i dont trust chinese toxic ceramic, you dont want your food touching that. Lot of lab analysis showed ceramic coatings on many chinese kitchen and cooking products contains toxic chemicals.

      Source please?

      • +6

who needs source? anytime there's chinese anything someone will say toxic something.
half the time they'd be right tho…

        • +3

Well if they're only right 50% off the time I'd like a reputable source instead of instantly believing a random guy on the internet? :/

That may be true Bargaingeek however the blades on these knives are solid ceramic, not a spray-on ceramic coating over steel. Also, can I assume you never eat out or at friends houses or eat pre-prepared food? Better get that tin-foil hat ;)

Wise words from Neil Finn… 'Everything is good for you if it doesn't kill you'

Googling health concerns about even ceramic coating, mostly all you find is nutter "wellness" blogs, and the concern is over PFOA.

None of that applies to ceramic knives.

On a quick search I couldn't find any data or reputable articles looking at zirconium ceramic knives, only ceramic table-ware & ceramic-coated non-stick surfaces. The table-ware data I came across suggested "made in China" wasn't a predictor of how much lead/cadmium it would leach.

I got the previous linked deal. They are pretty good, definite feel nice when cutting veg

    • Agreed. The cheap black set I got via the previous deal are stupidly sharp but I know if I ever drop them they'll just shatter so I'm not yet convinced they're the be-all-end-all replacements to steel knives.

      • +1

They are not that brittle, but I did manage to break a tiny bit off the tip of one knife.
You still want steel for cutting bone, nuts, etc.

How about bread? Any good deals on a 6" serrated ceramic knife?

        • They are brittle.

I love the Aldi's ones. They are very sharp, but none of them survived. Accidentally cutting a bone and you could find your knife has half of a moon on its blade …

        • @hluu0111:
Thats sounds poor. I've had one for years, will see if the new set last as well.
