These are ticketed at $17 however they scanned at $6 so bought 3 more (product id 8298187), I assume everywhere not just the store I visited, I can produce a receipt if necessary. Just check the stock as I regularly find they are broken in the shop or cracked or mal formed when the plastic was too hot it smells inside the box and the plastic is warped. Other than that these are the best clear(pink in this case) storage boxes you can get that I have tried.

anyone know if these would be ok to fill up with soil and plant plants in? BPA free means the plastic is safe if it leaks into the soil right?

    • BPA free means nothing here. They might as well say "cholesterol free".

The scare over BPA was with it getting into food. Particularly with containers that are heated, notably baby bottles.

    • Had a similar idea to use these and a sturdy table from gumtree with cut-outs to make a standing vege patch.

    • These boxes should be no good for gardening because they are not UV resistant, so the plastic will go crumbly after a few years.

      • if that is the only issue then maybe if I lined the outside with aluminium foil? does that help reflect UV? would look ugly though.. but still maybe better than purple/pink

  • Wow, thats cheap. They usually go for $17 each.

anyone notice that it is actually purple instead of pink?

    • You might be right about my link that's why I put the product id number in the text.

One man's pink is another man's purple.

      • What's the difference between pink and purple?

        • +4

          the colour

Looks like the pink version of the clear ones I always recommend on here. Anything under $10 is a good deal. I have about 50 of them.

Much better than other brands of cheap plastic storage tub:
    - stronger,
    - lasts years,
    - easier to carrier,
    - you can see what's inside,
    - no useless wheels that lock up and/or break when you put something heavy in (the only time you'd really need wheels),
    - fairly airtight,

    etc, etc.

Where do you store your 50 boxes!?

      • Curious about this too! I love storage containers but these are 52L each…

      • Big garage in the backyard.

Allows us to keep our home uncluttered, but still hoard lots of stuff, while also being able to move house easily.

anyone know how many eneloops can fit into these tubs?

    • +3

Should hold about 52 litres of eneloops.

Where are you getting this information from?

    • +1

      less than 4035 AA's

  • Good to use with this

  • Nice!.

This one costs a little bit more but usually more in stock. $7.98 = http://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/p/icon-plasti…

    • Wonder if you could price match?

Semni clear. Makes it hard to find stuff if you have "many" storage boxes.

      Are these any good?

Most storage tubs are very brittle, especially after a year or two, and this one appears to have those stupid sharp edges at the bottom that make it hard to carry when full (rounded is much better), and aren't fully clear (clear is important, so you don't have to pull every tub out and open each one to find something).

I'd be curious if anyone is using anything better, but from all the plastic tub deals on OzBargain over the years, the consensus seems to be that the 52L Starmaids are the best we've found by miles, for the reasons stated above.

      • Could use tape around the edges I do with some, lazy method lol

Agree- have one given to me few years ago and it's a good build and sturdy. Will be raiding my local Big W for them. Thanks OP!

  • That's purple.

  • Can anyone confirm

    • +2

Yes, i can. It is pink.

      • Sorry I mean confirm Stock levels

    • +1

You can do so by calling up your local store.

Thanks called a couple of stores and finally got one with stock. I about 4 of them. Good price! Thanks

  • Bought a few of these last year. Not sure how, but the bottom of one of them got cracked…with nothing in it! I'm sure I would have checked over them before buying.

    • +2

Starmaid have a 3 year warranty.

      • Thank u for that. I keep a ridiculous amount of receipts for this very reason, but don't think I kept it for this purchase. Think I may repurchase (if still on sale?!) and use that receipt then :)

  • Scanned the purple & black ones (no pink) at Livingston WA, still showing $17.

  • Scanned 17$ for me. 😞

    • With bigW you sometimes have to process it completely (as in select payment method) and then it gives you the discount. I don't know why they do it that way? Even those price check points won't show the discounted price.

      • Would be nice for someone to confirm whether your theory works

I tried scanning with self serve terminals at checkout. It showed up as 17.00 for me, didnt proceed to payment yet.

    • Did you check the shelf product ID is 8298187?

      • Nar i didnt i should have. I scanned the purple and blue one.did yours scan at 6 or did it only show up as 6 when payment prompted?

        • Scanned at $6

  • For an extra litre at an extra 2 bucks Kmart

    • The Starmaid one is Made in Australia. As is the Officeworks one, Icon brand.

  • Registers at Highpoint (well, the service counter) scanned it at $17 for the clear, so no luck :-(

Was at bigw Keysborough. Only 8291109 purple ones. Lame.

Funny though found someone left a printed paper with description of box, product ID and $6 all handwritten.

Probably as disappointed as I was
