  • That seems cheap for that much power… About the same or better than Xiaomi, Mr Clear?

    • +5

      They're about equal and very good for the price. ROMOSS were the main player before Xiaomi came in.

      • Need one for a present for someone, and I think the 20 might be too big for her for a handbag etc (travelling), don't suppose there's a 10,000mAh you could do something on?

        • +1

          Something smaller like this?

        • @Clear:

          Yeah something like that

        • +16

          There's a joke in there somewhere

        • +2

          @tchi6:

          Maybe, but you haven't found it, and now it's too late :P

    • These are very nice, speaking for first hand experience, i have this exact model and it works well, only concern is its quite big, the same as a 5.5inch phone and its quite heavy

  • +3

    I would not recommend buying from geekbuying. Poor after sales service.

    I am currently trying to get a refund or replacement for some faulty headphones. First overseas based place I've bought from that insists I send back the faulty pair at a cost great than the product in order to get a full refund or replacement.

    • +12

      What's your order number? I'll get it sorted.

      Same goes for anyone else that ever have issues - send me a PM and I'll get it sorted.

      Also, activate Paypal's refunded returns ;)

      • Thanks, I'd just like another one that's works, number is 3659093. I look forward to hearing back.

      • +1

        Sent a message with details on 20th, yet to receive a response from you.

        • +1

          Sorry about that. I get a lot of notifications and miss some on the rare occasion. I'll take a look at it now.

      • Just like to reinforce geekbuying bad service, after promising to "take care" nothing happened and I ended up with the same poor resolution, send faulty goods back for a poultry refund, meanwhile I'm without the earphones I purchased.

        I will avoid geekbuying who even after promises publicly in this post did nothing different!

        • I'll have another word to them.

    • This is the norm. Paypal can cover that cost for you

      • +1

        No it's not generally, this is the first time in many purchases for something this cheap and from China that I've been asked to post it back. I know about PayPal but is is a hassle for a $20 set of earphones.

    • I agree with this guy, I had no end of issues with buying a faulty power bank from them.

      Even after speaking to Clear here, i eventually settled on what they offered because it was getting too hard. It a was $10 refund (less than half the cost) plus $5 credit.

      Surprise surprise they found a way to sting me again. It's not $5 credit, but $5 off if you spend $20. I know it seems minor, but it's a real slap in the face.

  • Thanks OP

    Have placed my first geekbuying order!

  • Is this the quickcharge model?

    • No sorry.

  • Thanks, got one. See how we go.. first Powerbank.

  • Need a type-c power bank

    • +11

      I'll have a deal on one when the Tronsmart Presto is out. It's Type-C Fast charge and QC3.

      • What's Type C and QC3, mate? Pardon my ignorance.

        • -1
        • +3

          USB Type-C is a connector type that some phones have. QC3 Qualcomm's Quick Charge 3.0 technology found in some phones. The tl;dr is that it charges compatible phones very very fast.

        • @Clear: But, there are normal connectors which charge fast as well. Right? Such chargers are a bit more expensive than normal ones. I am referring to wall chargers, not sure if there are such fast charging powerbanks (with normal connectors too).

        • +2

          @virhlpool: It gets technical, but the short version is that putting QC3 or similar technologies through USB Type-C breaks the specification. So manufacturers are making their power banks and chargers compliant with the Type-C Fast Charge specification (5V/3A) instead.

          That's why there is a dedicated USB A port for QC3.

        • +1

          @Clear: You sound like you know your stuff! Got any USB 3(.1) PD (Power Delivery) power banks in stock, or coming soon? I want some of that 20V action!

        • +1

          @abb: They only started implementing PD very recently. I'll speak to the marketing team more and see if there is anything instock or coming.

      • +1

        thanks!

      • Why is the Tronsmart Presto looking like a brick when it is using Lithium Polymer Battery instead of 18650 Lithium Ion? The Xiaomi Pro is so slim.

        • Higher capacity.

  • +1

    Bought this a couple of months back from everbuying. Great powerbank.

  • Looking to buy two of these. Whats the go on taking them along overseas? Hand carry or checked luggage only?

    • -6

      I recommend putting them into checked luggage as some airports are cracking down.

      • +5

        This is bad advice, unless you are intending to break international aviation regulations. Portable battery packs such as this are considered to be a "spare battery" and as such, is not permitted in checked luggage. Only carry-on. The reason is if it were to catch fire in-flight, it would be noticed and you would have an opportunity to try to extinguish in the cabin, but in the luggage hold, no chance.

