  • Display: 13.3” Widescreen HD TFT Active Matrix XGA 200NIT CSV (1366 x 768) resolution
    Integrated 10/100Mbps TX Ethernet
Warranty: 1 year limited international parts and labour

    these are the pertinent downfalls

    • downfalls why do u say?

      • no Gigabit Ethernet is the only downfall I can see
        the rest are pretty standard..
What resolution does a 13" widescreen need to have to satisfy you tony?

        • surely you've seen the roundabout arguments in the past about 768p screens?

asus have a 2yr std. warranty now

  • has anyone got one of these? what are your thoughts on it? thanks.

  • The Acer 3810T series is much better value. Slightly better basic specs and $200-$300 cheaper, even at this discounted price.

Had one for 6 months and it's been gold - even after I accidently dropped it.

  • The Acer 3810T for $499 (free shipping) with equally long battery life and slightly slower CPU is a much better deal.

  • pretty average, the aldi one is better, besides the battery life, this is a very average machine.

  • How long does shipping take from CotD? Im looking for a portable laptop/netbook with a 12-14" screen, do you guys have any suggestions?

    • one of the slower Online stores, not unusual for things to take a couple/few weeks.

there are better deals to be had (eg aldi, friend bought a laptop from DSE for about the same price with 4g ram, 500g hdd, larger screen, and office 07/2010 upgrade…)

      • I've bought numerous items from COTD, and they have all arrived in less than a week. Also I would trust Toshiba over Acer, or Aldi any day. Larger screen means more weight, and usually a cheaper unit.

        • Yeah I don't want a larger screen, and my past experience with Acer has been horrible. Im still thinking if I should buy this, are there any other deals that are around 13" that is not Acer?

  • Acer/Aldi vs Toshiba is not a fair comparison..
It's like comparing a Kia to a BMW… the build quality is in a totally different league.

  • The spec doesn't show that it has an optical drive, does it?

    • No optical drive. Keeps weight down.

      • wow, thats dodgy, didn't see that…

        • Was that meant to be sarcasm?

It's so hard to tell over the nets.

          • @[Deactivated]: nah, couldn't live without an optical drive, and having to buy an external and lug it round is a bit of a pain.

            • @wisc: Oh, I understand needing an optical drive.

But these systems are designed to be as light as possible, and all of them (in this price range) don't have optical drives. So it's not all that dodgy.
