Last Friday, Port Phillip Ferries offered a free travel day. One of the big issues with this service is the high price. They've been listening and have dropped the prices from $13 One-Way & $20 Return to $3.90 One Way and $7.80 Return. These prices match the train/bus/tram prices. They'll be offering the prices during the trial period (until end of the year?).
- Parking is free at Wyndham Harbour. Location.
- It takes just over an hour each way.
Only 5 people rode the ferry today. The free service on Friday got 80 people to use the ferry.
If they integrate the service with Myki and speed up the ferry then this will probably be viable.
Someone must be copping the difference in cost somewhere. Unless they had massive margins to begin with.