        • I was going from personal experience as anything 20Ah or above gets confiscated in hand luggage in a lot of airports now.

          Thanks for letting me know.

        • +2

          @Clear:

          as anything 20Ah or above gets confiscated in hand luggage.

          The reverse. The ONLY way you can take such items is in hand luggage.

        • @llama: I did a ninja edit and said in a lot of airports ;) China for example are doing it.

        • @Clear:

          V. Regulations on carrying lithium battery on flights:

          It is prescribed by CAAC that:

          1. Lithium battery can only be taken onto the plane as carry-on rather than checked baggage.

          2. Passengers can carry electronic products that incorporate lithium/lithium ion battery cell or battery, and such devices must be intended only for private use (such as watches, calculator, mobile phone, laptop computer, portable video camera).

          3. Lithium battery must be protected from short circuit and can only be taken as carry-on baggage. Each passenger can carry two standby batteries at most.

          Not sure where you get the 20Ah thing from, but you certainly cannot check in Lithium batteries in Chinese airports.

          Ninja Edit to add:

          I found some info that each spare batteries can only be a maximum of 100wh. Based on this Romoss being classed as 5V, then that means 20,000 mAh is just fine. If the actual Battery Voltage & Capacity is used, then this is only 3.7 x 20 = 74Wh which is well within the limits.

          https://www.travelchinaguide.com/essential/civil-aviation/

        • @llama: The 20Ah part was coming from the Chinese tech sites I read. Many people were complaining that their 20000mAh power banks were being confiscated at customs. Personally I've never had an issue taking mine through Australian customs.

        • +1

          @llama:

          you certainly cannot check in Lithium batteries in Chinese airports

          i can attest to that - my check-in was flagged because dad left the power bank inside. Beijing is a beautiful city but the constant military presence made us jumpy so when the buzzer went off and the (immigration?) officer waved me over i nearly had a heart attack.

          lucky the officer was pretty chill, just pointed to an info sheet that said external batteries had to be packed in your hand carry.

    • +5

      Spare batteries must be carried in your carry-on baggage.

      I have flown with no issues with a xiaomi 16,000 and 10,000 mAh powerbank in my carry-on bag from
      * Adelaide - Doha - Barcelona,
      * Barcelona - Helsinki,
      * Stockholm - Brussels,
      * Brussels - Dubrovnik,
      then I lost the 10,000 mAh one on a train and flew from
      * Budapest - Barcelona,
      * Munich - London,
      * Amsterdam - Hong Kong,
      * Hong Kong - Adelaide.

      I'm not clear whether a power bank is classified as a "spare battery" or a "device" (since it's not just a battery cell) - to be conservative I'd assume it's classed as a spare battery.

      100Wh per battery is the limit before you can only have 2 and need to get approval from the airline.
      100Wh at 3.6V (internal battery voltage) would be 27,700 mAh per battery
      Unless your batteries are bigger than this, you can carry a "fair amount"

    Thanks OP. Ordered one. The process was quick and straightforward.
    Just a couple of questions
    - How many charging cycles does this powerbank last
    - What cables are included in the box

    Thanks

    • well that really depends, the actual capacity in mobile phone terms is about 12000-13000 due to voltage(3.7 and 5, forgot which is the 20000 one) and loss in conversion

  • Also have this. It's good however wish the display wasn't as bad as it is. Can't see anything unless at a specific angle.

  • +1

    Ordered. Hope to get it soon

  • Hey OP what I really need is a good deal on the Xiaomi Hybrid MI IV Gold earphones again. How long is delivery again to AU?

    • I'll see if I can get a deal on them sometime soon. Free shipping from China typically takes 3-4 weeks.

  • Just to understand the capacity in layman's terms, how many Samsung S5 batteries this powerbank can charge from 0% to full (100%) in one round of its (powerbank's) full charging? Just said Samsung S5 because I use that phone.

    • +2

      Without all the technical stuff, you're looking at about 4.8 times.

      • That's good enough.

  • It's a very BIG powerbank. I prefer and still using my xiaomi 10000mah after buying this.

  • +1

    Any deals on power banks with jump start capability?
    Thanks

  • Thanks, perfect for my long push bike trips (especially night ones).

