115 votes) Yes, the happy Nexus times are over
19.9% (451 votes) No, the Nexus 5X and 6P are priced well for what they offer
30.89% (700 votes) In the US the 5X and 6P are priced fine, but the pricing abroad is too high

There of course still some cheap Nexus-like devices still around, such as the Motorola E and G series. But the specifications of course, are quite low end and won't stack up even to previous gen flagship.

        • Ummm..no they weren't. Nexus 4 and 5 were cheap. Galaxy Nexus and Nexus S weren't. No idea about the Nexus One, but there really wasn't an Android flagship market at that point.

      • +4

Did you actually have a Nexus 4? I did and I reckon it was the best phone I've owned to date.

        • I do. And still use it. But now it's really dying in every way (3.5 years of daily use)

      • Yep, but I mean, fast charging kind of means battery life doesnt matter as much.

  • Local warranty is 2 years. Happy to pay $100 extra for it!

  • The 6P has been fine so far.

But get a case, or a skin because it is ridiculously slippery.

    • I put a dbrand skin on mine, and that helped a lot grip wise.

      • I was concerned about how easy they are to remove afterwards.

        • Fair enough…I'm sure theres info online. I actually had mine swapped over due to a fault, so couldnt really tell you. I did however take off the border sections after a few weeks and it came away no problem.

    • +1

That's the good thing with the 5X, no ugly case needed.

  • +1

Nexus 5x 32GB White DWI eBay 3 left $368.10 Grey import! It comes down to warranty at the end I think. Is it worth taking the risk?

    • +2

No, online store warranty is difficult as hell!

  • What's the battery life like on 5X? Heard complaints people can't even get a full day out of it.

    • I mean, if you used it nonstop all day, yeah it might not last the entire day.
It has fast charge with USB-C and has the cable included in the package.

  • How bad is the lack of OIS on the 5X camera? That's my only concern with this. Otherwise great deal.

    • I have the 5X and it's absolutely fine, I had an iPhone 6 and it's a much better picture.

    • It has the same sensor as the 6P. I've never had an issue even in dim light. It's a fine camera.

Viewing photos on the 5X will look different to the 6P because of the LCD screen on the 5X

I'm going to sit this out and wait for the new phones

    • +3

with that attitude you may as well wait till you're on your death bed then buy a phone. That way you know you won't have to upgrade

      • +1

It's mid year and October is when the announcement comes for new Nexus phones, my xiaomi is fine for the moment and my financial situation I can't justify a phone.. but you can take being an asshat to the grave

        • -4

C'mon mate, don't carry on like that. Just ask your Mrs for some money, I'm sure she will give you some for a new phone. If she says no just pinch it out of her purse, hopefully she doesn't notice

  • +1

Grey importer may sell cheaper but for extra ~$100 for local warranty (2 years). JB it is!

  • Being the owner of a 5X, I'd suggest buying the 6P. The 5X is nothing like as good as the 6P is, in pretty much every way.

    • +6

Why would it be? It's hundreds of dollars cheaper.

      • I guess "nothing like as good" means something different in your world.

  • The 5x or the z5 compact? Currently running a z1 compact and annoyed by lack of b28 indoor 4g. Decent camera, all day battery and 32gb minimum memory are key as is a handset that isn't massive, (internal memory important as no matter how it's managed most apps/games use lots of internal storage.

    • Z5 Compact has overheating issues (SD810 chip) and camera is less extraordinary than advertised. The 5X is also slightly bigger than the Z5C. However, the 5X's battery life is worse than the Sony. They've both got 2700mAh battery, but the Z5C is smaller, has a 720p screen, and has Sony's customised Stamina battery saver.

    • For what it's worth, I bought a z5 from Telstra, had it for about 1 month, used regularly and found it to get warm/hot very quickly, throttle a lot, lag (running 5.1.1 but Sony have now updated to 6) and was surprised by the fact it felt more difficult to hold than my Nexus 5 (too small, too square). I sold it and went back to my old n5. Having said that, the battery life was great and the option to add a micro SD card was also a big bonus.

  • Can someone please advise if these purchase outright mobile has "Telstra/Optus/Vodafone" branding on them?

If not, I am assuming the Android update comes direct from the source and not needing to wait for the telcos to do their "testing" before releasing?

    • No branding on JB phones

      • Thank you aldoduco

Nexus 5X gets all the latest upgrades and beta if you desire.

My 5X is running Android N.

      Love the phone.

  • 5X was for $450 at JB Hi-Fi a few months ago, which is when I bought it for my wife. Much better deal than now IMO.

    • I believe that was for the light blue only, which probably isn't as popular as black

      • +1

Yep, but it looks better than the black IMO.

      • I believe that was for the light blue only, which probably isn't as popular as black

It was meant to be blue, but it actually turned out to be black for many people, including myself ;-)

  • FYI i just picked it up from JB hifi got it for $779 and also came with the huawari wristband aswell included

    • Damn. Got one as a last minute EOFY decision last night - got to my local JB at 8.55 after 2 near work were sold out. Should have taken more time and read your post and asked for the wristband too.

Nexus 6p is $744.00 outright at optus unlocked.. any issues with this apart from possible branding which might just be the splash page and a few apps?

    • +1

In relation OTA's you may not get them as soon as Google releases them, be careful.

    • I believe Optus is also only 32gb where as JB is 64gb. Probably worth the little bit extra for 64gb I'd say for