  • +2

    insert altomic' s negative vote and explains that how much cheaper it is at EverBuying and how there's EB points and app discount

    Funny because it's true

  • hi Op, is this compatible for laptops? if not which accessory do i need instead? keen to get powerbank for laptop. hope you can post a deal too. thanks.

    • The output isn't high enough to charge laptops. Is it an Macbook or something else?

      • just an lg gram. input 1.0A 100/240v output 19v 2.1A just typed whats on the back of the adapter. thanks for prompt response.

    • hi Op, is this compatible for laptops?

      Of course not, unless your "laptop" charges off 5 Volts.

      if not which accessory do i need instead?

      keen to get powerbank for laptop

      The official technical term for what you want is "A laptop battery".

      EDIT: Ahhh - an LG Gram… well, that's got a non-replaceable internal battery, has it?

      You'll need to buy a powerbank with internal Boost Converter and suitable charge leads (with laptop type plugs).

      • thanks for your input @llama

        something like this i thought of -> https://www.kogan.com/au/buy/kogan-universal-20000mah-power-…

        not easy replacing the battery on her laptop unlike the old days.

        • +1

          Yeah that Kogan came up when I googled. Officeworks have them too.

          Be aware that such a powerbank will be large and heavy… maybe heavier than the laptop itself LOL

        • @llama: LoL. that i expected. thanks again.

        • +1

          A few people have reported the Kogan one to die after the first or second use.

          Something like this would do the job nicely, and it isn't very large.

          Or the officeworks one llama suggested if you want a bit more capacity.

  • Question for anyone that owns one (or has one to recommend), I was thinking about using one of these to extend the time my dash cam runs when the car is parked. Once this powerbank runs flat do you need to press that button on the side each time to start it up, or is that just to display the % remaining?

  • Hi Op How to buy more than one items with this promo price.. Seems like the code only works for single item on the cart.

    • You will have to order them separately.

      • What if i want to buy 100 pcs. Do i need to place 100 order?

        • If you want a large quantity send me a PM and I'll have something arranged.

        • @Clear: unfortunately I cant PM you. I am too young for this options..:). I would loved to have a chat with you about bulk buy. Thx

        • @refat911:

          https://www.ozbargain.com.au/user/187964/edit/privatemsg

          This should take you to the option to fix it.

        • @Clear: Still not working for me. Also I send a request using website but have not received any reply. whats the best way to contact seller.

        • @refat911:

          It's enabled now. I've sent you a PM

  • Now it comes up with a message: "Sorry, the coupon code is not valid for orders less than USD 28"

    Does that mean the deal has expired?

    • +1

      Yeah sorry. The promotion was originally for 200 units but we extended to 300

      • No worries at all - and thanks for the reply!

  • Just in update on poor customer service from Geekbuyiing after promising on ozbargain yesterday to sort out the issue with faulty earphones I purchased recently I have had no further action. Buyer beware.

    • +2

      Give me a chance please. I do this Geekbuying stuff on the side ontop of my own full time job and personal life. I'll give you an update as soon as I can.

      • Hmm I thought a day is giving a chance, on top of that they take at least 2 days to get back to me each time I ask a question. All I wanted is a working product that I paid for, not too much to ask.
        In fact they didn't even respond until I raised it through PayPal.

    • So to give you an update. They acknowledged my message and I've raised it again with them to make sure.

      Customer service will be in contact as soon as possible.

  • Hey op, can I use this to charge a pocket wifi? Thanks.

    • Yeah it'll charge one.

  • I am trying to order on the desktop site but when I choose to checkout with PayPal, it goes to a blank screen. I can't seem to get past this.

    EDIT: I used the mobile site and that worked OK.

  • Like Eneloops you can never have too many power banks

    Thank god…That's a relief. I think I'm nearing 100,000 mAh in combined capacity. This Romoss will tip it well over.

  • Do you guys deliver / offer pickup in HK? I would like to send to a family member.

  • Just ordered 2. Now the waiting game.

  • code IRIBGNRZ is not working for "Tronsmart QC 2.0 5-Port USB Charger $18.99 US" deal, please fix!!!

  • Got anything with jump start capabilities?

  • Anyone received theirs yet?

    • Not me. Waiting on 2 of them.

  • -1

    Received mine on Friday. It had 74% charge in it already.

    • Lithium batteries have a recommended storage level so they'll often be around 40-80% full out of the box. They'll age much quicker if they're fully discharged or 100% full.
